I just got mine last week after waiting a little while from BPS. It's a very sweeet reel. I am really going to enjoy it.

Braid Issues
So far the advice given is spot on. Common in braid. It's not a brand thing. The line is digging in after working off a snag or a catch. I usually cast out knowing there is going to be an issue with digging in, and I will spool out line by hand and then reel it back in and continue fishing.

Caught Between Dobyns, Powell, & St. Croix
I have never used or held a Powell so I can't comment there. I fish with 3 kinds of St. Croix rods and 1 Dobyns. Premiere, Avid, LTB's on the St. Croix side, and a champion on the Dobyns side. Both company's produce great rods. I have upgraded from the premiere, and I use an Avid several times a week and I have 2 LTB's that I really enjoy. I will agree with some of the comments made about the St. Croix's being tip heavy. Although, I don't see that effecting my fishing at all. The champion is my newest acquisition in the rod dept. So far, I am really enjoying it. I went with a 736C, and this rod is very light, but can put a serious hurting on any fish that I stick with it. One thing I will say however, is that the champion balances a lot better than the St.croix's if that is important factor for you.

Frog Modifications
A leg trim and a color change here and there, and I am good to go.

Alligator Alley Catch Rate
I hate it when that happens. Those situations leave me scratching my head on where the fish have possibly gone. I only stepped out for an hour today and I didn't get a sniff. The rain chased me out.

Too Early For Consistent Snakehead?
I get that Diggy, and with that although snakeheads fight well, they just don't do it for me. Again, that's just me, the rest of you guys have it and have a blast catching them.

Heavy Power Rods
That line right there is the key to a good stick imho...

Send Mike an email with your questions. I did, and he answered me almost right away. That's a good hint of CS quality.

Too Early For Consistent Snakehead?
Deerfield!! If I am not mistaken you live in Miramar. Go off the Sawgrass Expy, and Coral Springs Dr, and fish that big canal on the West side that is the levy that separates the glades from civilization. I would walk South towards Markham park from there. I experienced and saw plenty of snakehead action there. Personally, I would focus on LMB, in your neck of the woods. I don't see the fascination with snakeheads. Yeah, they fight and tear up your tackle, but so do mudfish and I have caught plenty of those in the glades.

Florida Guys Check In Here.
I am 100% with snook on this one. The only issue with braid that I had was early on when first started using it. I was using Spiderwire, and that was a mess. I transitioned to PP and all my issues were gone. I have been using it for years ever since. I recognize the fact that braid has its disadvantages, so I am constantly inspecting it when it comes across rough cover for abrasions or nicks.

I don't know about you, I also found that braid has better bite detection properties over that of mono. What's is your take on that?
-
Florida Guys Check In Here.
Mono does have its benefits, but imho, braid's benefits outweighs those of mono. But listen, if mono is working for you, have at it. That's the beauty of fishing, we all gravitate to what works for us. Good luck next time you go out.

Everglades L29 Report, And Caught The Wrong Species
Thanks Mike. You guys went night fishing? Although the curiosity is there, I will never ask you guys what you are throwing. ... I sent you a PM but your mail box is full.

Sorry about your lure. I have been using PP for years with zero problems. Brand new PP is smooth to the touch, if you were feeling the line rough every few feet, something wasn't right. I just spooled up my new reel with PP yesterday as a matter of fact, fished it today already with 0 problems. Look into the culprit before you discount that braid. It's great and walmart sells it cheap. What lb test are you throwing?
