  1. I've read this whole thread and i have to say congratulations (I know it isnt done)but you guys are realy going to enjoy this boat to the fullest. This buld up is right up my alley,I'm from the school of if you want it then build it and I'm sure it'll convince others to rescue another boat from the weeds somewhere. great job, good work and hopefuly good fishing.
  2. depends on how they routed the cable, but yeah imho its not hard to fix especially on smaller boats. Is it a read morse cable?if so they used to have a model number in white letters on the end, just take that number go grab a replacement and use the old one to fish the new one through.
  3. I mostly use them for the panfish like blue gils etc, rarely will i get a bass on one.
  4. I have no clue as to the answer as I have yet to weigh a bass,if I get a nice one I just stretch it out next to my arm with my fingertips extended and hope it's longer then my elbo,if it is i measure it length and girth quickly before tossing it back and use a calculator at home.
  5. man I've got a lot to learn,I'd just keep fishing different stuff till I catch something.................then hone in on why i did.In order to catch more and bigger fish.I guess this is why I have a few bad days befor the good ones.
  6. anyone fish near muskegeon county?
  7. This is the exact issue I am coming across right now, places where I'd get 3-5 nice fish in a hour or so after work just wont produce now,if it wasnt for a few babies or oddball perch/pickrel I'd be getting totally skunked. If you're looking to build confidence I'd start with ponds, you can cover the ground easier to find what baits/techniques work for you,vs flying blind on a big body of water.Oh and also imho I'd personaly spend money on more gear before a fishfinder but thats just me.
  8. I rarely take a tacklebox fishing unless I'm on a boat for the day,99% of my fishing is a hour here or there using what I can stuff in my pockets,if I call to say I'm running late the first thing my wife looks for is my tackle box Sometimes I swear she'd be more forgiving if i had another woman on the side. But with that said i usualy stuff 2 bags of 5" senkos in my left rear pocket,2-3 bags of other misc soft plastics in my right rear pocket(roboworms, rage tail etc), a few gama hooks in my left front pocket and just in case I have my favorite N star spinner and jig hanging from my headliner in the car.I almost always catch fish but I'm embarresed to say I rarely reach past my left rear pocket, let alone grab a bait from the car.
  9. just wanted to post to say hello,My wife is from Bulgaria and we have a place in varna.I'll be heading over shortly and would love to see croatia, but we are having a baby so I doubt it's going to happen. If your looking for anything tackle wise though I'd be more then happy to bring it to BG and figure out a way to get it to you from there.I know how the fishing scene is in BG and cant imagine it to be too much better in croatia allthough it looks to be so.
  10. yeah 3 hours of fishing although I'm lucky if I make it to the water by noon on the weekend(80 hour weeks) The majority of my fishing is afternoon or after work plunking in my family lake or the local pond,I wont complain as I catch fish and my pb was on a last cast after dark on my family property................I just started realing in my senko as fast as possible,as I was leaving.I had given up when a 26 incher slammed it just a few feet from my feet in just inches of water. The way that fish smacked that lure at my feet was addictive .......................hence the reason I am here.As for the fish I had hooked him in the gullet(1st time) and sadly instead of being able to toss it back he ended up on the dinner table(I did throw him back but after going belly up I waded in for him). That night bass fishin went from a ecape to a obsession for me.............and I dont regret it.As for my PB,my wife and i enjoyed our first LMB ever for dinner but honestly I would have enjoyed him more swimming off to get bigger.
  11. I've been fishing #4 on a ul rod most times this season and I have to say it is a blast playing a angry bass.I only lost one that dove for cover to a broken line but believe it or not I caught him later on a different color senko............it was quite a surprise when i went to pull the hook to see the senko and hook I had lost earlier in the fishes mouth. You didnt mention the size and type of rod you plan on using and imo this comes into play,a heavy action rod or one not designed to go down too #4 can and will bite you where as one designed for it will help absorb shock and play the fish. The shock on heavy gear is what will part your line. The majority of my fishing in my life has beef offshore where a properly set drag on the right rod means everthing, there is no horsing a 150# tuna on a #30 rod and real,,same goes for a #300 plus shark on a int 80. If your going to use light line on heavy gear, try this:tie off and spool up a few yards of #4,set your drag with a scale to about #2 or so and then tie off the line to something, leave a little slack and then set the hook like you would on a nice strike...............you'll see what I'm talking about
  12. I have a eagle claw trailmaster and a trailmaster 3 ul that my father gave me and they are my go to rods.I keep them in my car ready to go whenever the chance comes.I have to say for the money they cant be beat and fish as well as rods that cost quite a bit more.I can honestly say it's a rare time when I look for another rod to use and the biggest bonus I think you'll find is you'll be fishing more often as they can be kept handy.
  13. How far south are you willing to go?If in the cape May area I know of a few honey holes along with my property (12 acre lake)that produce numbers but no massive size.Currently in CT for work missing my old spots
  14. I too am new to CT and live just outside of waterbury. While it may not be much help,Hop brooke park near my house has been producing pretty well for me,especially for a place that the locals said didnt have any bass. All I ever see is guys fishing for stocked trout with live bait.I've also heard good things about a place called Bantom lake but have yet had the time to make the trek there and I've had decent luck at a place called skobles (sp?)but that was live bait fishing when I 1st moved here(mainly perch).I dont know if it is me but in my area i have yet to find any true bass fisherman................not sure how to go about it but if you'd like to catch a few down my way I'd be more then happy to show you the spots that work for me.
  15. great post, most days i get to fish it is just for a hour or 2 so senko's it is.Just the other night I had a hit that turned out to be a snag or so I thought, fishing with ul gear and 4lb line it didnt take much to snap the line.Being short on time and not producing with the wally world red/black combo I tied on a old pumkinseed and a owner hook vs the red gama's and bam a nice 3 pounder hit..............care to guess what was in his mouth, yup my red and black senko along with the pumkinseed i reeled him in on. I've had guys with massive tackle boxes get ticked at the fish i've cought on these things,I converted a friend who is from another country where live bait fishing is the norm when I outfished his minows with senko's I've figured out how to fish them top water, with bobbers,on the bottom and wacky rigged to name a few,the combinations are endless. P.S.I just joined this forum to try and get away from fishing just senko's because my tackle box hasnt moved in years
