  1. Tomorrow I will be taking the two hour trip from Raleigh to Charlotte North Carolina for my first visit to bass pro shops. I have never been before and was wondering how long it takes to actually go through the entire store and browse at everything including the bass fish tank. I was thinking two hours to shop then grab some lunch down the road and come back and shop for a couple more hours. I want to make the two hour trip worth it. :-)
  2. Last year when we first went out I had to bring with me a small net so Lacy could do that. She would have a bucket of about 20 minnows and say they were her "pets". Then she would practice her catch and release. Lol
  3. Yep, sure do. She is getting close to out fishing me on my two wii fishing games. Lol
  4. Thanks everybody. It is great being a fishing family. Too many people now days neglect family time. We are blessed and fortunate enough to share the interest of fishing and have the opportunity to share great stories like this one. :-)
  5. Thanks Dwight! Now I wonder if my wife will trust me more when I say I have to get fishing tackle for our daughter. ;-)
  6. I took my daughter out fishing today to one of the ponds. She is six years old and for a little over a year loves to fish as much as her daddy and mommy. Today she finally got a chance to try out her new rod and reel she got for Christmas. It is a closed bell design with the single pushbutton. It is a good Shakespeare set up and she has used similar ones before and uses a spin caster also. She has never used a baitcaster. Today she was having a little trouble fishing a jig for the first time. I walked over and told her to hold my pole while I demonstrated. She held my brand new Quantum KVD graphite 7'10" signature series with the new Abu reel on it. I just got it yesterday and today was its maiden cast day. She held the pole and stepped over about 10 feet and watched me cast a few times while I talked in demonstration. Out of the corner of my eye I was able to watch my swim bate minnow fly about 25 feet across the sky into the water. I was still as a statue and then slowly turned my head to the left. I saw my daughter with a big grin on her face slowly retrieving the bait. She looked right at me and said "See daddy I can fish the big stuff like you". I calmly put her pole down and walked over to her expecting to find a huge condor nest. Instead I found the line on the reel tightly wrapped as if I casted it. From that moment on she has been able to properly use all types of fishing gear we have. Very proud dad. :-)
  7. Announced just the other day. Bass Pro Shop coming to Cary North Carolina. Will be about 15 minutes from our house here in Fuquay Varina. I'm pumped! They said late 2013 or early 2014. :-)
  8. He had some guts to pull off a theft like that. :-/

  10. Ok, all of the YouTube videos I found talk a lot but don't show what I need. On all three of my baitcasters (black max, pro max, and bill dance quantum) they have the drag star (which I know how to use) the line tension knob. This is the one on the right side with ribs around it and no other marking. ( I can set this too). However the brake dial is on the other side (non reel side) and it is on the middle on all 3 reels now. Labeling is "max" through "min". What do the brakes do that the line tension knob doesn't do? Also how and when to adjust the brake dial? Thanks! Joe
  11. I think we all here have "the addiction". :-)
  12. Cool. I didn't find that thread. Thanks. :-)
  13. I just saw an infomercial for natural pest solutions on TV. The guy said fishermen should put a dryer sheet under their hat to repel mosquitoes instead of bug spray. Anyone use this or heard of this before? Joe
  14. Well put nitro freak. Good points there. Plenty of options to consider here too. Sounds and looks like a big project. I need to weigh out cost and time of the boat listed here and a newer one. Thanks man! :-)
  15. Yeah, might be a heavy beast!!! Again, the condition of the boat is my concern. I never have much thought into the wood and other rotted parts too.
  16. Thanks mike. Makes sense too. When I had my canoe I couldn't leave it on the belly because it would loose its "form". Are fiberglass boats the same principle?
  17. Boat and trailer together about 1500. My truck is rated at 3500. However I will be driving through the mountains.
  18. I AM NOW A SAN DIEGO JAM ADDICT!
