Want input on Senko colors

Featured Replies

I'm about to purchase several packs of Senko's, getting low and would like some input as to the "hot colors". I use the 5" Senko's in the basic colors.

I have Black/Blue Flake, Green Pumpkin/Blake Flake and Watermelon Black/Red Flake.

What colors are good for wacky rigging? Also, any other recommendations for hot colors?

THanks!!

Be sure to check out the Gary Yamamoto web site for all of the availabe colors and the special deals on the stock they want to sell to get rid of it.

Now, for colors.

A fun color is yellow, known as Lemon (No Flake) # 9-10-192, especially for stained or dirty water or just to have a different presentation.

I also have pink but have not thrown it.

I like to throw Watermealon and Pumpkin Seed the most.  Add black flake to them and you are ready to roll.

Some guys will throw Junebug or one with purple in it.

Sometimes I put some JJ's Magic chartreuse on the Senko's tips to give it some color and make it easier to see.

I have a lot of colors but since Senkos are so heavy I usually take a few packs with me and not my entire supply.  I don't want to sink the boat.  ;D

You know your waters and their clarity so purchase the same colors you do as in finesse worms and you should be OK.

Have fun.

I don't think you "need" any other colors, but I don't think the color makes much difference anyhow!  Pick colors you like, I'm sure they will work as well as any someone might suggest.

So with that...My recommendation is "dark", that's my favorite color!

X 2. I think your'e set. I fish with Junebug, Watermelons, and Green Pumkpins. That covers just about all water conditions for me.

Sometimes with a bit of a chartreuse tip.

Every bass that I've caught on Senkos were on the Watermelon w/black/red flakes and Green Pumpkin. I've tried Junebug and several of the other colors but the bass here in So CA just seem to prefer the darker greenish worms with some red/black flake in them. Just my observations. IF and when any other colors start producing, I'll post on that but its hard to stop using the Watermelon when it produces so well.

Just a note, my local Gander Mtn was out of the Black w/blue flake which I use alot and I tried the smoke with flakes and it works well too. Although it looks more purple than "smoke".

I fish pumpkin/black flake exclusively.

If you have any clear water give the Baby bass wacky style a try it is great. The other hot color here is watermelon purple flake. I bought around 20 bags of each erlier this spring.. Both hot for us here on clear lakes of Michigan....

I usually use some variation of dark green, pumpkinseed, black, or junebug.

The only time I change colors is when the sun goes down. When it starts to get dark (or at nighttime) I'll use junebug because the fish can see it better. If the water has a brownish tint I'll use pumpkinseed or brown, and if the water is greenish I'll choose a similar color. Or really anything. I agree with RW, although I'm not sure that a pink senko would work as well as watermelon. It could  ::D

Thanks for all the replies, I have an idea of the colors I'm going to add to my collection.

I was thinking that a color like "Blue Pearl Silver Flake" would do well wacky rigged because it will imitate a wounded shad.

I have most luck with a watermelon, or a pumpkin variation.
