  1. I found the answer. Bait is anything live or dead. Therefore crank baits don't fall under this rule...
  2. Ok so I came across some rules and regulations re fishing nh waters. First thing I found out is the Alabama rig is illegal in NH. Ok I can see their reasoning for that. But then I came across this rule: While taking fish in open water, two hooks may be used for bait per line, one with a single hook point and the other with no more than three hook points, except in certain waters where only a single hook with a single hook point may be used (see Lakes & Ponds with Special Rules). Has anyone else seen this or know more about it? If this is in fact the caae does that mean that cranks are in fact illegal as well???
  3. Lake Waukewan in Meredith is my favorite. Not much pleasure boat traffic. Plenty of great fish in that lake all over the place, on tips, in coves, and out deep!
  4. I had a right handed last year, and found uncomfortable having to switch hands after I cast. Also, my "strong" hand was reeling in the line and my weak hand was holding the rod... Felt very awkward all season long. This year, switched to the left handed... Feels much more comfortable, even in my living room...
  5. I would have to agree on skipping the enigma. Now granted I am new to the whole bait caster real and all, but I had the enigma last year and I hated it! The braking system is far too complicated and is a pain in the butt! I back-lashed a lot and to the point where I had to waist most of my line. Look at line recovery instead of the gear ratio. The enigma 7.0:1 only picks of 25" vs. the pro qualifier 7.1:1 picks up 29" and also has the dbs Also, have them put it on the rod and give it a try in the store, that is what I did. I went with the JM Sig and when I brought it home I could VERY easily tell the difference between the enigma and the JM Sig, much smoother!
  6. With all of this advice I am gonna hv to make a big trip to bps for some new baits!
  7. Still a lot of ice out there. The weather is "predicted" to get ingto the 40-50's next week so I am hoping for ice out soon so I can use my new gear and hook my first one of 2012!!!
  8. Saying hello from NH. My hubby and I bought our bass boat last summer and fished a couple of tourneys together. It is such a blast to be out on the water with him. I do better some days but most of the time he out fishes me... Well I am learning more and more each time and I luv the whole process!
  9. Getting the new rod and reel ready as we speak...
  10. Usually fish the soft plastics. Did well last May with the x-rap. Can't wait to get out this year and get more experience w different rigs!
  11. I have to agree the smallmouths are a blast to reel in and feel their fight! It is a great feeling pulling those creatures into the boat!
  12. I fished w fluro on my old rig. I do still have it and am keeping my old rig plus we have a spinner... Gonna hv all three ready to go on ice out! But now we r getting a major snowstorm and I am hoping it leaves as soon as it came...
  13. Just picked up my new rod and reel and I am anxiously awaiting ice out... Going from a 6'6" rod to a 7'2". I also am switching from an enigma right handed reel to the jm sig left handed. Hoping the change in both the rod and reel will help improve my game. With the old setup I had a difficult time telling when I had a fish on my hook or not. Gullet hooked many last season and thought too often that I was getting a hit when nothing came into the boat... (was fishing on boulders under water so Im sure that had something to do with that)d Bring on the Bass!!!
  14. Thanks I appreciate the info. Definitely gonna do some more research. Want to make sure it will be worth it in the long run... I am sure I will have plenty of fun making them if I can figure out how...
  15. So I have been trying to so sum research about what is involved in in making soft plastics but I haven't come up with much info... Anybody out there have experience with making them? Looking for info re cost, ease, and effectiveness?
  16. Luved my kayak! Caught quite a few nice smallies too. Comfortable kayaks with plenty of room. They seem pretty sturdy but also were heavy. I say go for it! And have fun!
  17. 1. Stick bait 2. DT Hula Grubs 3. Kreature
  18. Haven't fished those too much. Tips on rigging?
  19. Got our first Bass boat last year and hoping to do better in tourneys this year. Wondering if anyone has experience fishing the clear rock covered bottom that is all ovee the place in NH? Learning how to use the carolina rig but I have been having a hard time telling the difference between the rocky bottom and actual bites? Any tips would be useful...
