  1. I use a Curado I with a HawgTech handle for my frogging. Great reel for that application. I also have a CH50E. Given the choice as a frogging reel I will lean towards the Curado I. The 50E is a great reel I love mine and it better serves me in other applications.
  2. Keep at it. Frogs can be extremely rewarding if you stick with them. People put them down way to early after a little while of no action. Just like any other big bass bait, you have to cover water until you come across a fish. I caught this guy this past Sunday frogging down in my neck of the woods. It went for an even 6lbs.
  3. Unless the lake is or fishing area is completely over grown then you have problem. If the area is spotty with growth then its fishable. If you choose to frog fish, i would cast past the pockets and then work the frog right up to the opening. Pause. Then slowly resume working the frog. If a bass is there it will crush the frog as it makes its way across the opening. Be ready to set the hook hard and wrestle the fish above as much of the hydrilla as possible.
  4. It sounds pretty froggy to me. Our air temps may be in the mid 80's but the water temps are not there yet. Fish will be active and with the weed cover it provides multiple spots for them to hang out in. Use your strongest set up cast a frog. With that much weed growth pulling a good fish out of cover will require strong gear.
  5. Like someone mentioned already. The fish has been caught before and the wound is healing. Very common.
  6. Went out with my BIL, to a canal out in WEST MIAMI that he came across 2 yrs ago that holds some very nice bass. Yesterday was no exception. I caught both of these beauties throwing a LT hollow body frog. The smaller bass came in at 22" and the bigger one came in at 22.75" and an even 6lbs. Enjoy!!
  7. Which one is the best, varies from person to person. The brand that I really enjoy are Livetarget hollowbodies. Have been using them for years.
  8. Glad you had a fun visit. Sorry about your gear. Lesson learned unfortunately. Never ever leave gear unattended. Theft really ticks me off.
  9. That's a big frog. I don't have a clue. Maybe someone will chime in soon with the answer.
  10. Too bad you didn't snap a pic of it.
  11. I see this a lot. Why they do it? I don't know. Every time I see this happen however is when I see a big bass and the same bass sees me. Instead of swimming off, the bass yawns with its mouth really wide showing me what I am missing. Then the fish swims off.
  12. I just cup my hand over the spool if I see I am going to over a shoot the target area.
  13. No, I have not. The only Central FL lake I have fished on has been Lake Kissimmee, twice.
  14. Thank you, I am 16 yrs past due!! LOL!! But hey, you never know this may be the year.
  15. Glad you enjoyed your South FL trip WELDS!! You guys really put a hurting to them. The fishing hole you have access to is very special to say the least. Congrats to the 2 of you in catching your PB's
  16. 580P Man-o-war, with green lens. I also like the anti glare clips that can be attached or removed whenever you want.
  17. 50lb is very manageable. The only way you can birdnest that line pretty bad is if you have never handled a baitcaster before or if you had some kind of casting accident. Other than that, 50 lb braid will not dig into itself as bad as let's say anything under 30lb braid.
  18. I say this and sometimes that. But mostly this ....... Lol!!
  19. Welcome to BassResource. That fish was caught at Amelia.
  20. Here is an older thread for Bank fishing that received numerous posts and good tips. Enjoy the read. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/126667-bank-fishing-forum/?hl=%2Bbank+%2Bfishing
  21. Check to see if the screw (top right corner) that allows you to access the spool is tighten down all the way. When i had a revo s that screw would often come loose causing the screeching sound you are describing. Tighten it down and the problem should go away. Good luck.
  22. South Broward lakes offer nice peacock fishing, the ro*** you will encounter is that these lakes are on private residential communities. So no trespassing. However, there are several canals in these areas that can be accessible. The only lakes that I know of in South Broward that are accessible are in public parks. CB smith, Vista, Miramar regional, and Tree Tops quickly come to mind.
  23. Get the 580's. Your eyes will thank you for them. The clarity is awesome. The warranty on these glasses are awesome as well. I have utilized Costa's warranty program a couple of times already and they have taken great care of me and returned my glasses good as new. Good luck on your choice.
  24. Welcome to canal fishing in Miami. Sometimes canals produce, and sometimes they can be void of life. If you don't see baitfish around keep moving until you find signs of life. You may have to cover a lot of ground to find this.
