I would also go with shaw grisby. There is something about IKE that also makes me want to learn from him and its the fact that he is always innovating. I would hate if he started screaming because since I was a kid I was taught to be stealthy.

Ike says that when the mouth is red like that the fish have been eating craws. try to get jigs that match the local craws. great fish and great story.

i believe in this. I use an ugly stick spinning and it works well. The difference lies in your comfort level, performance and sometimes making your life easier. I prefer my baitcasting Abu veritas/daiwa combo over the Ugly by a mile but I dont hessitate to pull the spinning any time i need to.

is this legal to the rangers of the lake? Its a great idea to do this in the lake I fish since it has NO cover.

Ive just finished working the highest paying week of my year. Its NYE that makes it amazingly good at my waiter job. My wife is ticked because I want to use all the money and then some into buying my first boat(which is not a lot anyways around 1600). Shes also kinda mad that I want to store the boat in the garage that none of us are using right now because we let the cars sit outside. the packages of baits arrive at my in-laws so she always knows first. she always starts talking about how I have enough. Last time I changed the tune and told her all the bait I dont have enough or very little of: jigs, chatterbaits, jerkbaits and like always spinnerbaits. lol she responded saying they all look the same and they all should catch fish because the problem is not the arrow, its the archer. so in other words she told me I suck at fishing. And she may be right. anyways When she gets kinda mad about anything I clean the house for her and I cook her a nice meal and she forgets about everything. Also, im not the bad guy here, she has like 1000 pair of shoes and she buys more and more every time she gets a chance. Its me being puzzled about it thinking, what does she need more shoes for? she only has 2 feet

Im seriously considering dropping the money for the extended version as I just finished watching the first episode. It is awesome. I agree that this is the way the classic should be run. there were guys there that ive never seen and after the episode you knew something else about them. Its a great way to market the pros and the sport. Unlike some of you, I love the idea of the penalties and ensuring the fish get the best handling possible. How can you get the public to do it right if the best at catching them, treat them like a dirty sock? Im really happy with Grisby getting in there. I really like him for some reason. I think its his happy, relaxed personality even when he has the Magnum PI look.

Most of the Reservoirs in PR are in the 200-300 acres in size then theres one thats 1300 acres. My home lake is 260 and the other close lakes are smaller than that. we dont have strong current or waves other than the one generated by other boaters. im most likely gonna start beating the bank. If the prices seem high its because vehicles are so much more expensive here. I called a guy to buy a new boat from the dealer, a 12 foot jon and they asked me for around 2 thousand when you guys have dealers all over the US selling jon boats at 400-600$$. Its ridiculous but thats the way things are here when buying boats, cars ect.

Im in the market for a floating device. Kayaks and canoes are out of the equation because I really like to fish with other people. Ive been in love with tin boats forever. My uncle has one. Ive been on it twice. I kinda like it. Money is one factor.Then theres the fact that ill tow it with a car so it cant be heavy. hopefully ill have the money for a boat I found last week. Im kinda having buyers remorse without even buying the thing. Its a 12 V hull jon boat with a 10hp mercury, a trolling motor, seats and all the security gear for $1600. The pros: It has everything and its ready to fish even though I dont have the license. its a V hull and I could use it for the flats in saltwater It seems like it has enough space for everything and I can fit another person or two in it. leg room and space. cons: it may be a little heavier. its more expensive. the other option is a 10.5 basshunter. the guy is asking 1395 obo Also ready to fish with seats and both electric and gas motors. stability worries me. then space seems very limited and im a gear head Most people and that means everybody uses jon boats in this lake. that alone pushes me into thinking thats the way to go here. law says 30hp max. What are your opinions guys?

theres a guy selling a 10.5 boat with both motors. what are the common flaws on a used boat like these? what can i use to lower the price? Its actually a pretty steep 1400 obo boat that has the seats integrated, has a electric motor and a gas outboard.

find the money to get anything that floats. im at 8 bass for the year, I want to reach 10 and for next year, with a boat will be easier, get this years goal of 100 bass. Hopefully I do it.

hi salenity its not a big hand, its a small fish LOL. it was around 11 inches. Fun to catch though and it put up a nice fight. sun fish its a lake managed by the dept of natural resources of PR. I dont like the way they run things but who am I to change things. I want to change the limits. Its a 10 bass per person limit. Nothing less than 12 inches. I think it should be 5 bass per person, no fish smaller than 12 inches and no fish over 16 inches or 4 pounds. if you dont follow the rules you get a fine or you get banned from the lake.

