Shimano Stopping The Lifetime Warranty As Of 8-1-14
There's a ton of retailers that have already announced it via Facebook or their websites. Here's the official response from Shimano. "All Shimano rods purchased after August 1st will have a 1 year warranty and will require proof of purchase." Rods purchased prior to this date will still have the limited lifetime warranty, but it will no longer be over the counter - you will have to send your rod to Shimano.\

What Trailers Do You Use On Your Chatterbaits
I believe Mr. Tom Monsoor himself wrote an article about swim jigs and addressed this specific issue. Generally speaking, without getting in to semantics, you're trailer selection isn't quite right. It can be boiled down into paddle vs swim but, as I'm sure you're aware, it goes much deeper than this. Getting the bite, or swipe in this instance, is the easy part. It's the commitment that can get dicey. When (and I do a lot) throw a swim jig, I'm looking for where and how the fish is hooked and I always tweak the trailer style, length, and profile until the fish are choking it. Easy answer to your specific situation would be if they are nipping at a grub, put a white swimming caffiene shad/skinny dipper on instead.

My Humminbird Stopped Working
If the moisture is on the inside of the screen just send it in for a replacement. If it's out of warranty, throw it in a bag of rice and completely cover the unit for a day or 2 to absorb the moisture. it won't hurt the unit at all.

Any Fantasy Footballers Out There?
100% agree and it isn't even close. Should we start a FF thread this year? I think most of our football posts got split between various threads. My drafts don't start till mid and end of next month.

Homemade Mj Rig
I swear I'm the only person in our neck of the woods on up that doesn't throw these yet. The swim jig/squarebill bite right now is ridiculously good that I think a rig like this would work under schoolers. Do you have a lot of success /w ring fry/centepede baits in backwaters/lakes i.e cassville or frentress lake? something like 1/4oz mojo?

[Suggest] A Crankbait
What is your favorite crankbait? (who makes it, price, where you bought, color?) I have two. Spro Fat John, 11$, BTD, Cellmate Zoom WEC E1, I think retail is 20$, I practically stole a dozen of these from a seller for the price he sold them at, Bone Shad/Bull Bream The LC 1.5 is up there but the Spro Fat John has taken that over for me. Under what circumstances will you throw any type of crankbait? Ice out to Ice over, the cranks are thrown.... be it shad raps, flat sided mid divers or balsa flat sided squarebills for prespawners How do you determine what color crankbait to use? What factors tie in for you? Water clarity and/or cloud cover. Action of the bait(wobble/hunting action)is more important, personally, than color. I keep color selection simple and it's yet to fail. How do you set the hook when you know you've got a fish on? If I have a fish on, odds are i've already set the hook. The hookset really depends. In general, a sweeping hookset is traditionally accepted as the best way to set a treble hook lure. For the most part, I do set the hook /w a sweeping motion when the fish bites a certain way. There are times, however, that a fish will bite a squarebill a certain way (this is something you learn /w experience and I cannot explain it) where you can lay a hook set into them and not be worried. A lot of times this type of bite seems to come when you bringing a bait through cover. Are there any crankbaits that you've tried that you do NOT suggest? Hard to say. I've caught fish on Cotton Cordel $1.5 that worked in a manner that I expected from a $1.5 crankbait. I just prefer a higher quality bait that does things and has certain qualities a lesser bait doesn't. What techniques do you use for your selected crank? I throw them everywhere, especially in and around wood and rip rap. Name a good squarebill and in what situations to throw it! Spro Fat John around shallow rip rap-shad/bluegill spawn-backs of pockets around isolated brush Zoom WEC E1-Around wood, laydowns(specifically branches)

Suggest A Mh Cranking Rod
Well if you can find a super sale to get to your price range i'd recommend the dobyns 705cb glass. I think mine cost around 180 and 185. If that's out of range, I'd be very tempted to try the new Shimano Crucial or Fenwick eite tech cb rods. I believe smalljaw said he ordered the new fenwick elite tech 7'2 MH CB rod. I'm interested in what people have to say about those rods. They look promising. I think Daiwa came out /w a tatula glass CB rod.

No Slack Senko Finishing
Im actually not the incorrect. If you read through the posts you may realize you're in fact the minotiry on your school of thought. You fish plastics on 99% on mono and it works. Cool story? I didnt once say it doesnt work. I believe i said it does work. Mono isnt the best tool for the job on weightless presentations. You are better able to detect light bites with fluorocarbon on a slack line then using a mono on the surface.

Walmart Spinnerbaits - Best Spinnerbait Buck For Buck
I would have to say it isnt that "plain and simple". They are overlooked because they have a tick poor hook, skirt quality is laughable, the skirts dont stay on without modification, the wire its made from is weak and breaks easily and the paint comes off bu looking at it.

Shimano Stopping The Lifetime Warranty As Of 8-1-14
It's already been discussed. If your lifetime warrantied rod is replaced /w a new generation rod, it's given the new generation warranty. yes. you have to send them to shimano now. - All shimano rods with lifetime warranties will be honored IF you have original proof of purchase - ALL Shimano rods moving forward will have a 1-year warranty - There will be NO over the counter exchanges anymore, all rods must be shipped to Shimano and replacements will be mailed

Ever Lost A Rod?
I just got married so...yes.

No Slack Senko Finishing
That's actually incorrect. While mono works, it isn't the best tool for the job. Though mono is buoyant and does indeed aid in helping to line watch, its buoyancy is also it's biggest downfall. Being as mono floats and isn't a dense line, it is naturally bowed and creates a drag in the water and you are not in "complete" contact /w your bait. I say" complete" because you are obviously tied onto the bait. Fluorocarbon, being a dense line, doesn't have the bow or drag that mono does thus ensuring you are in direct contact /w your bait. I will say, being an avid finesse walleye fisherman in the spring/fall, mono definitely has its place shallow but weightless presentations is not one of them.

Soft Plastic Toads
5/0 or 6/0 SCREW in EWG hook (I can't remember which size I have to be honest but I rig these /w the hook almost to the butt end. you want a little "bow" in the belly to ensure the bait runs right side up.) Rage Toad Parallel shore line Hold on You will get strikes from these things in the most nonsensical places Rage Toads are some ridiculously good baits that have the durability of wet toilet paper but flat out catch fish.

[Suggest] A Top Water
What is your favorite top water lure? (who makes it, price, where you bought, color?) I have 4 Yellow Magic Japanese Popper-17$, I've bought them from various vendors, Smokey Shad and Black shad Spro Bronzeeye Poppin Frog-9$, Cabelas, Black Cavitron Buzzbait-6$, Scheels(I think), black/gold blades 3/16oz swim jig swam quickly on top through pads. Under what circumstances will you throw any type of top water lure? 49 degrees on up so i can get a jump start on Bluebasser What do you throw when there's vegetation underneath the surface? If this question pertains to only topwater baits, then I throw a frog first then a buzzbait if there's only weeds. If there's any sort of wood or brush popping out, It will be a frog, then popper, then buzzbait. If this is more of an all around question then my answer is very different. What do you throw when there is duckweed or lily's on top? A 3/16oz swim jig /w rage craw or paca craw trailer swam on the top through the pads A Frog A toad i.e Rage Toad Wakebait depending on how deep the weeds are from the surface Are there any top water lures you've tried that you do NOT suggest? Rapala X-rap Pop. I drank the kool-aid when this came out. Lesson learned.

No Slack Senko Finishing
If you want to feel slack line bites, use straight fluorocarbon. Braided line + fluoro leader will not give you the same benefit of straight fluorocarbons slack line sensitivity.
