Got my first bass a couple weeks ago. Last week I went fishing 3 times. Twice for 1.5 hours and once for 7 hours. I got nothing to show for it but experience. I went fishing today for 5.5 hours and nothing again. I want to let you guys what Im doing and using and any tip that I can get that can help me get better(and doesnt break the bank) ill try it. Im going fishing again tomorrow and I may spend the whole day on the lake again. Please help me get on a roll and start catching fish more regularly. Im using a medium light ugly(ugly) stick lol. daiwa spinning reel. (i dont have money to buy a G loomis for now) 15 # braid. Should I use flouro? fishing from shore a 200 to 400 acre lake(im not sure of the size). mostly fishing Senkos. when I get tired I fish a surface lure like a popper(im dying to catch one on a popper) I did use it today. I also fished a rapala shad rap and a spinnerbait for a while. Usually I dont texas rig worms. I think I should. I dont know what a drop shot is, so Im reading about it. I dont use or know about finesse worms or shaky rigs. I have an Alabama rig that I dont use. I dont use the carolina rig either. dude if you ever need a partner let me know. ive been to 3 of the reservoirs in PR. Im nothing more than a beginner even though I know my home lake(yauco) like the back of my hand.

I fish from shore so I cant cast over to all of the piers. Its on a Reservoir in the top part of it where it receives the water from two rivers. this area is not the river area but its very close to it. When Im not fishing, Im reading and watching wfn and looking for information and techniques and ways to improve. So far Im trying to get as much experience as I can and I want to visit as many spots as I can to try different stuff on them. best thing is I can fish year round!!

I went to Walmart today and like I always do I couldnt leave without a fishing lure. So I got a torpedo. I remember I Had one 15 years ago. I want to know, compared to today, what is the best topwater splash making lure? (I also have a jitterbug)

i just got my jj scent. WOW this thing is SO freaking smelly its not even funny. theres like the smell of a 10000 garlic cloves in one jar, hopefully bass in my lake like garlic. I dont think many people use scents here but ive been wrong about other things.

i finally got one!!!! it was awesome, got it on a senko watermelon with a chartreuse tip. very nice worm. the bass hit the worm when I was pulling it up right before I was going to release it. awesome experience. it was around 230 pm and after that i didnt get a bite for the rest of the day. i think its possible the bass are biting more midday.

so do you guys think that the smell of the scent is going to make the fish move in to check the smell source? maybe bite the worm just with the wiggle and the smell? is it that strong that some of you are saying it will open my nostrils? i got megastrike and jjs on my way already, I will like to know where I can find a crawfish scent? what exactly is the smell of megastrike? they say its aminoacids...

I have this couple old cranks. 3 are bomber model a if im not mistaken. I left these at my old box but lately ive been thinking that I can put them to use. the deep diver I can use to explore the depths. the two that are deep divers I want to fix them up, maybe keep the baby bass color as it is. The other I dont know what I can do to make them better. I want to mod that one and maybe make it a one of a kind something totally out of the ordinary. the one with the heart looking tip i dont have a single idea about it. What do you guys say? are there any guides out there to mod these? the sound they make is awful as they are right now.

too late my friend. Ive been on a search for different kind of baits that are readily available. Im sure if its nasty smelling for the fish im gonna catch catfish, if its nasty smelling to me im gonna catch tilapia(they love worms and nightcrawlers are their favorites) and if its awesome i may get some bass LOL ive tried a LOT of baits, from luncheon meat, corn, liver, chicken skin, you name it!!! forgot about bacon, time to try something different.

I fish in lakes where the prey its usually shad, maybe crawdads but in little amounts. Ive been getting constantly skunked and Im definitely looking to improve everything I can. I want to know, whats the best scent on the market? How big of a boost is using a scent vs using plastics the way they come? I want to use it mostly on senkos is it ok for it?

Today I drove for around 4.5 hours to go and return from fishing. almost damaged my car as I was driving though a massive pouring rain(semi flooded street on a place not very familiar to me) and fished under rain in order to just try to get a chance. what Ive learned: I saw by myself how fish stacked itself on places of cover. I saw LM alone standing very close to the shore looking into the deep areas. I saw peacock bass swimming around in a group off 6 fish. I saw how LM although very small were like patrolling the shore but the LM were alone. the jaws theme song came to mind. That lake has a goldfish looking fish. I dont know how its called but there were a lot. If i were fishing with live bait i would have pulled a lot of fish. i fished thru rain not knowing what lure to use. I tried a popper being really loud with it and i got nothing. Also tried a spinnerbait and got nothing with it either. i bought polarized glasses. I had use Costas del mar but the cheap one work just as good for fishing. Those glases made me feel like i had x ray glases. WOW what a difference. I finally got a bite!!! i didnt landed the fish but i got a bite. It started pulling my bait into the water, i noticed a little late. it started pulling slowly, it probably was a small fish, it did it slowly, when i noticed i set the hook and i felt the pressure even though my reel sucks more on that in a little while. once i set the hook it kept the lure for a little while and then the fish let it go. It was a senko wacky rigged. got hit after i did the first cast and i was waiting for the 30 second count. the worm actually got teared considerably but it seemed like the fish held one end of the bait around half and inch from the hook. i believe it was a small fish or a really late hook set. my reel is a spinning reel, i always use the lock on. when i went to set the hook it releases line and pressure for more than half a turn. its like 6 inches of line. so the handle moves back a lot when it should only be going back and inch or less like a daiwa reel i have. I already did the swap if you are wondering. is it usual for LM to be loners? what is the best for fishing under rain? whats the best technique or lure for heavily pressured water? I know im fishing with all the odds against me. if i get good while doing this i know that when the levels of the lake drop considerably and the bites get a better I will destroy the fish. thanks!

