  1. A 10 to 12 foot jon boat will be much less stable and probably less load capacity unless you can find a wide bottom one. As an example my 8 ft Basshunter has a capacity of 475lbs. A 10 ft Tracker shows a capacity of 320lbs and their 12ft just 335lbs.
  2. Many moons ago I use to carry a 14ft in a little Ford Courier! (very small truck) Secure in bed and tie a red flag to the overhanging bow. As above poster has said, find a trailer and life will be easier. Storage lot not possible??
  3. Minor Modification using an extra set of rod straps I had. Secure the rods better and get the paddle and seat umbrella up out of the floor!!
  4. Try more like 12 hours today Fished my local TWRA lake where I always catch fish (nice ones) and nada. Left and came back later because I haven't been skunked since May 2011. Same result A day on the water is still better than a day sitting home doing nothing. I was in my new to me boat however and wanted to christen it with some fresh slime. Hope this isn't a bad sign!!!!!
  5. There are also lots of state parks in the Nashville area that I am sure offer fishing opportuniies. http://tn.gov/environment/parks/
  6. I can't much tell you specific places since I don't live in Nashville, but you are surrounded by great fishing waters. Cumberland River, Old Hickory, J Percy Priest, 60 miles from Tn River-Kentucky Lake and on and on. Find a spot on a bank and get at it!! Go to the TWRA website and find the nearest TWRA lake. They all have fishing peers and lots of areas to bank fish and as for as I can tell very good bass fishing in most all of them!!! http://www.eregulati...-fishing-lakes/ The majority of these lakes have boats for rent also.
  7. The Tracker only has 16in sides so the 36in Endura is more than long enough. The new foot control motor I have has a 45in shaft. Most of the lakes I fish such as Lake Graham are nothing but trees and stumps so running a motor deep is NOT a good idea on them. I rarely take this boat out on rougher waters (have another boat for that) so having the motor come out on large waves and such is not an issue.
  8. I have done many many different types of resto projects from homes to cars, motorcyles, aluminum boats, etc. etc. After looking at this post this is one project I never ever want to undertake. Props to you for being brave and energetic enough to tackle this one!!
  9. Yes the Endura is currently bow mounted. It actually works great on my little Bass Hunter and I can rarely use the #5 setting on that boat because it causes waves to crash over the bow. It will be relegated strickly to this little boat once I ever get around to mounting the new foot control motor on my 1542 Tracker. The big problem we have had this year that I have never experienced in my 51 years of living in west Tn is the wind has blow 15-25 nearly everyday since at least last Sept. Usually after April or so it lays down over the summer but not this year. I have always hated spring fishing just because of all the wind and it is magnified by these Aluminum boats for sure. My Stratos 201 would barely move in 15 mph winds where as 5mph blows the tracker like crazy. In my old age with a bad back I just prefer dealing with light weight Aluminum boats now over the heavy glass boats.
  10. Yep they fight good!! Caught this one somehow on a plastic worm????????? My boat is 42 inch bottom and it stretched pretty much from one side to the other. Over 40lbs. As high as my scale goes! Nearly broke the net trying to lift it into the boat.
  11. My suggestion is put down a plywood floor and run two pieces of metal as braces from the floor to the transom if it has a metal covered transom like my basshunter. Screwed into each plywood and transom of course. Should help a little at least.
  12. In my case this is replacing a 40lb Endura which is more than plenty motor on my 1542 Tracker. It will pull my boat nearly 4 mph on #5 but the other speeds are not very useful in even the slightest breeze. I was really hoping the Edge speeds would be more equally spaced. Sounds like it has the same speed controller. I really like Minn Kotas and I don't know when the 5 speed settings got changed on these motors. Guess I should have gone variable and will on my next one if I outlive these.
  13. I am not sure if either of these are Mercs latest 150 but they have a new one for this year that is much lighter and smaller profile than the previous 4 strokes.
  14. The new set up which is how it is supposed to be to begin with. 2 tempress seats (comfy)!!!
  15. I love to occasionally keep some 12-14 in bass when I can catch them. Our local lake has a 14-18 inch slot and most fish are in the slot or over now. In my opinion the small bass are one of the best eating fish there is. I have a hard time keeping nice size bass, but I don't think the older larger fish are all that good taste wise anyhow.
  16. Argh that is one of the things I was afraid of. That Is what I hate about the Endure as the first 4 speeds are useless and then 5 is like someone hit the nitruos button. The reverse on the endura might as well not even be there as the prop has no reverse bite.
  17. What is your max HP rating. My Baby Basshunter has a 2 hp max and Honda seems to be the only one making them. Everyone else is 2 1/2. This site has most all brands at just about unbeatable prices and several are shipped free to your door. http://www.boats.net...onda/parts.html I have been looking myself but so far my Wallyworld group 29 and 40lb minn kota last all day and then some. Years ago I had a little 3hp Gamefisher air cooled and centrifugal clutch. Weighed next to nothing and would be great on these little boats.
  18. I purchased the Edge 45 a couple of months ago to eventually mount on my 15ft jon boat if I ever get the modifying process started. I have owned many Minn Kotas over the last thirty years and have been completely satisfied until my latest Endura 40 that is currently on the boat. I still have my first which is a little 10lb thust that while pretty usless still works great today. I got a very good price on the Edge thru Amazon. Motor is still in the unopened box. Just wondering if those that have them are happy or if these motors leave alot to be desired. Seams every boat I ever owned had a Johnson or Evinrude foot control motor and I couldn't kill them.
  19. It really really helps to fish with a few people that know how to catch them at Pickwick. Whole lotta hiding places on that big water. Ledge fishing seems to be the ticket there so often but is a total mystery to me. I beat the banks LOL
  20. A small 1000w generator and a battery charger are about your only option unless you can bring an extra set of batteries. If you are running 3 full days that is probably pushing it. Partial days a Walmart group 29 will do fine.
  21. The way that boat is strapped at the bow there is nothing to prevent the boat from bouncing on the trailer. With that roller sitting under the boat I think you run a very good risk of cracking the hull. You need to change that winch setup so that the strap puts downward pressure and the bumper needs to be just above the eye. Strap should run thru the bumper bracket. I had an old flatbottom boat crack like that. It had a short piece of 2X4 about where your small roller bunk is. Like others have stated longer bunks and loose that roller.
  22. LOL I guess fish have to sleep sometime. I have never fished there between 3 A.M and sunrise. Usually from before dark to 3 am. I love being out there however. It has been several years since I have fished that lake but with my new bigger boat I plan to start back almost immediately as soon as I get a few minor bugs worked out and know this boat is going to be dependable.
  23. Very first mod is to replace the War Eagle bench seat installed by P.O. My dog loves it but my mistake back was killing me after an hour of riding around on my first shake down run. Two new high back Tempress seats are on the way. Really don't think I will have to do any major mods. Just upgrade electronics and replace some broken trailer lights. It is really nice buying a used boat from an owner that is completely honest and has taken good care of it to begin with!!
  24. Pickwick Lake (Yellow Creek) basically at the beginning ot the TennTomBigby Waterway.
