Rack And Pinion Or Push/pull Trolling Motor?
Time for a new trolling motor. First I was gonna get the terrova with I pilot. But after thinking it through I talked myself out of it. I am concerned about the durability of the plastic design of the base and the pedal and electronics. Looking like I'm gonna go with the motorguide again. My question is should I stick with the rack and pinion like my old one or move up to the the push pull type? Does anyone know why one would be better than the other? (Rack and pinion vs push/pull) Gracias Chris

2Nd Transducer Cause Issues?
I currently have a humminbird 597ci HD DI at the console with the transducer mounted to the bottom of the transom. I am thinking about adding another 597 ci HD DI on the bow with a transducer mounted to the trolling motor. My question or concern is whether or not the transducers will interfer with each other? Boat is a 2001 Procraft 185 pro 18.5' length. I know that it will only be an issue while the trolling motor is deployed but I would like to use both 597's while trolling. Thanks Chris

Forgive me for asking this, but, do the wives fish with you or do they go off and do 'wife' things? Not trying to be disrespective of wives...I know ladies fish too........just trying to get an idea of how things work on these trips. With some groups the men and women seperate and do thier own thing and others they do things together. thanks Chips

New Local Fishing Club Starting Up Now
We are starting a new local recreational fishing club in the NE Oklahoma area. Initial goals: weekly/monthly meetings (to get aquainted, socialize) share fishing knowledge make new fishing friends/buddies to create a local network of fisherman This will not be restricted to NE OK by policy and anyone is welcome to join. You would miss out on the meetings and fishing with local friends unless you are willing to travel. Started a new forum to embrace and hopefully foster the local fishing club concept. It is new and not alot of members or posts yet. please come over and visit.......and join if you would like to help us get this club/forum off the ground. http://OKFishTales Thanks Chips

Anyone Interested In Local Ok Recreational Fishing Club?
I was wondering if anyone might be interested in creating an Oklahoma recreational fishing club/group? Something more along the lines of a local recreational type club vs a dedicated tournament club. A club where we could meet once a week or month and shoot the bull, have a soda or beer and talk fishing. Could be open to boat owners and non-boat owners. Nothing terribly formal............just a group of guys and or gals enjoying talking about fishing and what not. Just a pre-winter thought........anyone interested? If you don't want to post shoot me an email I put this here instead of the club forum because I was thinking it would be a local thing, ChipsxjATgmailDOTcom OR OKFishTales.com

Does This Need Grease?
My starter will at times not engage the fly wheel. sometimes it takes 4 or 5 tries to get the starter to engage the flywheel and turn the motor over. The starter always spins.....but does not always engage the flywheel. I hear the whirrr of the starter motor but the engine does not turn over. I have read that there needs to be grease on the (bendix) shaft so the starter gear can slide smoothly in and out of the flywheel. Can anyone tell me if this is the shaft that is suppose to have grease? (note the absence of grease) Thanks for any help you can provide. Chips

Shoot Thru Hull Transducer-Hummingbird
Forgive me for highjacking the thread.......but I am looking for some guidance on placement of the transducer for my humminbird 597ci hd di combo. The directions mention I might be able to mount it 'on' the step. I taped it into the location that I think is correct. Can you confirm or deny that I have placed it correctly? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. thanks Chip Removed in the pic below