i have to admit it my friends, I have relapsed. went to the local kmart looking for a vanish line and went out with a spiderwire stealth, a booyah spinner bait, a bag of culprit ribbon tails and a bag of yum hawk tail thingies ooohhh and a rapala same color of the shad rap I have but its bigger and thicker( for the really hungry fish) $48 more spent, my wife doesnt know how much Im spending otherwise I would be single right as we speak. worse thing is my rod is an ugly stick 6.5 foot medium action. it came with a crappy shakespeare reel. this thing when setting the hook, it goes 3 quarters back meaning, the handles moves back and it locks itself a lot late. Its a spinning reel. I have a daiwa around that is a little older, its definitely a very good reel. so I swapped reels when I got back here today. I dont know how much time i can wait, i know i like abu garcia line of setups. ohhh God, that its going to cost me a lot.

what do you mean by that? buying more? Excuse me, English is not my first language. I will love to buy from other vendors like the guy that sells plastics from here. those are cheap and look very good. But yes, I suck at this kind of fishing and I want to start catching bass and learning all these new techniques.

I have 0 spoons, jerkbaits, or finesse worms as far as I know. i have a LOT of crancks a lot of plastics and now i went out and bought 9 kvd and other spinsterhood. So yes I pretty much have a bunch of fishing tackle and Im not proficient on any of it. Im ok on senkos cause ive been practicing a LOT and I can cast a crank and retrieve, besides that, nothing else. I want to know what are must have in everybody's tackle box.? when its enough? whats a finnesse worm?

I love plastics for this reason alone. you lose one and you only lose cents maybe a dollar(senko) doesnt hurt as much as losing a 20 crank or a good spinnerbait.

Ive been trying for 2 months now. Ive been fishing around 6 times now. not a single fish yet. As far as I know ive gotten a bite once or twice. I wish I could catch a fish cause Im starting to get a little frustrated. To the point that Im gonna go into a different reservoir this next week. wednesday and thrusday if I can. hopefully my luck changes. Fishing from shore makes it even harder for me.

I went fishing yesterday for around 6 hours. I spent most of the time fishing senkos. as soon as I got there to the first spot I rigged a senko/fat ika and fished it for around 2 hours. I got nothing. then I went with a rat l trap, cranks, frogs and other worms and got nothing. I realized something though, I saw something that a Ranger confirmed later, the lake has what they call sardines(shad) and thats the main food source of the local bass. The lake also has blue gill and it may have craws but in little amounts. I didnt get a bite but my uncle(who has been fishing bass here for 15 years) tells me that since the levels of the reservoir are high, the sardines are in the shallows eating from the vegetation(saw this myself today, they were eating some kind of moss) since they are eating in the shallows the bass are feeding pretty much exclusively on shad. I have two options that I can think of, I can keep trying and struggling until it goes down and gets much better, or I can visit another lake. Find new water is what I will do for the moment. Should I use lures that mimic a shad in this lake?

awesome information here!! thanks a lot guys. Im going fishing tomorrow. Lets see what happens and how good I do. Hopefully I get to land a couple nice bass. Deadeye has a great point, a spot within the spot is a really interesting thing ill try to find it.

here is a picture of the lake I usually go to. Here it has a slightly lower level than now. Ive seen this place so dry that from the middle of it a very old(from the 1940s) factory pipe comes out. its an awesome watch. The legend there: in red its the spots ive been to in the last month or two since I came back to fishing. this is the time when I got hooked on fishing again!!! the 3 pots close to each other are the ramp and surrounding areas. in orange are spots ive visited before and I havent had much success. Orange square is one spot where I saw my cousin pull a bass from. the two pink spots are places where im planning to go soon, soon as in wednesday. the one that has markers close to it has a lot of big rocks and many spaces between those. Ive always thought that there must be bass around there in that much cover. the pink spot thats all alone is below a bridge and it has a lot of vegetation inside the water. thats to the right to the left the pillars of the bridge may attract a lot of bass as those are huge and great cover I guess. the Purple spot is a spot where there is rocks but its very steep. I think this is also a good spot for bass. Finally the yellow spot is where I learned to fish. Its far away from the beaten path. My cousin pulled a 7 pounder from this spot. Ive never gone empty handed from this place. Its also very hard to get to. You have to go thru private property, thru animals and wires. I know that if I go here, I will fish, but its so hard to get there. Its also a place not to go in alone. Im trying to assemble a group of friends to go here. should I visit those places with lots of rocks? the spot with the weeds with a frog or a weedless senko?
