What Was That Monster?!
I watched a video of Asian carp on YouTube. They looked very much like the one today. Except the one today was huge! I have seen grass carp. They got pretty big but they were slow in the other pond. Not real active. This guy today was the show stopper. Lol

What Was That Monster?!
The nose wasn't long like a gar. Looked like a drum fish or something like a carp. It was nuts!

What Was That Monster?!
My friend and I took our kayaks to a local community pond today for the first time there. It is about the size of 3 football fields. Very big. Center is about 10 feet deep. Plenty of downed trees, etc. all around. Well, I was at the bank edge fishing my minnow around a lot of snot grass. I heard about 10 feet next to me what sounded like a huge bird swooshing into the water to grab a tasty fish. I looked over and saw nothing but rippling water; something like a bowling ball was just dropped in it from a low flying plane. I asked my buddy "what was that?" He was about 25 feet behind me and said, "Sounded like a huge bass hitting a fly or something". As we looked there again, we discovered we were both wrong. Out it came, 9 more times to be exact in a period of about 30 seconds. We saw it 100%. It was no bass. It was easily 35lbs. Easily. The color was a shiny grey, almost light green, grey head (about the size of a watermelon) and had big square shaped scales. About 3 to 4 feet long. Why didn't we take a picture? Well, Jim was staring with his mouth wide open, motionless. I was yelling (bad words :-( , and was paddling backwards yelling "What the #$%& is that thing" as it was approaching my kayak within 3 feet!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got away and we just sat there in shock. NEVER seen anything like that aside from Jeremy Wade on Rivermonsters. LOL We looked up some pics on the web and found it to maybe be a carp????? I cannot tell you all how much this is NOT exaggerated. The size of the fish was in reach; I could have grabbed its' tail if I wanted to. The fish almost seemed to do this to get us away. What do you all think it was? Joe

My Frog Hookup Ratio, You Don't Wanna Know
I usually do something similar to the Bill Dance method. Once the lure goes down, I say to myself "one thousand one" then set the hook. Usually this works. However I have thrown a frog out there and popped it slowly and gently for about 2 minutes and them WHAM! Took me by surprise and I immediately set the hook out of instinct. All I got was a frog being propelled to my kayak. It happens. :-)

Frustrated With New Lures
This is all great info! Makes sense too. If I leave the minnows at home, then I don't have any other choice but to use those others. :-)

Frustrated With New Lures
Everyone who knows me locally calls me "minnow Joe". For obvious reasons. I use plenty of power bait artificial minnows like they are going out of style. I've been trying to come out of my comfort zone and actually use the other rods and lures that I have LOL Needless to say I really need to practice them more. If I don't get a hit for a fish on the first two or three castes I get frustrated and go back to my Minnows. Anyone else have a similar circumstance or can give me some advice? LOL. Joe :-)

Hump Back Bass?
The pond usually has healthy fish in it where I caught her. Maybe a deformity. However, the fight was from a well conditioned fish. I thought my line was going to snap. Seriously........

Disney World Bass Fishing
People say the price is high. However you have to keep in mind the scenery, pick up at your resort door, food, drink, guide, equipment, photo pass, tour of Bay Lake, provided equipment, and the fact that it is Disney. $270 for two hours for two people with all of this is reasonable.

Fun Day
Man that's awesome!!!!! Pretty colors on the smallies. ;-)

Disney World Bass Fishing
It is $270 for two hours. Includes all of the goods for two people. So it's not too bad. It's Disney so it is a little high anyway. I've seen other bass trips for more thank that for two people. Plus it is cool to be fishing and still see the parks. ;-)
