  1. lol. A tetanus shot for a scale in your hand??? These docs are getting rediculous. My mom is in the medical field and while she was in school she did some research on how tetanus shots came about. (its been a while since she told me this but I think it goes like this) Believe it or not, they were first used widley in the civil war for soilders who somehow ingested horse manure. Either through a cut or wound , or on their hands while eating. Its now used like the old "Snake Oil" as a cure all for cuts/wounds in addition to antibiotics occasionally. While Im sure there is a legit use for this medicine, It is absolutley not needed when you step on a nail or get "shanked" by a fish. Its just a money maker for the medical community. Next time tell them you DO NOT want the shot and to remove it immediatley. After all they work for you and they charge an arm and a leg too so dont be afraid to speak your mind. If they refuse, leave and dont go back. They dont make money from a quick simple fix...
  2. Thx guys. I dont want to give up on this rig. I will be getting some new weights. I wish there was a dropshot hook with a weed gaurd on it kinda like a jig. Not sure how the gaurd would be attached to such a small weightless hook though...
  3. I went out fishing this morning because Ive got some time off. When I got there, I thought to myself, I think Ill put those drop-shot weights and hooks to some use for the first time. I rigged it up once at home just to practice but never actually fished with it. I had alot of problems with the cylinder weight (3/16) catching on rocks or in between them. I had to break off a few times when I couldnt shake it loose. I also do not like the exposed hook tip as it snagged on logs from time to time. I was using a 1/0 owner dropshot hook. Is there any tips for eliminating/lessening these issues? Or should I just not fish around and rocks, weeds or cover? p.s. I did catch a couple. One LMB and one decent bluegill. As always, thx for your two cents.
  4. Easy answer....someone who loves to fish as much as yourself.
  5. My only advice would be to expand your color options. Watermelon red is good but there are ALOT of other fish producing colors that you are missing out on.
  6. I fish at night the same way (and spots) I do before/just after sunrise.
  7. I finally found everything Im looking for in a fishing line in Yo Zuri. Its great! I just wish my local Gander Mountain would carry it so I wouldnt have to pay shipping , but its worth it.
  8. Boooo Shimano. Anti-American. lol. jk. Why would they not be for sale in U.S.? You can only Japanese models on ebay???
  9. I had some Rapala braid sissors and they sucked. Im using 30# Fireline Fusion and that stuff is no joke. The sissors got "sprung" from the braid and would barley cut mono. The best thing Ive found, after using dozens of cutting devices, is that tiny pair of sissors on my swiss army knife. They are super sharp and have been that way since I was like 8 (29 now) !!! Plus I always have the other tools in it handy like screwdrivers and what not.
  10. Quantum reels and St. Croix rods. No exceptions. I use the Mojo Bass series. I wont spend 300-400 on a rod unless Im making money off it...
  11. Nobody is gonna mention Strike Kings KVD Sexy Frog?? They're nice frogs. I like Rage Tails "Rage Toad" for heavy mats.
  12. Dude get a fillet knife...lol. I couldnt take the music.
  13. It was probably a grass bass with plastics in its gut...an old hawg starving to death.
  14. Or a tube..its looks like no creature ive ever seen. its just prey...
  15. Soak the fillets in milk, in the fridge, the night before you cook them. You can also bleed them in your livewell and keep running clean water through until its clear of blood. Youd be surprised at the difference in taste. I personally do not eat bass at all. The only freshwater fish I eat is walleye, crappie, and bluegills.
  16. The whole place is surrounded by a state park. I need to contact the DNR there and see what they think. Its really a big let down. I still have a great time there and catch fish. Even big ones. Its just not the amount of action as before. Not even close... Great fishing spots around here (east central iowa) are too rare to lose one.
  17. Its a St. Croix. Your good to go. Just add a new Quantum Tour Edition and your really good to go.
  18. Deadsticking a jig means letting it sit there for a long time. Like a dead stick. As far as your frogging issues goes, its probably not the frog but your setup. Are you using braid? If not, you should be. You need that no stretch property when frogging. Also, wait until you feel the fish before you rip his lip.
  19. Good fishing partners are HARD to find.
