  1. That's one of my weaker points this year jig fishing and getting the bass to stay on the hooks. Took a friends advice and now using 30# braid tied with a 20 floro leader it seems to be saving better hook sets for me. What i did accomplish is learning the chatterbait technique with different skirts and trailer.
  2. My boat is out of the water till 2015 what a sad thing to say. Now to look at my diary and tally up the year.
  3. Last day out with my boat for the season, went to Great East, half dozen large mouths on jigs with black/blue ragetail craws in a 10ft hole behind a floating evergreen island. very very windy 30mph+ had to help tow a small 12ft boat because the water was so rough they ended up riding with me to make the trip faster. Rule #1 know your water and what it can do on bad weather days they didnt realize that Great East can pack 4ft swells in the wind on there today.
  4. Hearing from a couple people that the Kezar open was a hard one to fish 4ft swells in the lower basin and higher swells in the main lake. 10 fish 37 pounds took it only 18 boats went and 7 came up empty. Moving baits spinner rattles traps were the key baits.
  5. The lake has been lowered but not that much so far, plus the rain the day before raised it up some. The docks are still at the launch but those will be off soon. I'm hoping to get out on it again soon. The water in the second basin was 62 while the main lake was just above 60.
  6. Great East was on fire, 3 hours = 21 bass including 3 smallies. Biggest at 3 1/2 pounds They were definitely feeding after all the rain, some close to shore with deep channels near by or major structure like boulders and such under water away from shore. depth ranged from 6ft to 20ft of water. 1/2 oz black strike king Jig with a rage green pumpkin sapphire, green pumpkin tube jig rigged texas and a slow rolling 1/2oz black chatter bait with a natural shad skirt and green with red flake paddle tail. It was cold enough with the wind I had to dig out my save phace mask while running the big motor. 45 degrees +30 mph wind +60 mph boat equals a cold fun day on the water I wouldn't trade it doing any other thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsK3Yf7GrMM&feature=youtu.be Made a quick video of the boat ride to my next spot today.
  7. Hitting Great East today, time to hit the bigger body water with the boat since the smaller ones are being drawn down making them unsafe to run through.
  8. Bummed, my partner could not get this sunday off for the Kezar open. Now to fish some local lakes for the end of the season till I hear a cold snap comes.
  9. Hoping to do a open Sunday on Keezar, with this storm going through and possible 6 inches of rain up north it should raise the lake level and throw off any thought of a normal way to fish that lake.
  10. Your the first person who has said spybait I have it in my box but haven't used it yet.
  11. Wishing I was fishing instead of working the cold nights are going to help the bites I love fishing early mornings that have frost on the ground even better if were snowing
  12. A 3 pounder on a tough day still is something to smile about. No fishing for me this weekend I have a new (used) truck and can't wait to hook the boat onto it and run someplace.
  13. I'm dying to get out just bought a new truck and wanting to see how it tow's my boat. but i have to work the whole weekend.
  14. He has caught many smaller trophy size fish (8 to 9 pound size) and released them all but this fish being a potential state record he had to harvest it blame the NH laws that states all fish must be dead when they leave waters. Don'the attack a person's character because he didn't ask your permission. This is all I will comment on this post.
  15. He did keep it alive in the pond while he called several people asking opinions on the matter replicas are nice but they never replace a catch of the life time from our waters. I'm just happy for the guy even though I work with him so this is all i'm going to hear when he comes back next week from vacation. He went with his buddy the next day and caught a 7.9 lb largemouth 10 feet from where he caught the 10 pound fish.
  16. Can you imagine I work and fish with the guy so when he comes back to work from vacation that's all i'm going to hear.
  17. He had kept the fish alive for a little bit while he called several people asking for opinions on the matter before he made the decision It wasn't a easy one for him being the fisherman he is, he actually felt sad about it. In his defense you don't come across those in our waters to often. It would have been a hard choice for me on the water. He got it weighed at Calef's Country Store after so the weight is off a official scale. He and his buddy went to the same pond yesterday (weds) and produced a 7.9lb largemouth ten feet from where he got the 10 pounder. I have the pic if anyone wants to see it lol.
  18. Ed said he is humbled by all the kind words he doesn't have a computer to follow this thread.
  19. Just got a update with them catching a 7.9th fish now on the same pond
  20. Nope he just used his scale he didn't want to go to a regular scale because it didn't beat the record, his scale has matched the tournament scales constantly. Ed fished all but 2 I think, his partner was Justin Kibet Edit; Just found out Ed did get it weighed at Calef's country store has the sticker showing the weight getting closer to knowing the body of water.
  21. Here's a 10 pound fish off a New Hampshire pond on Tuesday by my friend Ed 10.01 lbs 25 inches long 18 inch girth Just missed the state record by 8 ounces He is going to have it mounted by the same gentleman that does all the mounts for Cabela's
  22. Yes he is getting it on a mount his girlfriend knows the person who does all the cabela's mounts for the new stores. All he said was a deep jig caught him he is out fishing again today what a way to spend you vacation with a catch like that.he said he still hasn't stopped shaking
  23. If you know Ed he is shy but I am slowly getting some info out of him only because he wants to fish in my boat at times. I do know its a small boat pond in NH and he is saying there are larger fish in there. Just 8 ounces shy of the state record for NH. I told him he needs to send that picture to Bassmaster Magazine. Ed is the most patient fisherman I know he more often then not out fishes me in size of fish he catches in the same boat as me. If you heard of people who have a natural knack for bait cadence he has it.
  24. Caught yesterday in NH water's 10.01 pounds 25 inches long 18 inch girth
