  1. I had EcoPro Tungsten hit me in the leg and left me a heck of a cool bruise. Stung like crazy.
  2. Boat docks Weeds Stumps Rocks
  3. When I find this cover, I usually throw Live Target frog. Cast it out, let it sit on the cover. The way I think, when the frog is on the cover, the bass will hear the thump on top of their heads. After its on the cover, reel it very slow to the little water hole, twitch it lightly. Reel it slowly to the water then twitch twitch then hopefully youll get a bass following the frog. Smack! Works for me.
  4. Rayjus. Very nice people to talk.
  5. Just a few over 8 pounders.
  6. Brandon Palaniuk, Dean Rojas, Jason Christe
  7. When I get to muddy water. I usually throw Strike King KVD 1.5 or 2.5 Chartreuse Black or Bluegill. If the cranks doesn't get any bites. I'll throw Havoc Pitboss in Blue and Black or Zoom Brush Hog in Blue and Black.
  8. I like both. I like fishing in the river cause each time it floods, It changes the field such as new tress, new laydowns, everything that it was NOT there before.
  9. I remember fishing on a stump field 8-10 ft down on at Lake of the Ozarks. I randomly put a Missile D-Bomb in California Love color with 3-8 oz EcoPro Tungsten bullet weight. Cast out, let it fall and let line out. Twitch couple times, let fall again then SMACK. Got couple 3's and 4 pounders by doing this. Then bite died. Then used football jig in Green pumpkin with orange flecks with Rage Tail, then do the same technique then SMACK. 3 lbers. Perhaps try do this. It also works in grass amazingly.
  10. This makes me feel so young! I mean my grandpa got me into bass fishing. I remembered seeing his old bassmaster magazines nearby his toilet . They were pretty neat seeing them.
  11. Thank you for serving. I would of joined in Marines and be a infantry but I cant join because Im deaf with cochlear implant. I have couple of cousins who are in the Marines on my dads side of family.
  12. I learned this from a friend. Somedays, I'll throw a Alabama Rig for the heck of it. I have Yum Money Minnow Umbrella Rig. Law in Iowa, you can ONLY have 2 hooks in water but I bought one license for extra one hook. So, I snip 2 sharp hooks and make them shorter and put on the swimbait. It's funny because the fish will bite the wrong hook. Most of the time, they will bite on the actual hook. There's 3 actual hooks on the rig. No picture.
  13. I wear Nike running shoes with heel support. It has helped me 8 hours of practice days and tournament days. Cant complain with it. Or I'll wear Reef Fanning thong sandal. Cool thing about the Reefs, it has air cushion on the heel. That helps!
  14. I personally like Oakleys. I get them all polarized. I've worn Oakleys my whole life. My friend has Costas and tried them on. I just didn't like the fit on me. I have Oakley Holbrook, Big Taco, Oil Rigs. Had others but sold them.
  15. I like using a jig head or a scrounger with Yum Money Minnow. Money minnows can be bit pricey. They do catch bass. Good luck. Tight lines, Dillon
  16. I personally like Booyah spinnerbait. I never had problem with Booyah.
  17. Today, I went out fishing at the slough thats connected the Mississippi River. Its considered backwater. I was in this somewhat a cove along alots of cover and grass. I was using a Potomac and Electric Purple jig that I made. My confidence jig. I was standing on the bank, Pitched to a tree thats in the water. I let the jig fall to the bottom and twitched twice. Seen my line, got tight, swan to the left. Hookset it hard, was using my Denali flipping stick. Its loaded with grass. I wanted a rod to hold the fish and grass along. I started reeling fast, the fish tail was slapping the water like a maniac. It appears to be a dogfish aka bowfin. I get mad when I catch them. I weighed the fish, it was whooping 5.5 lber. They get huge here.
  18. SPRO Bronze Eye Frog Missile Baits D-Bomb in California Delta color.Texas Rig with 3/8 EcoPro Tungsten bullet weight. Jig with Rage Craw -------------------------------- Why Spro Frog? I love fishing frogs and walk it to towards the lily pads then twitch it onto the water surface then BAM. Why Missile Baits D-Bomb? I love using D-Bombs in general. They are my top baits in my gear bag. Seems the fish here cant resist the bombs. Flip or Pitch in the grass. Twitch it, let it fall. Repeat. Why Jig with rage craw? Flip or Pitch the jig. Imitates craw. Twitch it, Reel, fall, Twitch it. Repeat. Rage craw is amazing. Durable plastic.
  19. I drive a 2007 Dodge Ram 5.7L Hemi Big Horn Edition. I have no problem towing the boat. Thing is I drove a boat to state tournament filled the dodge tank twice up and twice back home. I mean, trucks a truck. I get 11 to 13 mpg city. about 18 to 20 on highway. 10 mpg with boat.
