  1. Local shop got in the new Tatula elite AGS rods, nice but all bright silver including the handle. Still it's an assume feeling rod. The Aluminim steez SV is a work of art

  3. Funny though, the T3 1016 won't take any of the Z or Steez spools. I've tried several and they are all off by a mm or 2
  4. A steez Ha or SHA spool should also fit and they have the R+ Inducter and won't break the bank. I'm not a huge fan of the SV spool but I see its purpose and it certainly does what it's made to do. Just a little to controlled for me but I think that can vary a little from reel to reel. And yes the SS SV. Will take all the 103/105 spools but the SS air will not. So you have a world of choices to try in the SS SV
  5. Sorry guys, let me clarify the question. I have a couple of original Zillions that have been tuned and upgraded with spools etc. and a Megabass IP79. I guess I'm trying to find out if casting performance will be similar to the original.
  6. Anyone have both of these reels. I'm interested in how the TW SV performs compared to the original Zillion. Trying to decide if I want to go new school or find an OG Zillion in nice shape. Weight isn't really an issue
  7. I have 3 and I would put them up against almost any $200 reel today. The stock spool is a great all purpose spool and for $50 you can turn it into a swept handle which makes them look even better. I think the Z line actually split with the 100 becoming the Fuego and Zillion. Actually the Fuego was the US model of the JDM TD X which was a detuned Z. And the 103/105 became the steez.
  8. Spro Aruka shad. All day
  9. The Tatula is a phenomenal rod for its price point. I have 10 of them, switched over from the Shimano crucial line and haven't looked back
  10. With a highly tuned reel I was able to hit 25-30 yards "pitching" and that was measured. I will add that it was with NO accuracy so it kind of defeats the purpose. I've hit 65 yards with a strong wind behind me using a 5/8 rattle trap. 45yards is my max in normal conditions and that's really letting it go
  11. I personally think the MGX is a great reel. You can pick them up in the $250 dollar range and at that price it's a steal. One of the lightest reels made with a great break system. Read the TT reviews. Not really meant to be an all purpose reel but more of an all purpose finesse reel. I have 2 that are pushing 5 years old and haven't had a problem. The reel is perfect for pitching 1/8-3/8 rigs on a ML-M rod but I do use mine for heavier stuff up to 5/8. I highly recommend this reel if you can get it at a good price
  12. Just looked through the 2016 BPS catalog and noticed no Daiwa rods or reels. My local BPS only has a couple Daiwa reels in the case and sold all their Daiwa rods off in the clearance bin. Is BPS no longer selling Daiwa ????
  13. Just got 2 Tatula rods at the local BPS. All the Tatulas are on clearance for $99-$109, sitting in a big bin with a bunch of BPS rods. I got the 7'4" frog rod for $99 and the 7'1" xf for $109 great price's for great rods and they had dozens
  14. save yourself a couple bucks and get the Tatula frog rod, same action, same styling. as a dedicated Daiwa guy and someone who loves to spend money i'll tell you this rod is a friggin steal for the money. The rod has a ton of backbone but still casts well and is very versatile. I use it for a heavy jig rod and throwing swimbaits up to 2oz's. I took down a 5-3/4 out of real heavy cover 3 weeks ago and it took a total of about 10 seconds. put a reel with a lot of drag and 80 pound braid and your all set. I'm 6'1" and have no prob pitching with it but it's all in your style. After I bought this rod I liked it so much I grabbed 5 more Tatulas, some are average but a couple of others are great also, read the Tackle Tour review, they basically say the Tatula is an equal to the Zillion. Have to admit, I still want a Zillion or two in the arsenal.
  15. I've got the flipping stick as well and I like that rod a lot but I can tell you the frog rod has a lot more power but still casts great down to 3/8oz
  16. the Daiwa Tatula 7'4" frog rod is a great rod. Light, powerful and can be used for other things. I've taken 4 bass this year between 4-6 pounds out of extra heavy cover without a problem and its a great caster for a heavy action rod
  17. I have a couple of MGX's that I upgraded bearings and cleaned and re-lubed with a high quality oil. the MGX is a "fast" reel out of the box and changing bearings and lube made it a lot faster. I had issues with how fast the spool started up at first, I found that if the lure lost momentum during the cast the spool wouldn't slow down and cause a backlash in the middle of the cast. if I casted really hard with a heavier lure it wasn't a problem but a lighter cast where the lure lost momentum would backlash. dialing up the cast control cured that. im sure the MGXtreme is even faster. if your getting the backlashes in the beginning or middle of the casts it is a spool tension issue. truly I believe the Xtreme is built for pitching and not so much overhand casting
  18. A good way to compare is to find a JDM dealer that sells a lot of Revo spools, they will tell you what USDM reel they also fit.
  19. LTZ I think is a further upgraded version of our MGX and the Deez 6 is a mystery to me
  20. The JDM Revo's are pretty much "tweaked" versions of the USDM reels. The LTX is our MGX with a shallower spool and mag breaks so it is definitely a finesse, light lure reel. The Alt I believe is our STX with a better break system. I think the Elite is our Premier that again has been tweaked. I'm no expert and they can be really confusing with the different break systems and spools. I love my MGX's so I'm betting the LTX would be a great finesse reel.
  21. The break system in the MGX is miles ahead of the SX. I could never control the SX I had and got rid of it. The MGX is designed for fishing lighter stuff but is a very good all purpose reel.
  22. Hedgehogs stuff on eBay is free postage so the prices are very similar. Lure shop doesn't have the Tatula HLC spool yet. Not that I want it
  23. Just saw that Hedgehog studio has a Tatula HLC spool for sale on EBay. The spool costs more than the reel which I find sort of interesting. They also have a big selection of SV spools at really good prices
