Hypothetically... that rod looks and sounds perfect for those applications. The highest trim level of St.Croix that I own are LTB's. LE's are "rare air" rods for me. If you "hypothetically" get one... enjoy!!

10lb yozuri should be fine. Using kvd conditioner would definitely help. I have the Stradic CI4 set up, but I have the opposite. I use 20lb braid with 12lb yozuri leaders. No issues what so ever for several years now.

The info that has been given so far is spot on. There are several factors at play in this scenario. 65lb braid is over kill in the application being used imho. The hookset could have been a little too forceful. Lastly, the mono could have possibly not been lubed, enough with spit before it was cinched down, causing the weakness right before the knot. Adjust for these factors and your line breakage issue should be corrected.

These blue bird skies can make the fishing a little challenging. Hopefully I can go out for a little bit later this evening again.

It has been very slow lately for me too. Today was a bust. Caught one and it got unbuttoned right before it reached the bank. Other than that nothing. Next week should be interesting. I am heading out to the Glades next Saturday with a mystery guest... Let's see if we can stick some piggies.....

Your going to get mixed input when you put "what is the best ......" on your title thread. Many of us on here have tried many different types braids and have narrowed down our go to braid through experience and time on the water. For many its Sunline, PP, Suffix, the list will go on and on. Only you will be able to determine what the "best" is. Although there are several great brands out there, I choose for the time being Power Pro. It's a braid that I have been using for years and it has never let me down. It lasts forever and I can find it cheaper at Walmart, than having to drive to a BPS or Dick's sporting goods which are both farther away from me.

I have had a shimano stradic CI4 for several years now and its working just like the first day I bought it. I have yet to have it serviced. Just saying.

Welcome to BR and bass fishing. First thing i will recommend you do, is read the articles that BR provides. There a quite a few that i found helpful. Everything you can think of or need help in there is an article or video for. Take it step by step and you will start to get an understanding of our beloved sport. Many people will give you a lot of good advice on here. Take it slow, you try to take on everything and it can be overwhelming. Best of luck!!

Like I mentioned on my PM, send Mike an email and talk to him. He is cool like that, he will listen to you and maybe be able to accomodate or give you suggestions on his current line up that might meet the specs you want. That's the cool thing about custom makes.

That may explain why the bite has been off in my neck of the woods too. Thousands and thousands of tadpoles. The banks are full of blacks clouds of them.

My current frogging rod that I really enjoy is a Dobyns Champion 736C.

Larry listen to Nitro on this one. Like he said, regardless, beautiful fish!! As far as weight? I really can't tell you. In the future when you land another beast, you will have a better reference with the scale.

Pembroke Pines is nice area for bass fishing. As far reading the lake in general, study the coverage and vegetation. Think about bass down here like people. Since we are approaching summer time what would we do? Outside we would be most active at what times of the day? Morning and evening right? What would we be doing during the hottest part of the day when we are outside? Seeking shade and cover. Bass are the same way. During the morning and evening they will be out and about feeding. As the day warms up they will seek the cover of grass and pads, and other types of cover. During the evening and night time ours they are hitting the town and all the local hot spots. Find those spots, and you will find nice fish. Hope that helps. As far as baits, take your pick. Worms, frogs, flukes, brushhogs, spooks, spinnerbaits, jigs, the list is long. You just have to get out there and learn what works and when. Good Luck!!

Nice spots. Listen to what Geo G says. From pics that I did see, you have typical vegetation for S.FL. I see pads and grass. The best advice I can give you, is to familiarize yourself with this site, and several of the local guys who fish the area. Ask alot questions and many of us will jump in to help. Since your a newbie of sorts, what reel(s) do you prefer to throw? Spinner or baitcaster? What rod(s) do you have? Length, power, action? You are going to get hit with a lot of tips and advice, but I would like to know the answers to these questions before suggesting to you what to throw.

I too have LTB's and I recently purchased a Dobyns this past December. I got a Champion 736C. Although I enjoy my LTB's, which are a bit tip heavy. I really enjoy my Dobyns. Balances a whole lot better. You are going to really enjoy your new rod. Congrats!

Very nice pea Larry!! It's not quite the 10lbr you may have wanted but you may have just quite beat your PB. As the heat of S. FL increases you will start seeing alot more peacock activity. What were using to catch that beauty?