so today I went fishing again. I also fished yesterday. I found out that when I drag a shakey head with a trick worm I can get bass to bite. I do it in a rocky area where it gets stuck and I picture the worm going wild with me yanking from the other end. That triggers bites. To be honest I dont know how to properly shake it. anyways there was a bird that bit on to something. I ran over to see what it was, It was a craw fish. I was stoked, I thought there was none here. so i took a picture and i threw it back so my friend could eat it. I caught one bass on the shakey head. Ive rounded the forage for bass to this: shad(the small ones) tilapia shell cracker(we also got shells here but bass dont eat those) Frogs and tadpole craw fish small ducks (confirmed by one of the rangers) maybe small turtles(we got a small turtle population. One question before i post the PICS: what jig head is good for dragging thru rocks? My Friend! and a view of the rocks here my setup The craw banged up by the bird my catch The rain made me left early. I had like 3 more hours but it was pouring on.

I dont know if I should be happy or mad. screw it im happy. I got 2 bites today in around 1 hour of fishing. considering I was catching 1 bass per month I think it was a good day. First fish came after pulling a jig head on the bottom thru rocks.the action simulated something feeding on the bottom. I got her on a cheap spinning setup i have with 6# mono . when she, a 12-14 inch bass, came close to me she jumped out of the water like these beautiful creatures love to do and broke my line. considering i have a baitcaster with 50 pound braid I almost punched myself. It was the only worm i had on that color, it was a ashy linda silvery color. I emptied the tackle box looking for another and I found nothing. A bright green worm, a limetreuse, and a brown worm(straight tail from zoom that has a fatty end. sorry i cant remember the name) ohhh yeah zoom trick worm. second came on the brown worm same presentation and it bit the worm like 4 feet from shore started running, i didnt set the hook right and i missed her. Either way Ive finally figured a way to entice bites. I WAS STOKED. maybe next time i get to pull one and I get more pics. what jig head is good for dragging on the bottom?

The lake is changing a LOT. I got fishing today for like 2 hours. the fish were going crazy all over the place I could see many 2-3 inch bass 1 foot from shore. I also saw a lot of tilapia small mostly. I had a big 3-5 pound fish couple feet from shore that I tried luring into my spinnerbait. It just looked at it and showed no interest. Still seeing a big bass feet from shore is better than seeing a lot of bass in the middle of the lake where I cant catch them. I guess things are looking up!!!

we dont have carp here in PR(and I hope it stays that way). But I constantly see small catfish going up into the surface and kind of rolling. It was confusing at first and I thought those were bass but Im not confused anymore. Tilapia could be violent here and there but the splash of a bass cannot be replicated by other fish. Its so violent they look like shark if its deep and the look like killer whales when they flush prey on shore. Its a sight for sure.

I finally broke the spell. It was kinda weird cause I went over to talk to the ranger and he is also a fisherman and he has caught only 2 bass in that lake. I started talking about tackle with him and I told him about senkos, he didnt knew what were the senkos so I brought my tackle box over and showed him and then I did the most reasonable thing, gave him two senkos and a hook. He was really happy and thankful. I then went to fish by the boat ramp, there was nobody fishing the lake but me. I went over to pick up the spinnerbait rod and I something told me to go with the senko like I told the guy. made my first cast and by the time I was doing the third pull she took my line in and I pulled her out. I couldnt get the hook out so I cut the line and I slid the eye out and off of the fish. She is not as big as she looks like. She is around 11-12 inches. Another fact is that the lake went WAY up almost about to spill over. I fish from shore that boat is the boat of the rangers. I have 2 spots that I can fish right now. I used to have like 15 with the lower levels. I saw somebody selling a bass hunter 10.2 for 750 obo. I dont know if that a good deal but It doesnt have the trailer and Im gonna pull it with a car so i need a trailer. I need something to float and fish in this lake.

like the guys from the south I Can fish year round. this is my first year though. I live in the caribbean, its eternal summer here. Winter for us is temperatures of high 70s. If only the people did catch and release(and the lakes were managed better) we would have great fisheries maybe even compared to those in mexico.
