Lost A Fish On My Frog....what Happened?
Frog's gone, set the hook!! Take to much time thinking about where in the mouth the frog is located and that bass spit it out the frog already.

New To Bass Fishin
I can understand why this was said. However, if you study your surroundings you will eliminate coming across any of nature's threats. I bank fish a lot in South FL and I have yet in my 30 + yrs of fishing faced any real danger in the reptilian variety. That being said, I fish areas where I can minimize my chances of surprising one of these creatures. I want them to see me first and quietly leave rather than walking up on one and surprising them.

Joining Braided Lines....
Just re-spool with fresh braid. Problem solved. Trying to save the little braid you have left on your spool is futile. Its going to lead to problems especially if the joining knot is hitting those guides. Your asking for break off down the line. Just my .02

Young Low Budget Anglers
Once I know your budget my opinion might change, but when I was younger and starting to build my rod arsenal, BPS was my go to spot. Back then, I didn't know any better and forums were not in the picture, I bought BPS tourney specials and Penn 2500 or Abu cardinal spinning reels. Caught a lot of fish on them, and had a blast doing so. I just cleaned out my little fishing room over the wknd and smiled when I saw that I still had those rods and reels from over 15yrs ago. I don't know if they still carry those rods, but Carbonlite's are another option as well.

Welcome. What bodies of water do you enjoy fishing down here in South FL? Your profile didn't share that with us.

How Do You Prepare
My sling pack is always ready for situations like those. I have a designated outfit for bank fishing so i just grab that. Bass fishing does not have to be so cerebral. I know guys that freeze in their tracks trying to figure out what to take and throw. Geesh... just go fishing!!

Leaving Hooks In Soft Plastics Bag?
Wouldn't advise that, your hook will begin breaking down.

Which Minn Kota Bow Mount Model Do You Prefer?
I run a 55lb thrust,12volt, MK Maxxum, variable speed. It cost me some $$ but well worth it on my tracker pro team 165. Quiet, smooth, and very battery efficient for those long fishing days. Throw in there a ninja blade, and you have a very formidable shallow water fishing boat.

Thinking Of Upgrading My Frog Rod, Any Suggestions?
My bank fishing frogging set up consists of a 7ft Avid MH rod with a Lews TTPro HS. This particular rod has served me well for many years bank fishing. It's a tough rod that handles a lot of abuse and has great backbone. Yes the price point is on the upper range of your budget, but you will get many years of svc with this rod, plus backed up by a St. Croix life time warranty. This rod also serves as a multi-application rod well. Which makes it excellent for bank fishing in South Fl, especially with so many Peacocks around. Hint...hint... Lol!!

Thinking Of Upgrading My Frog Rod, Any Suggestions?
Bank fish frogging, I would recommend a MH, Xfast, 7ft rod. A longer rod would be ideal, but not for bank fishing. You and I fish similar waters in the Miami-Dade area. I encounter situations where if I had rod longer than 7 ft, the rod runs a high risk of damage due to the surroundings. Trees, shrubs, uneven banks along the canals, etc. In this particular case, a rod in the $100 - $150 price point would be ideal for this scenario.

Here are a couple of thoughts. The first thing, I would personally change is the mono. You will not have the umph... you need to really drive the hook home. 30 blow ups and 0 connections means there is a problem. Are sure they were bass? If so, they were probably little guys. Your profile is very vague so I can't speculate what other species of fish it could have been because I don't know where you live or fish. Sorry.- Anybody Ever Notice Some Of The Emoticons On This Site?
Is it me or has this emoticon list been expanded. I came across some pretty funny ones that I know I haven't seen on here before.- He Should Have Stuck To Catch And Release
Extreme caution must be exercised when handling big fish. These creatures are very powerful. I was offshore fishing once with my BIL and he caught a big beautiful dolphin (mahi). When we brought it on board this fish went ballistic. My BIL trying to subdue the fish during this melee, was struck right across his face with the tail. Impact was so hard his sunglasses flew off his face and into the ocean. (Great pair of Costa's sadly) Fortunately, he was not seriously hurt like the man in the video, but he did get knocked pretty good.- Teaching Update...
Best of luck on your teaching endeavor.- Hig Producing Pond Has Quit. I Mean Quit.
Welcome to bass fishing.... an area can be hot for while and then cold. The good news is, you are fishing a 3 acre pond. That's pretty small. You can use your electronics and see if they are stacking up somewhere. They are still there if you are the only one allowed to fish that pond.- Glades Water Levels
I don't like to hear that. Tis the season for the high water. It's the cycle of life out in the glades. This year the high water arrived a little late than in the past. These storms are definitely not helping. - Bad Frog Experience Please Help
