  1. I have my resolution this year to go from my heaviest of 266 down to 185. I am now at 256. Getting there!!! It will make me a better angler! Great success hootie!!!
  2. As many people do call fishing a "sport", I think it is important to stay fit and healthy when fishing. I read in the latest issue of bassmaster that some of the pros are even going towards a training regiment to target their core abs and back muscles. Also they mentioned strong arms for hook sets and cardio for weight loss leading to lessened stress levels and ease of moveability on the boat. Makes sense to me. Lose some weight in 2014 and be a better fisherman. ;-)
  3. She would have ignored it. She had plenty of direction and advise to give, but honestly she seemed like everything she had to say was the gospel.
  4. Where can I get said product Dr Glenn? :-)
  5. Citric acid makes sense to me.
  6. Citric acid makes sense to me.
  7. Thanks all! A lot to take in but I gathered it from the guide and will use it in NC next week when we get home. :-)
  8. Makes sense. Especially with the grass stuff. Seemed awkward at first, but I like it now.
  9. I was thinking about the same. Maybe it helps to clean it too? I would say sprite is probably better since it maybe has less dyes. Joe
  10. The guide gut hooked a fish that swallowed most of the hook the other day. She got it straight out. It was bleeding pretty bad. She got a can of sprite from her cooler filled with ice and poured about half the can in its mouth. How does this help and why these two sodas? Joe
  11. I really enjoyed it! Learned a lot and actually might add I am a decent straight up "hook setter" now. Lol
  12. That was the thing that made it more "believable" to me. The fact that she knew the waters. Heck, if she came to NC I could probably show her a thing or toe about swim baits. Lol. I will say that the over head hook set feels very different, but I missed 0 fish doing it that way. I was still impressed to ride in my first ever bass boat. New Nitro Z9 it was.
  13. 1.) comparing medals worm for military, and jerseys for fishing are apples to oranges. Not tactful to compare the two. 2.) team jerseys for sports like football, hockey, etc are worm by fans worldwide. BR jerseys are no different. If you support the Bears, wear a jersey. If you like and support BR and the sponsors, go for it. 3.) the $$$ given to BR helps to support the site and get the name out. I would do it. 4.) this site is free. I don't mind giving some $$$ to help advertise it. 5.). People that get caught up in giving you a hard time if you wear it should mind themselves. We all do this to support each other and advance our knowledge and support. What a shame if people start splitting hairs over a jersey. Joe
  14. Yes! I wish I could through some bass in an indoor size Olympic size swimming pool!!!!!! Proper elements and chemical stuff though of course. :-)
  15. Well, trip went well. Father in law and I had a good two hour expedition getting some bass. The guide was a woman who fishes tournaments here in FL. She was ok as a guide. She gave a lot of input to my fishing style; I think most of it was her opinion though. Here are my two questions. When I do hook sets at my home waters, I almost always side hook set. She told me it was a bad idea because I would lose a lot of fish. Second ahe said I shouldn't cast side arm. It is a bad habit she said that I had to break. I tried both ways she said on the two and did fine. However there were times when she kept insisting that I use a worm in spots that were slow. I asked for a swim bait and she said nope. Lol! So I guess she wanted me to break the habit of my "usual" lures. So it worked with a worm. Took a while though. In my home NC, I can catch bass on a swim bait all year round. I can sink them, fast, slow, suspended, etc. And it works for me. Just wondering what you all think? I don't mind learning and I understand this is her job and familiarity with the body of water, but the two things I'm unsure of whether fact or opinion is the casting and hook set stuff. Joe
  16. What have you all seen as good fishing personalized plates? I think my personal plate here in NC is pretty spiffy: SETDHOOK
  17. Dwight, that makes sense. I may bring the reels with fresh line and some lures. Also sole extra line. ;-)
  18. Really people??!! We have gift cards we are using for the trip also. It's not your money anyway so if you think this thread is about the price then re read the title. This is about the gear issue. If you feel the price in you opinion is too high, then kindly keep your loaded words off this thread.
  19. It's a major award
