  1. https://www.another site/blog/fishing-line-guide/ This has helped me choose what to put on my rods.
  2. In March or April I sometimes go a step smaller for a swim jig and go for the mini at a 1/4 oz just to get a little more suspended action in front of the sluggish bass. I have never had much luck with a slow spinning bait, If I were fishing a lake like Great East I would be up the northern end where the river is and catching them right at the mouth where there's a transition of depth from the big part of the lake.
  3. Caught some smelts today on Great Bay almost 2 dozen they are starting to move in.
  4. I was able to get my boat out onto Swains the last day of march last year.
  5. You can use the Alabama rig you are only allowed one hook on the rig. the two line article I would imaging pertains to people who troll for fish on lakes or ponds. If you ever have any doubts call Suds-n-Soda in Greenland, NH they are my go to people that can answer anything on the laws. Or the Game Warden they are nicer then everyone thinks.
  6. Picked up a couple packages of CHT double wacky hooks cant wait to use them soon. I am hearing the broads opened up at Winni.
  7. Summer time I would go 1/8 or 3/8 for the 20ft mark 1/8 to weightless for the 10 and under. fall and spring I would start with 3/8 for both depths.
  8. Shaky head floating worms any one have any success? This really has my interest in the clear waters I fish.
  9. I will be doing both and I am lucky enough I get out at noon time at work so can fish the week days on the lakes that get crowded on the weekends. As long as the shallows have markers I should be safe plus the GPS will be active for sure. Pleasant Lake looks interesting because of the depth so there must be a good smallie population there? Northwwood lake I always see on rt 4 but I never stop there.
  10. My lake wish list to try fishing this year is Northwood lake, Pleasant lake and Merrymeeting lake. Is Pleasant lake accessible for boats over 18ft?
  11. Most bass clubs I know have both boaters and nonboaters for memberships They always make sure you get paired up for a club tournament and sometimes being paired up with different people gets you to try different styles of fishing. When I started I was ia member of NorthEast Bassmasters out of Eliot ME I was a non-boater and still was able to qualify as a team member for the Maine state team to fish against 14 other states at the regional event for the bassmasters. Just be prepared to help out with some gas money as a courtesy. During the last couple years as a boater I always have tried to bring friends to a local lunker tourney to let them get the feel of what it is like to fish wish a bunch of guys who love the sport and to listen to the tall tails after.
  12. My 6.6 spinning rod set up is perfect for skipping tubes or wacky rigged worms under brushes and docks. Even caught one under a dock someone was fishing off of this year with his permission of course. Sorry about the double post earlier this site has been running wacky for me the last week.
  13. Baitcasting is new to me so looking to up the rod count soon. I love spinning rods and can match anyone fishing with one, currently have 11 spinning set ups in my boat. I have 4 bait casting rods a 6.6, two 7ft and a 7.6 foot rod whats everyone's favorite rod size without going into rod names?
  14. A friend of mine has those his only problem with them is that the fins and tail take a beating but they are replaceable. I have always seen him use just a regular heavy bass set up when he used it.
  15. Currently holding several gift cards for cabella's and bass pro shops finally my family listened to me.
  16. My fishing season in NH was April till near the end of Oct at least twice a week so looking at close to 70+ for me
  17. I just do smelt fishing on ice in rented shacks in Maine. there is something about having 8 lines going and a roaring stove fire in the shack. On other news it was nice to see a stiff sentence for that guy who killed someone that was on his boat on Northwood lake. As a victim because of someone drunk driving a boat I'm glad justice prevailed.
  18. It's all in the attitude currently making some decent cash in it. Can't wait to get my dog outside and find some partridge for a nice meal.
  19. Been hearing ice is getting thicker by the day, best since 1995, I don't ice fish lakes but can't wait to do some smelt fishing on great bay next to me.
  20. I like the what sony has to offer and the price point but the gopro has the remote key fob feature to turn the camera on/off and the app for the phone to see exactly what the camera is seeing. I guess to many choices. I am getting jealous of Brandon Palaniuk on facebook he has the gopro3 black edition and it is awesome. Thanks for that article Nashua Nev
  21. Anyone use a Hero camera? asking santa (wife) for one to record my fishing trips.
  22. “Casting and presentation is more important than the color of your lure.” -- Do you agree? I subscribe to ***, site on Facebook and this topic came up. My opinion, I believe casting and presentation makes up 70% of the catch. I would even include attitude.
  23. I have used the pens but some plastics they don''t work. I have used the dips for along time mostly chartreuse on the lighter color soft baits.
  24. They do make hook weights for going deep with wacky rigs, you have to really watch your line because of the hits on the fall that can go unnoticed. I'm a "avid" wacky rig user but I rarely let it hit bottom past the twenty foot mark. these weights are on the expensive side only 3 to a pack but with the lead ban coming up there's not much of a choice soon. I have also used the tungsten balls (1/32) as a leader weight also.
  25. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_a7AZbJGNM&feature=youtu.be A little comic fun on fishing stereotypes. The no touchy was funny.
