  1. I have the same exact rod, and I really enjoy it. I use it as part of my everyday setup. Enjoy.
  2. There is nothing like gator scare to get the blood moving.... LOL... Speaking of gators, for the first time ever this past Saturday out in the glades we hooked onto 3 gators. As a result we lost one bait and a swimbait hook. They were so camouflaged in the pads and the grass that when our baits landed in their proximity they would lunge out and reach for it. They are explosive powerful animals that's for sure.
  3. Tournament guys share really nice pics but the types of baits they use they keep close to the heart. I had this conversation with a buddy of mine this morning. When it comes down to competition time where big catches = $$ Bait sharing I have noticed is silence..... I get it though. Good luck to whomever his competing next Sunday.
  4. My frogging is going pretty good my friend. So far this year, I am over 250 bass caught on Mr. Froggy alone. This year for me surprisingly is the year of the spinnerbait. I have really gotten into it and have caught several nice bass. Good luck with your season. You have gotten off to a great start.

I agree with this also. Very big baits then go up to 5/0.
  6. If you are going to take up soft body frog fishing braid would be advised. 30lb PP would do just fine for that application. If you are fishing in heavy cover than maybe bump up to 40lb. If you take up hollowbody frog fishing I wouldn't throw anything less than 40lb.
  7. WTG Grizz!! Congrats!!
  8. Never had a problem with EWG. Have been using them for years. I am the opposite, I don't like regular worm hooks.
  9. I don't want to stray to off topic, but this thread made me look at my older reels and I have 3 round reels that I don't use anymore. 2 are Abu's Royal express II and III, and the other one is a Shimano Catala. Do you guys think they will sell or are they collector items?
  10. Nice fish Michael. As far as the weight? Who knows? It's a 6 plus, and it looked like it just finished spawning. I know you recently lost your scale, the length and girth formula for estimates I hear has worked for some on here in the past.
  11. I don't know where you looked but here are the hooks.... http://www.***.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Monster_Hooks/descpage-GEMH.html
  12. I have the exact same setup. I use 20lb braid with a 10-12lb leader.
  13. Funny you ask this question. I used horny toads yesterday, and caught several nice fish. I used a 5/0 Gammy EWG hook for those type of frogs. Imo a weighted hook is just going to make you work harder trying to keep the bait on the surface. Good luck!
  14. I was in the same situation you were in this morning. However, my BIL convinced to go out anyways. I am glad I listened to him. We went out to the alley and had a good time. We boated 50 fish, fished varied from 4lbs - 1lb. Top water bite was crazy.
  15. The Lews MG, imo over the Revo S, hands down. I have both and the MG is my everyday reel. Over time it just outperformed the Revo S. If you save just a tad bit more $$ call Ron from Valley sports and he can you a LEWS TT pro at a very attractive price. That's my second LEWS reel, and this one outshines the MG.
  16. I picked up my Curado I there. Actually, several of my pieces have come from that Bass pro. It also doesn't help the bait monkey that the Mrs, works from walking distance to this store. LOL...
  17. Nice!! A big girl like that on a frog is special indeed. WTG!!
  18. My condolences on your friends passing RW.
  19. Nice fish Dude!! Did your new tat must have paid off for a measurement.
  20. Just like A-Jay said. My minimum on spinners is 20lb also.
  21. That's one creative tat. lol.... practical...
  22. Finally Hootie!! All this nice equipment you have recently purchased, you have something to show for it now.... LOL....
  23. The only reason I am saying MH, is because you mentioned jigs in that line up. If that was not the case, a M will suit you just fine.
  24. There is about a $20 dollar difference between the two. Me personally I would go Premier. I have 2 and they are good everyday rods. Both Triumph and Premier have 5 yr warranties. I say if you have the chance, go see them both place the reel you are going to purchase on the both rods and see which one feels better for you. Good luck!!
  25. That's a nice color right there. Just enough gold to not overpower the bait.
