Lol. The first one was on a swimming fluke, and the 2nd was with a stickworm.

None of my Curado's ever felt geary out of the box. All i did with mine is flush the bearings and fish them. If yours is geary talk to DVT and see what the deal is. If not send it back.

I caught this beauty at the park today. She came in at 5lbs and was 22" long. She fell for a soft plastic. I also posted some pretty Pea's I caught yesterday but that's on "Other species" forum.

Here are a couple of pea's i came across during my outing at a local canal yesterday. Enjoy!!

All I can say right now is that love is in the air in the canals. Peacocks and Bass are spawning. As far as the water levels go, the canals in my area are low. This makes peacock fishing interesting since they like to hang out around the limestone. As the water recedes, the limestone is exposed which drive the fish closer to the bank. Luckily for the fish, I will catch one or two for fun and quickly release. Other's if they manage to see these fish will pluck them from the water and put them in their buckets. Bass are in full spawning mode right now. Saw three beds with bucks. One had a nice female not ready to commit yet. The other two where literally spawning with the full ritual of the body rubs and shakes. When this is happening forget about fishing for them. One nest in particular was a full out orgy. Pardon the expression. I have never seen this before. One nest, 4 bass. One big female, and what appeared to be 3 bucks. All I can say is that there was a lot of activity on that nest. lol!! Another possibility is, 1 buck and three females waiting in line. Either way, very interesting seeing mother nature doing her thing.

Are you sure they were bass? Down here when that happens its usually big blue tilapia. Bass are very stealthy when they exit fast. All you see is the swirl in the water but never splash unless they were in extremely shallow water.

Pads can be tricky from the bank. Especially when your bait falls between the middle of the pad. The line hangs between the pad and hangs up on the stem. The best advice i can give you is to make sure your hook is not exposed to minimize hang ups. Fishing braid in this situation is also helpful. If you get hung up pull with constant tension and more than likely you will pull the pad or rip the bait away.

Palming a reel is big deal. Especially for prolonged periods of time. If the reel just doesn't feel right after a few minutes, the feeling will get worse after several hours. Find a reel that you are comfortable palming. I hear Tatula are great reels. The style was not for me however. Reels that have palmed right for me were/are: Shimano's Abu's Lew's.

A weightless senko/stickworm will catch you fish. For bottom contact I recommend using the least amount weight possible. For ex: I only throw my stickworms either with a 1/32 oz or 1/16 oz. An 1/8oz starts to become way too heavy. Just a thought.

LOL... I had to do a double take when I saw you were from Virginia, but liked to catch peacocks in Hialeah Gardens. That's one city over from me. LOL. Going back to your question, if you are coming down in late March early April, our water temps should be up around upper 70's. Although peacocks can be easily found in the summer, they can be found in the Spring just well. Cold fronts in late March early April although rare, may happen but they will not be severe. Late March thru June is a magical time down here in South FL.

The crank may work, but it depends what the vegetation is like on that lake. If the lake has a lot of hydrilla, and you are limited from shore then that bait will not be the greatest choice. However there are countless other baits you can be using. Flukes, stick baits, trick worms, spinnerbaits, frogs, spooks. The list can go on and on. Take your time be patient and work the cover from different angles. Best of luck, have fun and remember to report good or bad.

Hands down the LEWS TTPRO. I had both reels at the same time and I kept my TTPRO and substituted the STX with another kicka$$ reel of another brand.

15-20 lb braid will handle all those applications and give you a little bit of muscle power being its 15-20 lb.

I was within an oz of matching my PB, last yr. My fish was not an anomaly, its a common range for LMB. I am still on my hunt for my anomaly though.

I think you though of it, and missed including it.... lol... it happens to me a lot too. Going back to your original post, if you have a 2 ft leader of mono let's say, then yes braid can work. I still would prefer straight mono or copoly, but if braid had to be used for this application braid can work. Just adjust your drag and the power of your hookset. Braid has 0 stretch, and 2 ft leader I don't feel is enough shock absorption. Just my .02 Best of luck to you.
