Crank Bait Depth
I am not a crank bait fisherman but I do love watching my bass shows and Mr Horton and KVD both suggest several things to make sure your crank bait is performing its best. First you need to know the depth of the water either by a good topo map, using a pole and a cheap flotation device or maybe just wadding out and using a stick, of course best method would be electronics to confirm what you may already know. This is how you know the depth of the water, if the crankbait is not hitting bottom with a DT16 and you know that water is 12 feet then you crankbait is not performing like it should. Find a cement pond it might make this easier. Ways to make crankbaits dive to recommended depth are; Lighter line 10-12# fluorocarbon will get you down deeper. Making sure the crankbait is running true, Glenn May has a video on this and if you do a search on youtube you can see it in action. Hooks, getting away with the biggest hooks that you can. And making sure the bill of the crankbait is clean and sharp so to speak, youtube this as well.

Looking For A New Rod - $100 Range
Prefer a two piece, spinning reel. Needs to be very sensitive I plan to use this for finesse type fishing, light jigs, weightless plastics, drop shot and Texas rig plastics. What would you suggest?

Private Ponds/lakes Cheating?
Its a sport and while I can see both sides I have a simple solution, use lighter tackle to make it more sporting if you feel the need to calm down the naysayers. If you go with a light setup say 4# test you are only increasing the fish odds of getting away thus making it more of a "challenge". Personally I have a few ponds and while they are not managed I always catch fish and I always try new lures here, is this "cheating"? I don't own a boat nor do I own electronics that basically tell me not just the location of the fish, what structure they are on, the water temp, depth GPS to find this location again and the ability to get an idea of what the fish are doing, now is that cheating? To me bank fishing is a challenging enough.

Best Fluoro Knot For 12Lb + ?
While I don't tie this knot often it really is one of the strongest knots for any line type. I did a test and used 10# floro and tied just about every knot I could, this knot always came out on top, it has never broke at the knot for me. I would pull till it broke and did a stress test by yanking hard like setting a hook and this knot never failed when many other knots did. "The Berkley Braid Knot, developed by Berkley, is meant to tie braided line to lures, hooks, or terminal tackle. Even though it was developed for braided line, it is great for monofilament and fluorocarbon too."

I Just Can't Beat A Nightcrawler
Berkley gulp worms, natural color. I guess you use split shot, if so take that concept and try Carolina rig, personally I would also try drop shot. Also i have caught bass while swimmung the worm and dragging the worm. Place bag in a ziplock bag as it leaks..

Are Bass Not Going To Be Active Midday In 100 Degree Weather (Small Pond)?
My PB was many years ago when I was 16 in Florida at 9:30PM using left over peeled shrimp, believe it or not. Also hooked into an Alligator and the largest bluegill I have ever caught as well.. I remember it like it was yesterday, shrimp I thought I don't understand I am going to catch on this, beggars cant be chooser and to my surprise it worked.

Help Summertime Bass, Bank Fisherman Faq
Let’s have some fun, here is the MAP based on this where would you fish and using what, keep in mind that the North West of the map is completely off limits. My profile photo is that one bass I caught at this location, its driving me nuts I cant find the pattern here.

Help Summertime Bass, Bank Fisherman Faq
I have been having very good success this year and allot of this is thanks to this site and Glenn’s youtube videos. My questions; I am still having a hard time with a single lake that is new to me. It’s a 120 Acre public manmade lake, moderate to heavy fishing pressure and lots of small boats. This lake is part of PA’s big bass program and has several submerged manmade structure, I have lake maps and know where most of this structure is. My problem is I don’t know if I am on the fish and they don't like what I am offering and or if the fish are somewhere else. ¼ of the lake is blocked from any fishing and sadly its probably the best spots for big fish. It has a large rock dam and one creek channel that is allowed to be fished, loads of grass and structure. Water is stained to clear with visibility in the 2-3’ range. With that said I managed to catch one bass from this lake in 4 trips, I don’t like this ratio and is now my goal to figure this lake out with your help.. I caught the one fish during March using a spinner bait and haven’t enticed any others. My last outing was July fourth from 7PM-9:30PM, I used a pop-r for about 1:30 min, switched to an white/chartreuse chatter bait for about 45min and ended with a Heddon Torpedo. I saw one fish rise and it was a decent one. I tried this over submerged grass, rock and manmade structure, nothing.. So what would you try next? Any thoughts on a video for summer time fishing from a bank fisherman’s perspective? What baits, techniques, locations, patterns and tips??

Where Are The Boats From Japan??
I read an article recently on this site I believe and it was said that owning a boat in Japan is twice the expense and maybe more than owning a boat in the US, basically the market doesn’t exist in Japan as it doesn’t here in the US and I would assume that companies located in Japan don’t try to compete, supply vs demand. Although nothing runs like a Honda! Its funny people still don’t realize that most “US” vehicles are not made in the US and I would imagine boats would be the same. Of course you have companies like Toyota who built a factory in Texas just for Trucks how American can you get?

New Setup, Shimano Chronarch 200E...
Everyone, Looking at buying a new setup to focus on chatter-baits, spinner-baits and topwater action (Mainly buzz-baits and Pop-Rs) From reading St-Croix website the MBC70MHF Spinnerbait 7' MH Fast, looks to be my best bet, however any other recommendations in the same price range? Going with a Shimano Chronarch 200E Series Casting Reel 6.5:1 and a MBC70MHF Spinnerbait 7' MH Fast, what you think?
