  1. Thanks for the suggestions I will be picking peoples brains for the winter months ahead. I am extremely confident I can keep up with all the big boys with my open face reals in fact I out fished local legend from the back of the boat to qualify for the bass master regional tournament when I was younger, caught one of the biggest smallies on Sebago 6.2 lbs with 8lb test line and a black gitzit the hook was almost bent straight. The gentleman shook my hand and said I was the only person to out fish him from the back of his boat.I think now is the time to put some learning back into the catch and also go after some trophy's some are you are posting. Thanks in advance.
  2. What would be the two best speeds to get for a bait casting reel. I do a lot of top water and shore worming. nothing over 3/8 in weight. I have two abu garcia rivo's but haven't been to thrilled with the worm gear had to pull out the pin several times which seems to get stuck a lot. When they do work right I been able to skip worms just like my spinning gear. Most likely will be getting at least 5 sets this year to start replacing my open face gear. Thinking of getting back to tournament fishing I haven't done for over 20 yrs. been winning the local lunker tourneys here so getting the bug back.
  3. Anyone have any thoughts on the uglystick GX2? and whats a good mid range bait caster? slowly weaning myself off of the open face reals.
  4. If I were to be going out this late I would be throwing weighted tube jigs natural colors 1/4 or 3/8 to get down deep I have even weighted a wacky rig and had luck I will be honest and say I don't have much skill in the hard jerk baits. Smallmouth would be in the 25 40 foot range now. likely spots that have worked very well for me during the month of October in Alton Bay is Echo pt and Pumpkin pt. Going off Littlemark Island is ok but that gets you near the broads. http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp This is the best web app for previewing most lakes using contour lines I use all the time on the computer to plan my trip, but unfortunately some of my favorite lakes in NH and ME they don't have measurements yet. Hope I helped a little bit and good luck.
  5. Alton bay good smallmouth population still in the bay my fishing buddies have told me.
  6. Don't know if anyone realizes this but this group page has a 'hot' in the the index search on Bass Resource. Fine job everyone for making this one of the pages people like to read.We have a fine group of people who make checking up on here fun and informative. Will be on here through the coming months to make a list of what I need to start next year with.
  7. All done bass fishing for the year. Hopefully some smelt fishing when the ice covers the bay near me. Caught three large mouth near a rock pile I like to fish around today, water was still hanging at 55 so the bass were on the rocks around the 10 ft mark. black hula grubs did the trick today. Now time to take my dog out to find some partridge Hope everyone stays safe if your on the water now.
  8. Smooth ride and all aluminum, 150 xr6 able to hit over 60 when empty.
  9. Just saying hi all. One week of fishing left for me "not my call insurance fault " Then it's off to the woods for the bounty that's out there. Will be casting crank baits and swim baits maybe a worm or two. Good luck all in N.H.
  10. Did Little Ossipee, ME Last weekend was catching largemouth around any stand up weeds weather at 3ft or less. Being a clear lake any green grass at the 6ft or lower mark bass will hang out there also if its near a good sloped ledge. Heck even my non-fishing son got hooked onto bass fishing after last week.
  11. Way to go NEJitterBugger! http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sports/highschoolsports/1018862-457/milford-junior-helps-launch-nhiaa-bass-fishing.html
  12. GreatEast, Lee Mills and Lovelle have been the lunker lakes for me.
  13. Dicks sporting goods is having a great sale on them at the moment http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4042898&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.4414808 I am partial to Lowrance for $130 You cant beat the price for something with a 5 inch screen. they also have a 4 inch for $80.
  14. Took my son out for some fishing, He finally caught one.Weightless rage craw and wacky senko were the choice of the day. I was catching wherever the was grass shooting up out of the water most of the time in only 3 ft water. 15 total.
  15. Not much luck for fishing today. It was colder then what was said by the weather guy only did a couple hours with my dad befor the mist came. 6 fish total all largemouth including one that had a hook in its mouth which I took out. Wacky rigged Senko and a jitterbug were the lake fav today, nothing came off the shoreline, Hopefully Sunday will be a improvement.
  16. Great looking fishing days a head. Today with my dad and Sunday with my son. Looks like crankbait time with some wacky worm thrown in. Have fun all.
  17. That beat my 25 inch i got this year nice fish, I sure don't like them but I admire the fight they put up.
  18. Did Lovell lake today a little over a dozen I could not get over how fat the little fish are in this lake both LG and SM. This lake being clear they were hitting on more natural colors for soft bait. For 4 hours it was a good day to be out.
  19. I talked to someone who owns a camp on Swains, he said the association is lowering the lake later this year then normal. Now just have to wait for all the weeds to get away from the ramp. On the good news fish are biting and rage craw black with blue was preferred bait today over 2 dozen total for the day. I'm in Portsmouth also but my boat is full size so I have to have a ramp accessible lake. Good luck all.
  20. Whats everyone using for a crank bait? I am honest to say I don't use them as much as I should large mouth fishing.
  21. My alma mater Winnacunnet is number 5 watch out but best of luck Liam!
  22. Lucky guy from NH won the Bassmaster Fantasy Fishing top prize http://www.bassmaster.com/news/fantasy-win-upgrades-nh-angler-canoe-bass-boat
  23. The Piscataqua river is almost my back yard in fact the 95 bridge is my neighbor. Been catching stipers and black sea bass this year. Nothing big I just go to the river with my dog for some alone time every so often.
  24. It's a Maine lake, Arrowhead, I don't mind fishing in the rain just not heavy down pour stuff I did too much of that in my younger tourny days.
  25. A tube bait brought me to the B.A.S.S regionals 20 yrs ago and it's still catching them for me. Black, brown or green pumpkin. 1/16-1/2 oz weighted hook depending on the wind. On a cloudy day you can't beat this for water over 20 ft deep for the smallmouths.
