Just like when we use the phrase match the hatch, I follow the same concept with braid to fluro leaders. I match the diameters. By doing this you will avoid accidental break offs.

I have this reel paired with a St. Croix LTB. All I can say is holy smokes. It feels like both rod and reel were made for each other. I have the 7ft MH, rod.

I fish a lot of braid, and in my neck of the woods I find the bass to be very line shy so a fluro leader definitely helps. The other advantage of a leader is when it comes to break offs. I will rather break off 3 ft of leader material, than try to go head to head with braid. Although the suggestion to bring a small piece of wood and wrap the braid on that, was a good idea.

One of my best days bass fishing was about 2 years ago, I went fishing in the glades and I caught 40+ bass ranging from 3-5lbs all on Hollow body frogs. I had to retire a frog that day. That thing was so beat up, but it did its job.

I fish in canals and parks with mascovi ducks and they are pita. People feed these ducks so when I approach to fish they think I going to feed them. I am surprised I have not hooked one by accident yet. On a side note. I almost caught a cormorant yesterday fishing. I was working my soft plastic in the mid depth range, when I see what I thought was huge fish swim up and almost take my worm. When it swam into focus I realized it was a bird, I reeled in like crazy and avoided a serious problem. LOL...

I didn't expect this much volume of rain this morning. Had to cx my fishing trip. Not the happiest of campers this morning. I will try again on Saturday and again on Wed.

I was thinking about the plastic bag too. The big salt water is an idea. Bret Chapman as an interesting set up but I don't even know where to begin looking for that.

Did some X-mas fishing at my local canal and landed this nice 18" using my buddys MCS go to lure , grande rattlesnake soft plastic. I was fishing 10lb yozuri on 1/16 weight using 2/0 Gami hook. This one puts me at 90.5" I still got time to make top 3. Fingers crossed.

Heading to the Everglades tomorrow to break in the new Lews TP, and Dobyns Champion 736. I am hoping some big girls will come out to play.

I don't think I am explaining myself correctly, but I am sure someone has the answer I am looking for. I received for X-mas a Chatillon scale. I provided a pic to help explain myself. The little hook on the bottom scale that is used to actually weight the fish, I find way too small for my taste. Where can I find a hook or attachment that I can use to upgrade the size of that hook? Thanks in advance.

It pegged me in the SE, and the area that was really red was Florida.

As far as fishing gear goes, I was gifted a Chatillon scale from the Mrs. The rest of the family knows my addiction to bass fishing, so I got several BPS gift cards. No complaints here....

Arv said it best. Bring your reel to the store and see what balances best. BPS has Avids and Carbonlite's both of these rods get my vote.
