  1. We went out of US 27 yesterday and although it was slower than usual, we still managed to boat 20 fish. They were nice chunks. No monsters but we did lose a few pigs.
  2. I owned the 2 Gen SX, and that reel treated me very well. I currently own the STX, this reel has also treated me well, but i will have to agree it is very geary. Even after it was fully serviced the geary sound and feeling still remains. It does not effect performance, but compared to Lews and Shimano's which i also own, the Stx ranks below them. Lews and Shimano's operate smoother and much quieter.
  3. I love BF, but for reasons others have mentioned. It's a perfect day to be out on the water. I have been doing just that for 14 yrs. If people want to go out in the wee hours of the morning and deal with large crowds so be it. That is their choice. Me on the other hand.... I will stick with my BF tradition. Just like Catch and Grease mentioned that's what computers are for.
  4. So sorry to hear about your boss's tragic accident. My thoughts to him, his family, and business.
  5. WOW!!!!! Great job dealing with your nemesis. How many pounds did that pig go for?
  6. Although this question was asked already a couple of days ago, I will share my opinion. I use the equivalent diameters of the two lines as my minimum. For example, I use pp braid and Yozuri copoly as my fishing lines. So if I were using 40lb braid the equivalent diameter more or less to that will be 12lb copoly. It may not be exact, but its a general rule of thumb that I have found that will work for my fishing applications.
  7. To answer the OP question. Yes, Amazon is a reliable place to purchase reels. I have. Looking at the sellers rating will give you a very good idea if you can purchase from them. Also, sellers on Amazon are smaller on-line retailers themselves. You can find quality reels up to $50 off retail prices. For example I have picked up Lews TT pro's for $150, when they retail for $199. Just the other day Curado I's and Lews LFT 's were selling for $139. Just have to take the time and do your research.
  8. I know several have mentioned a digital copy. I read this tip some time ago on here, and I did it immediately. I made copies of my license. It looks exactly as the master copy. I keep a copy in each of my tackle bags. My bank fishing bag and my boat fishing bag. My license is a card now so i keep that in my wallet at all times. Never been asked to show my license although i have been stopped for boat safety checks.
  9. Good luck Mike. I will be fishing 27 on Saturday with my son. I did pretty good over there last Saturday.
  10. It looks like a normal bass to me.
  11. Rods: St Croix and Dobyns. Reels: Shimano and Lews. Line: Power Pro and Yozuri.
  12. Welcome!! Several of the South Florida members interact frequently over on the SE forums.
  13. WTG Mike!! You guys are on a roll. I would like to see what reports you guys provide when you hit the glades again. That is my usual fishing grounds.
  14. I have had the Tournament for about 3 yrs now, and the TT pro for over year. i know you mentioned the speedspool however the TTPro has dual brakes also. I found the MG casts extremely well. I have thrown braid and currently i am throwing 12lb Yozuri off this reel now. The only times i think you will run into trouble will be if you throw really light baits. By trouble, I mean some possible backlashes and distance will be affected. Really light baits for me means trickworms and finesse worms either weightless or with 1/32 weights. Throwing some plastics with a little thickness to them for example 4" stickworms, you will not have a problem. The MG is a great reel, I find mine becoming smoother the more I fish with it. Hope the info helps. Goodluck
  15. Good luck... yeah i always leave my main motor down. Lvg it up allows the back to swing on you way too much.
  16. Nice Jose!! Battling winds on a tin boat is not easy. I would give 27 a try. Launch right before the entrance of the Holey Lands. Its a little ramp tucked in just South of the construction of the new flood gate. Fish the finger canals. The cover is alot more diverse than the Holey lands. We landed several nice fish there last weekend.
  17. Well you can't say you were skunked today...
  18. Welcome to BR. Several members live in that area. Maybe they can help you out. Goodluck.
  19. That jettie sure looks rough. But Jack attacks are fast and furious. Jacks are very tough fighters indeed.
  20. I just have some coffee, eggs and toast in the morning. Half sandwich somewhere between 11:00 and Noon, and nothing until dinner. I really get into fishing when i am on the water to be thinking about food. Since childhood, i don't eat much when I fish.
  21. If an avid is on the table, I would go with that. Great rod. 7 ft MH.
  22. I need to oil mine because I am using it consistently for 7 hrs straight. The constant casting and retrieving shows. Besides if I want my reel operating as good as the last trip a little oil seems to do it some good. This is my frogging outfit. I work this reel pretty hard when I am using it. For other techniques i may agree. But not for this one.
  23. That's a nice find. Pretty shallow too.
