  1. I am also ready to have to start putting on sun block and bug spray. Good indication it is warm enough for active bass. Also, love getting out at sunrise for some hungry bass searching for breakfast. I have actually said "good morning!" before I released them. :-)
  2. I got this big envelope in the mail today. It had really cool car window bass decals and stickers and a holographic membership card. It also said in the letter that I was recommended to this elite club. It came with plenty of literature stating why membership dues are only one dollar a month. The letter also said that it included five fishhooks which were not in the envelope. It promised to send me gifts and other fishing material. I was very skeptical despite the fact the letter told me not to be. I went with my hunch and threw everything away in the trashcan. I researched the club and found over 90% of the members have complained about them. Just from what I have read they have sent them fishing books and fishing gear with an option to be kept and paid for or returned. The people who said they returned the items were still charged and then subsequently turned over to collection agencies. Anyone else heard of this club or give any insight? Regardless this is not a club that I care to join I'm just curious as to what you all think.
  3. That's true. My friend and I always wanted to try it. What's to lose? Nothing. Gain experience with the presentation. And maybe a top water explosion. (Chills) ;-)
  4. Sam I second the "very little wind". I don't like that stuff. Lol
  5. Loodkop where do you live? Do you mean top water frogs? If so, that's awesome in the colder weather!!! I wish I could catch one on a frog popper here in NC in the winter. :-)
  6. March is here and so are the spring temperatures in North Carolina. Getting into the 60s and 70s. I am looking forward to trying out my completed bass boat project this Saturday. As the warmer weather approaches what are you all looking forward to with fishing? Trying out a new rod/reel? Family outing on the water?
  7. I went and checked out that Maxx one at Walmart today not bad at $99
  8. Yep, the battery stamp date is 10/2005
  9. My johnboat is powered by 32 pounds of thrust trolling motor. I need to get a new battery for it. Does the new battery need to be trickle charged at the end of every day? Also how many hours will the battery last for average? The one I have came used with the motor sink don't know. I can charge this one overnight and after about 5 minutes, it goes dead. It's about 7 years old.
  10. Laugh Out Loud! I have a visual of that. Lol
  11. I am 6 foot and 185. My friend is 5 foot 6 and weighs 210. It works fine with us. My wife when she goes is 5 foot 3 and weighs 110. She can sit wherever it don't matter. She's usually ready to go home if it gets too hot or cold. Lol
  12. I posted a couple threads recently about a johnboat that I re did. 10 foot aluminum with a trolling motor. I mounted two seats with 9 inch extensions and swivels. One on the rear bench and one on the very front. I left the center bench empty for room for supply and gear. Many people have mentioned that the front seat looks "unsafe". However I have had two people in the boat with both seats and no problems. I personally have been solo in the boat and sat in both locations with no problems. Windy and calm breeze days, turns, hook sets in both seats, all fine. What would be the issues that all of these people are talking about? The boat flipping over from the front end? Poor balance? It is level now and floats well. I have also seen other John boats, some 10' and some 14' and the owners had the seats like mine. One guy said it is more stable this way. Another said personal preference. It works for me and I enjoy it.
  13. I used the aircraft paint stripper. Do not not not not not Get it on anything you do not want the paint off of!!!! That stuff will make the paint wrinkle in about five minutes and it wipes right off. Also if you get it anywhere on your skin it will burn like you know what. :-). However it is 100% effective.
  14. I'm leaving it as is with no live well. As for the seats, they are perfect. They hold two people fine even with one standing. Safety is no issue with it. I have been in it myself and walked to both seats. Level as can be. Turns great and is pretty fast. Just using it for fun and getting a bass boat to tourney in one day. I've seen other John boats with seats set up like mine on the local lakes too. I talked to some folks and they said they loved the extra room they have in the middle of the boat.
  15. Fishing jerseys look better. :-)
  16. Pretty good stuff there.
  17. I know it! Just something I could have custom to match any graphics on my boat.
  18. Hey guys where is a place that I can have a fishing jersey made? Something I could customize.
  19. That's what I figured. Cool! :-)
