  1. Now thats precision
  2. Frog gin. lol. Sounds like a new scent!
  3. Awesome pic Big-O! Rage Tail products have recently become my go to plastics at my favorite spots. My favorite is the Rage Craw in the "Bama Craw" color. Rage Rigged of course. The Rage Toad in Green Pumpkin w/ Pearl Belly is great for lily pads and scum. And they just smell so good! :-)
  4. I would make a day trip to Gander Mountain. Kill two birds with one stone. Get your dad a fathers day present while your there. Or something.... find another reason to go other than just feeling out reels. Although that is a good reason. The way a reel feels in my hand is as important to me as the performance itself.
  5. Im just wondering why you automatically assume hes lying? I ordered a reel from Quantum that took 5 (ordered mon. recieved fri after wrk) days as well. And thats NO BS.
  6. Fished some strip mines around here and it was awesome! Super clear water. We got to watch the fish fight all the way back to the boat. We mainly threw frogs at the scum all day cuz we really werent prepared for fishing super deep. Great time. Its my new favorite spot.
  7. Droid Charge. The camera and its options are awesome. Pair those with a photo editing app like "Fotolr PS" (free app) and you can do anything to the pics you take with ease.
  8. Quantum specializes in reels. shimano makes a whole bunch of different crap....just sayn
  9. Go to Gander Mountain. The have the largest selection around here and usually cheaper than Dicks. I would reccomend a Mojo Bass rod from St. Croix. They are $99. High quality rod and very sensitive! If you spend the same amount on a reel you will have a nice setup. You can always add an upgraded reel to your rod in the future or just get your original reel Super Tuned(go to delewarevalleytackle.com) Im getting all of my reels done this winter. You can find videos on youtube of before and after.
  10. X2. But I would use a medium power/fast action rod for plastics. 7' long is nice for those long casts from shore too. If this is who I think it is then WELCOME TO THE SITE! You will become a better fisherman quick if you study every corner of this site. Use 'classic' view instead of 'mobile' for videos and articles and other homepage links. mobile view is best for forums...
  11. I switched from spinning reels for plastcs to baitcasters just this season. I now have three setups. I love them. Its a much more interactive way of fishing for me. I love having the control over everything the way you do when you use a BC. I sold my nice spinning setup to my bro and kept the cheap one just in case I wanna go pan fishing. I would advise not starting out on cheap gear. They are not user friendly and will most likley leave a bad taste in your mouth and make you wonder why everone likes them so well. Plus a good quality BC will last yrs if properly taken care of from what I hear (no doubt)
  12. Yes, time of day is a major issue. It directly relates to light intensity. Bass are predators, and like all predators, they prefer low light conditions. Not sure where this lake is , but the bass are most likely done spawning. If your fishing from the bank then you should try early A.M. and dusk. Shallows with no cover get too hot for bass this time of yr. Hope this helps a little. Go get 'em!
  13. Yea the guy on wickedreelz uses the word "are" in place of "our". lol. Im hoing with DVT. Thx fellas!
  14. Have any of you guys ever heard of wickedreelz? ( www.wickedreelz.com) I am considering having them do a supertune and drag upgrade and was curious if any of you have had them do your reel. The videos are amazing but Im just wondering how satisified any of you who had it done are. Are the bearings difficult to remove and maintain yourself?
  15. Welcome. Davenport here.
  16. For me it depends on where I go. I have several choices nearby and the "nice" bass size changes from lake to lake/river. In a couple of my fav. spots I can catch 3-6lbers all day if the weather has been in the same pattern for awhile. Of course the fact I can only go when my buddy w/ the bass hunter wants to go is becoming an issue. Getting my own soon.... My usual place where I bank fish I can catch 5lbers in spring and fall easily but the norm is 1-3lbs with an occasional "nice" one...
  17. You could use a rope for punching mats.... They cant see it. Direct tie with braid is only way to go for mats/lilly pads.
  18. Ive noticed the claws riping easy too. Rage needs to address that problem... I will say that I had a Rage frog get one of its legs ripped off and they seemed to love it more. I caught 19 bass on it!
