  1. That's rough. I was recounting a pair of $20 glasses that went overboard the other day and that hurt.
  2. Whatever floats your boat. I just don't think we will be visiting the same bar.
  3. Retiredbosn, Quite a long read there and hopefully I get the point. Don't believe the hype?
  4. If you do some searching you will find that at one point the 783mbr imx was the bass rod all other bass rods were judged against. This piqued my interest in the rod and I ended up finding one at a great price. I can honesty say I can see why people say that. It may do some things great, some things well and some things so so but it can do it all. I use mine now for spinnerbaits and larger top waters. I have used it in the past for unweighted flukes and senkos but now prefer spinning tackle for those techniques. Don't throw jigs or t rigs much but with a decent reel you should have 0 problems as others have already said. I like to fish lighter powered rods but this is one that I will be hanging onto.
  5. Thanks a bunch team9nine. That's a great idea will definitely give it a shot.
  6. I caught my first river fish this year on one. The current was strong and there was about an inch of visabilty. If you look you can see the mushroom head right at his upper jaw. It was tipped with a piece of black senko. I guess the conditions weren't conducive to this finesse technique but the more I fish for these guys the more I'm convinced we think they can't see as well as they really can That is probably a thread for another day. I have had some other success with white, black and green senkos as well. I fish it like I fish any other weighted bait. I cast it out upstream let the current take it and give it a jiggle here or there. Like I said I have had some success with this rig but I don't know if it will remain in my arsenal. Maybe you guys could help me? The problem I have is every time I hit a little snag the worm rides up on the jig. It will probably still work but drives me crazy. I am looking for a solution to this that doesn't involve superglue.
  7. I wouldn't be suprised if they were very similar.
  8. I really like the look of that is that the albaone?
  9. So number 1 you don't trust the spiderwire invisabraid to catch fish. Did you catch any fish with it? How long did you test each braid? And where's the power pro?
  10. Same here 10,20 and 40. White or yellow. Prefer yellow.
  11. You could try a product called tommy tape also know as self fusing tape. They sell it at walmart. It bonds to itself. I use it to attach my reels to my Tennessee grips but it could work for your purpose.
  12. Shoot at that price the rest of the rod builders might as well give up and ask if you want fries with that.
  13. I usually change my line out once every 2-3 years. Mono or braid is what I use or a combination of both. I usually use my line 5-7 days a week from early April to early November.
  14. Thanks guys appreciate the advice.
  15. Sorry guys I meant 2 1/2 feet.
  16. It's about 2 1/2 up the blank. I can get the tip of my finger nail in it. Supplier said they can refund and send it back and buy another at full retail. St Croix hasn't seen the pics but said it's my choice. I dunno at this point.
  17. Got a blank in the mail the other day SC5 66MLF. Love it but upon inspection noticed there are some scratches on the blank. Pictures below. I'm at a loss here as to what to do. Built it? Send it in for warranty? Is it compromised? Asthetics aren't important to me. I can live with it if it won't affect performance.
  18. Lol I'm liking a lot of what your saying tonight Scott. I'm not in business of selling rods but this was my thought exactly.
  19. If I'm fishing smallies in a river. Which I do 99.9% of the time. I always have two baits ready to go. A fluke and a tube. Pounds and pounds of plastics and hundreds in hard baits still can't beat the fluke or tube for me.
  20. Saw this in the news today. Pretty cool. Why did I buy that new reel again lol.
  21. Scott, I would be very interested in hearing your impressions are the reel. The previous gen model was on my short list for a long time but couldn't justify the purchase and I missed when they cleared they out on JLS. The new model looks great.
  22. Keep trying my friend. Caught yesterday. It was in the 30's overnight less than a week ago.
  23. Who cares. If you can get out of bed and do something, enjoy...
