Powell Max
Hooligan - Very nice reply and it makes perfect sense. I was just wondering if anyone had issues similar. Thanks guys for all the input. I'm gonna give it one more chance and see how well we bond. If not I'll stick with what I like and sell it off. As far as handling and feel I really like the rod but as said it might not be for me.

Powell Max
Sorry guys not trying to start anything. I'm using Seagar Ab line in 15lb test and yes I checked and changed jigs a couple times and still had issues. I have used this same set up with everything from GLX 843 to GL3 844 and never had the issue. It very well could be me but I have a hard time beliving that when the problem seems to come and go with the rod at this point. I know it won't come out again until I'm just fishing. In my opinion it does seem to be a lighter action MH than Heavy. If the problem persists keep an eye out in the garage sale section.LOL

woops - line wasn't breaking. The jigs just came out it was almost like the 5lber came up seen the boat and spit out the jig. I set the hook hard and thought maybe I was ripping a hole in their lip and it was falling out but when this one came out the line was tight so I think it should have been ok. Switched out to similar Loomis and no further issues. The action on the GL3 lommis seems heavier.

Powell Max
Anyone have any ideas or similar experience. I purchased a new Powell Max rod 7' heavy and am losing fish. I am using the new rod for fishing deeper jigs 5 to 20 feet deep. I fished 2 tournaments this weekend and lost fish on this rod and only this rod. 5 the 1st day before I stowed it and 1 5+ pounder the 2nd day before putting it away. I like the sensitiveity and the way it handles but can't afford to lose fish. Do these rods have a slower action it's suppose to be extra fast. ANY IDEAS

Shelbyville Lake Illinois
Nibbles, Thanks you pretty much hit my plan right on the nose. I've never been on the lake so I was headed in shallow with a jig and flippin the bushes. I fished a couple years ago on KY lake and it did the same thing to me. Flooding and dirty water, hard for us Michigan people we are used to clean and clear water. Add any mud and we go to ____ pretty quick. If you happen to check this again did it clear up any down south by the dam? The lake temp really suprises me. We have a better surface temp here than that. we were close to 60 down on the indiana border over the weekend. Well thanks again and I will give you an update after the weekend.

Shelbyville Lake Illinois
I'm from Michigan and I'm headed down to Illinois to fish a tournament on Shelbyville this coming weekend. I'm looking for any helpful information from someone who has any clue on this lake. I'm figuring the water is high and pretty cool so probably a prespawn tournament but this is only a guess. I'm going on Thursday so I probably should have posted earlier. Thanks

My Bluegill Jig
I wanted everyone's opinions on a new jig. I'm going for the bluegill colors on a jig head that I can swim, flip, or use around grass. I just started hand tying my own jigs this winter and this is as close to a gill as I've come so far. Looks nothing like Cadman's but I was looking for general colors and simple to reproduce. His looks awesome but I'm not a painter.

New Combo for skipping
Gentlemen, I need some help on 2 items. I'm looking to purchase a new Curado 200E7 and was wondering if there were any changes between last year and this year. I found a pretty good deal on a new 2010 model but if there were any significant upgrades I will wait until the new ones arrive. I am also looking for opinions on a new skipping rod. I mostly skip either frogs or ¼ to 3/8 oz jigs on a 7' heavy action casting rod Pfluger Trion and 65# Stren super braid. I like the back bone and power of the heavy action to get the fish out of the cover quickly. I do pretty good but have been looking at maybe going to a 6'6 to try and improve control or accuracy. I was also concerned with the stiff tip and wondering if subtle tip would help. I was think of a MBR784 GLX or NRX but I just can't justify the price and then not like it. Any helpful information on rod brand ideas and actions would be appreciated.

New Cranks and topwater
Quit posting, those are all great looking and you know I'm weak and will want more. Awesome work.
-
More cranks
I like them all so I can't wait to see them up close. Great work.
-
Some new cranks
Oh yea can't wait to see more... Lavender shad is sweet.

Another Clear Coat Question
I can vouch for BigM's clear coat. It is awesome I have 1 that I have been using a couple weeks now and I can't find any scratch marks from the hooks. I have brand name baits that don't last through a day of hard fishing. So whatever he says listen.

Some new cranks
Just received the bottom 2 and they are better in person than in the picture.
-
Some new cranks
Oh no no no I think the bottom 2 are mine and I can't wait to get them in the water. All of those are great but I sure hope those 2 are really mine because they look better than great.

Mini Contest
How about the shallow crankbait in your profile picture. Which looks awesome.

Hand pooring plastics
I'm using lurecraft colors.

Hand pooring plastics
I have just started hand pouring and would like to reproduce a motor oil color similar to Zooms. Does anyone have any ideas or recipes? I love this color but everything I have is different.

Deep diving crankbaits
D20 are as close as I can find to a true 20ft crank. I use 10lb line and can work the well until water temp drops below 50 degrees. I have excellent luck in clear water on both the white and lav shad. The are pricey but I have won multiple tournaments in the fall and they pay for themselves. I start with the d12 and work higher as the water thickens...

Want input on Senko colors
If you have any clear water give the Baby bass wacky style a try it is great. The other hot color here is watermelon purple flake. I bought around 20 bags of each erlier this spring.. Both hot for us here on clear lakes of Michigan....

Humminbird 997 / 1197
OK, I will mount the transducer in a good location and only use it at slower speeds. I'm thinking about a RAM mount on the side of the console I already have a 787 in the dash and a 767 up front and wouldn't have a clue how to remove one and fill the holes properly. I know I can't afford a 797 also. I only bank beat when he fish are there and fish deep water when I know it. I would like to explore some of the lakes around here. I'm laning toward the 997 the 1197 is to big I would hit it with something I'm sure. Has anyone used the Interlink and is it all it's cracked up to be?

Humminbird 997 / 1197
I am thinking of buying one of the new side finder units. They seem awesome from the pictures and sites I have reviewed. I would like someones opinion that has actually used one. Are they easy to use or do you need a masters degree in computer science to work them? I know everyones different but give me some help gents. IF anyone has one for sale let me know I might be interested in a good deal.

Megastrike - Cavitron - Evolution ????
All are awesome. The MegaStrike is easy clean and stays on a bait like nothing else. I use it almost every cast. Cavitron is another great bait and I agree it has a sound like no other I've used. Evolution jigs work great in situations where a football head would be the jig of choice. I have tried them in a swimming pool as well as the driveway and they roll up as shown in the video. I'm still not sure on the weedy area and how that will be but should know soon.

Kentucky Lake Fall Tournament
I will be fishing Oct 4 and 5 on Kentucky lake and could use all the help I can get. I have had great luck in the fall on Michigan lakes but I have a big conern about this big body of water, where to start, and how to fish it effectively. I rarely fish tournaments in this area and would be very little competition for any local anglers. I need help and will spend the week prior to my tournament practicing. Humbly yours....

Lucky Craft
BassBuckandDuck.com - They have a great selection and shipping is free over $75. I do recommend calling and checking stock as you place the order I hate backorders but they normally have what I'm looking for in stock.
