  1. The main reason I don't like the hawg handles.. They need to make a swept handle. There's no design to the current one, it just looks like they cut a piece of carbon and drilled some holes in it for the knobs.
  2. Not happy with the new cumara grip, I returned the casting ones I bought and switched them over to the spinning rods, I hold my rod more in front of the reel so I found the grip or lack there of didn't bother me as much.
  3. Sadly not going to basstalk! I'm working that Monday
  4. Spring is soon coming around!! With the spring boat&fishing show this weekend it is sure to get the juices flowing!!
  5. Make the step up to a DX it will be the best rod you've ever owned. I could never part with mine. To me the savy series felt dead
  6. $28 for my Ontario resident license $65 for my Quebec non-resident.
  7. One of my favorite stick bait colors has pink in it, drop shot, ned rig, wacky the smallies just love it
  8. Braid floats, the main reason I hate it for fishing jigs, even worse if its windy. I hate seeing my line laying and bowing on the water
  9. You need to throw a soft swimbait on the back of one of those jigs! That way you have EVERY option covered.

  11. For the price, you can't beat the Dobyns SS735!
  12. Hey guys, I have a cousins wedding coming up mid-march down in Florida, So I'm making the drive down from Canada. I've already set up a day on the Big-O with a friend of a friend. Now here is my question while I'm down there I will be staying on Ana Maria island at one of my aunts condos, I'm looking for some local shore spots i can fish while i'm down there! Ponds, Golf courses...whatever! Now my cousin also lives in the Palmetto area, Whitney Meadows to be exact, she tells me that she has water in her back yard! Anyone know the area? fished it? I'll be down there march 9-15th, bass will be bedding come these times, correct me if I'm wrong? what should i be throwing at these brutes to catch em! Plastics? topwater? moving baits? Thanks lads! Brad
  13. It's not just for savings costs, braided line will slip if it is tied directly to the spool... Hence the reason for backing.
  14. I did some of mine today... Joy :/ "The pile"
  15. +1 on the DX795, amazing rod. Perfect flip/punch rod!
  16. Oh boy! I'm in the same boat, spring is coming and I'm no where near all stocked up with what I "need" haha on the bright side I just scored a new job at one of Canada's biggest outdoor/fishing stores, problem with that is I can already see my paycheck wasting away on gear! Good thing it's a second job

  18. Ive noticed this when it comes to Dobyns, There are a ton of guys down in Cali using those sticks! But who's to say they arent also popular up north
  19. Here's another for the Dobyns DX745. Sometimes I sleep with this rod at night <3
  20. Best bang for your buck has got to be the stradic FJ it's a much more advanced reel compared to the ci4. Personally the only thing the ci4 has going for it is it's weight. The FJ has many more features especially x-ship. Don't get me wrong the ci4 is still a amazing reel, but the FJ is a true work horse, and also comes in at a cheaper price.
  21. Shimano Cumara 7'2" medium light fast paired with a Stradic Ci4. I change up my gear quite often, but I can't seem to part with this combo, the rod has the PERFECT tip for drop shot, since making the switch to all Dobyns this is the only Shimano I have left. I can't see myself ever parting with this setup.
  22. LOL that was my first baitcaster! It's incredible I didn't pull my hair out trying to cast with it, I must've went through $100 of braid the first week. It blew up a few weeks later. It makes me appreciate my Lew's TP's now. If only I could've leavened on one of these!
  23. I drag them on a 1/2oz-3/4oz footballs for smallmouth and walleye here up north. Another one of my favorite ways to fish them is just on a swimbait head. I use the Buckeye J-Will Swimbait Heads.
  24. My only problem is the thickness of the handle, it would be nice if it was more slender towards the center, more like a swept handle.
