It always sucks when you pull a nice one out and you have no way to get a good pic, or no scale. I had one I am sure over 7 just like that a pic of the stretch Armstrong. Did you get a weight on that Lou?

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Jman is giving up all the good stuff today! I use leaders, mono, when I want to retie a lot as it saves braid or when I throw popr or jerk baits. But my mono isn't strong enough for jigs etc on the braid. And look this way D I would do two BC and one spinning. Keep the spinner for poprs and hard baits and weightless plastics then one BC for frogs/jigs and one for plastics/spinnerbaits. I just ordered my second casting setup. And this is how I plan to roll for the time being. Until that monkey get on my back lol

Jax Fl Hittin The Saltwater Today
Ok I was gonna pick up some z-man or storm wild eye. Appreciate it. I got a 7 yr old that is dying to catch some trout or reds. We never get to many chances to make it out to anywhere to do salt, we stick to the ponds close to home cause it is quick and easy.

I am going to try this. when I switched to braid on my spinning gear I really on no difference once I got used to working the bait with braid. I feel you need to impart less action than on mono due to mono being stretchy and limp. I have always been wondering after your post I wonder even more. Must pick up floro leader!

Yep I learned on mono but once you get braid you won't go back. I did go back to mono on a spinning setup unless heavy pads or salt. It is sooo much easier picking a backlash out and just in general.

Best all around would be a MH/F in a 1/4-3/4 or up to 1 oz lure range. You can do a wide range with that from lipless, spinnerbaits, jigs, Texas rigs and frogs.

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Cool man, congrats on the redfish I am still waiting to get mine! Lol I suggest get out today or tomorrow they are bedding and feisty a front is coming through and should be good. Temp drop after that. Got 3 on a lipless this morning. Spinnerbaits, creatures, swimbaits, small worms been working. Look for any cover like culverts etc. in the retention ponds most will bed around these due to lack of structure.

Yeah my biggest so far this year were on watermelon 4.5" worm and a spinner bait. Watermelon is the go to color seems like . Got one on a crank the other day too. Good luck at tarpon!

Not everyone is fishing wrong bud! Lol Jman, Lou and I seem to be having fairly good success too. Me personally spinnerbaits and smaller 4-6" worms or creatures been the ticket. Big plastics not so much.

Good post Lou this is so true.

Crock-O-Gator Bait Company
I just checked out the website. I like the buzzbaits, especially the looped line tie so the knot don't slide and that brown purple scale zapper jig has the bait monkey taunting me. Lol

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
I am the same my left is worthless. RW made a point with a spinning combo you fight the fish with the rod so you put that in your strong hand. With a BC combo the reel is essentially a winch and the rod more guides the line so you crank your winch with your strong hand. But basically is boils down to what you feel is best. The only draw back to lefty reels is there are less models that are lefty and usually released last and hard to find on sale or closeout.

Quantum Tour Kvd Sale
It does look good and the new ones look even better. All red and black...But I like the ones i usrd so far and hear from others too the ACS brakes are better than the mag. The accurist I have heard is pretty good and the offer a combo. If you like white. The catalyst is the comparable ACS reel. Also if you look on ebay you can find the older accurist and kinetics that are the silver and red for about $60. I also found nice rod for $60 shipped to match that price.

Quantum Tour Kvd Sale
No no no tbone they are closing out those models. The kvds on sale are from what I hear very good. Quantum updated the line up so they are on sale. I think A-Jay has some of the rods and reels, KVD tour. I picked me up an energy when the closed out the four for the new orange model. It is an awesome reel. They do have a new KVD team out too. Now I dunno if I would grab that one, mag brakes. I have used and hear the ACS is where it is at and I tend to agree
