  1. Can't wait to see RW's opinion on these again.
  2. Well Powell is a different rod company and unfortunately, rod powers aren't universal throughout the industry. The 735 in both the savvy and the champ have a very unique XF tip which allows them to very easily and effectively pitch and cast baits a tad lower than you would feel ideal. For example, I throw my Trig for the most part on DX744's and jigs on DX745. I would not want to throw (although it could but not well) a 1/4oz weight + power worm on the X745 but would and do easily do it on the 744. The champ 735 (not 733 or 745. these have a F tip) has an XF tip that can pitch a 1/4oz weight + plastic and is very very easy to cast/pitch jigs in the 3/8+ range. the champ 734 is more ideal for plastics but not 1/2oz jig + trailer in cover. Personally, if I had to to two techniques on one rod, I'd rather have too much rod than too little. If you aren't fishing in areas where you really have to pull fish out of brush/trees and what not, the 734 is a very good 3/8 jig rod and a texas rig rod and also not a bad senko rod. I did not read the part about tubes initially. get the 734. don't let grantman sway you into the 704. he's a small man. 734 is a mans rod.
  3. Champ 735 is an awesome jig stick in the champ line up
  4. Get a new handle, too. That t3b one is awful
  5. 5" Green pumpkin
  6. They are going to be introduced at ICAST. There's a few videos of mark davis showing the action of this bait in the water from a couple elite series events ago. Really cool looking bait.
  7. 6'8 mxf casting for topwater 6'3mxf spinning which is only used for vertical jigging walleye. Also own 2 69mlxf spinning rods that are used for both walleye and bass.
  8. I haven't used one but I've wanted to. This would be my choice in the 150 range though.
  9. I've found that throwing baits like a lipless crank or spinnerbait, the distance of each is pretty on par with each other. for pitching though (which I use 3 t31016s now) the 1016 spool is noticeably easier to pitch greater distances with less effort with baits from a 1/2oz jig and trailer down to a 3/16oz weight + baby bomb. (that's highest and lowest weights i've tried so far on my t3s). the t3 also shines if you are casting lighter baits. It's very noticeable the ease it does this and especially into the wind. as long as you don't have side to side play in the spool, you won't backlash into winds. As far as smooth retrieves, out of the box the 1016 wins. Once I deep cleaned my T3B (I had to remove all the shields and added a worm gear and drive shaft bearing. they were very cheap RC car bearings, too. the bearings were PACKED with junk) it was and still is just as smooth as my T3s.
  10. Well a weightless lizard and worm weighs significantly less than a senko. your avid 7'mf would be just fine for weightless senkos though. as for a weightless lizard or 7-10" worm, that is best suited for a spinning rod.
  11. I like their prices. It took a while for me to get shipping info after placing an order over a sale. They were a bit short /w me proclaiming "we got like 500 orders to process today, yours will be out tomorrow.." but they are a small operation so w/e. They screwed up an order of mine once sending me the wrong rod and received the correct rod 2-3 days later which was great. If you don't mind waiting, go /w them or contact TW and have them price match.
  12. I'd prefer 3 rods for the techniques you listed. DX745 pitching/heavytrigs/jigs DX744 anything up to 3/8oz trig/weightless senkos champ 704cb jerkbaits If I had to get to two i could get by /w the DX 744 and 704cb As for the reels, i don't like Quantum or Abu Garcia and I've never fished a 13.
  13. 51e for light stuff + heavy stuff Tatula for mid weight + Never used the bb1 pro. Tatula can cast baits like a 1/4oz swim jig + trailer just fine but has a hard time throwing the 1/4 bandit 100 size baits as well and effortlessly as the 51e. the 51e excels at that. before anybody comes in here and says "but i can throw a kvd 1.0 on my tatula just fine", it is possible and it can do it but it cannot do it as easily and effortlessly as a 51e. The 51e is obviously smaller and more compact. The tatula isn't any wider than a 200 size shimano. It's taller off the reel seat though which can feel odd to some. I really like the tatula but i have large hands. I've never encountered any mid range priced reel that can't bomb a 1/2oz lipless crank if it's properly cleaned. The tatula has a longer handle than the 51e. i prefer longer handles for spinnerbaits. a full spool of 20# braid may not even fill the spool on the tatula. it has a very deep spool. 20# braid is better suited on a 51E. get /w the 51e..
  14. they always do as long as BTD has the item IN STOCK.
  15. It won't work. They will catch it and are VERY good at catching it. I try it /w every single order and I've never been able to get away with it for sales or sale items. You will get the initial e-mail stating your purchase after you check out but once they confirm your order and process it you will notice the promo code has been removed.
  16. http://www.***.com/index.html?coup=2014REFUND
  17. TW 10% tax stimulus sale just started
  18. the pillow case i used last year on a fishing trip would beg to differ. my backside was cleaner in one swipe than it has ever been. you could wear those things like a glove and be a-ok.
  19. After exchanging PM's /w Ron on Monday while I was on the road meeting a few clients this week, he hooked me up with a solid price on a Champ 734c(can't have enough 4 power champs in your line up). Not only that....the rod will be here on FRIDAY(tomorrow)....free shipping....day I get home. I couldn't ask for better. Any other vendor I would be waiting until next week. Thank you Ron!!
  20. I'm fortunate enough to have a man cave in my house. At a time though, it was kept on gorilla rack shelving and rod racks in a garage. Now its pegboards/shelving/rod racks indoors where I can touch it all the time time =)
  21. I just started using the Missle Baits Shockwave last week. It is one amazing paddle tail. The action on the bait is just fantastic.
  22. Cant beat this for jigs and frogs