  20. For fluke, when I feel the fish on the fluke, I hook sweep it like crankbait. For jig, since the jig is gonna be on the bottom and the hook is stickin up, Hookset it up so the hook can penetrate. Its all about seeing the line go right or left then Hook it.
  21. Is this Marquette and Guttenberg area? If so, I was just there last weekend for a tournament. Good area.
  22. I dont use sunscreen, I get tan very easy. Comes from the family. If its very buggy out, I'll use Absorbine Jr first before using my reels or lures.
  23. I started bass fishing just for fun when I was youngin like at age 6 or 7 while my grandpa took me out on the lake ( Lake of the Ozarks ) to be exact. Got numerous of bass. Got somewhat serious in bass fishing at age 16. Wanted to catch a personal record for myself it was 5.5 with a jig. Then got even more serious at age 18, learning all kinds of thing and such. Now Im 23, This was last year. I went out of the river fishing. Went out on backwater, where had a lots of lay downs and plenty of structures. I picked up my Duckett rod flipping stick. ( Before I was prostaffed by Denali ) Anyways, I picked up my Duckett Flippin stick rod with 3/8 ounce Eco Pro Tungsten in junebug color with Missile Baits D-Bomb Sprayed grass. I flipped in this laydown. got 4 pounder. Good fish for here. Kept flipping the same bait, 3's and 4's. I kept looking at the side imaging on my friends boat. I see this amazing timber laydown with long log laying on the bottom. so I'm thinking theres got to be a bass laying there. So, I flipped the D-bomb, let it fall, let some slack. So its at the bottom, 2 twitches. KA BOOM, Hook set so hard on that mother. Fought so hard. Got the 8.2 bass. I was so faithful. Thanked to God. Never give up!
  24. Luke Bryan. Country singer.
  25. Hello Bass Resource, I recently got back from Lake Okoboji, Iowa up north. Its about 10 miles away from Minnesota border. I have to say this place is a beautiful fishery in Iowa. I was there since May 7th from May 11th. I practiced May 7th locating fish. It was somewhat rough one Day one practice. I finally found some fish under the docks on East Okoboji on the Upper Gar right by the canal. Using Bluegill alike swim jig. Rolling into the weeds but non keepers. Day 2 practice, one keeper, on West side Okoboji in clear water. You can see 10 to 20 ft down. I've never NEVER fished in this kind of water. It was very rough for me. Day 3 - Official practice for Iowa Bass Nation. No fish at all. I go back to the cabin and thinking what stuff I should use and have confidence in. Day One Tournament- I was in 1st flight boat number 13. Took off at 6:10 No fish from 6:30 to about 1:00. I see the clock it says 1:15, Im like No fish in the live well or no bag. so I sit down for several minutes thinking over. My mind clicked, Hauling over to East side of the lake since Im a river rat and has the color of the water. I go to the spot, I look at my cellular phone and time says 1:35. I took a deep breath and tied on swim jig in Electric Purple with Green Chrome flakes on it. Skipped it under docks nothing for good 10 mins. Then, I go over to other spot that is full of docks, skipped it, let it sink for good minute, twitched it, let it swim very slowly through the healthy grass or weeds. I see my line going to the right, so I start thinking HOOK SET it. So I hooked the fish, Got into excitement, felt very good fish, fought hard. I tried to reel into the boat,Pick it up to the boat all the sudden! LINE SNAP! It was a keeper. Lost the fish. So Day One was no good. Very rough day. But hey first tournament ever. Weighed no fish. I felt good cause a lot of people didn't get no fish. Leading weigh was 11 and some ounces. I go back to the cabin, re-line all of my rods and everything. Day Two Tournament- I was in 2nd flight. Took off at 6:30. I had a huge confidence in my wacky rig weightless, skipping under docks on West Okoboji in somewhat clear with stained water. Shallow water up to 4 ft in the canals, got my 1st 14 incher at 7:50 but no keeper. Has to be 15 inch. 3 fish bag. Lake rules. then next dock, got my 2nd fish at 8. No keeper yet. In my mind theres got to be keepers in here. 3rd fish at 8:15, no keeper. then bite died. Went to different area and got to the spot at 8:45 in clear water skipping under docks, got 4th fish at 8:50. Length was 14.5. I was so close. Got numerous of fish 14's. Then I decided to go to the spot that was 10 ft deep threw Lake Fork Tube Craw with 3/8 oz bullet weight. Cast it out there so far as I could, twitch into the grass then bam I got 14.75. No keeper. I took my biggest deep breath. Cast it out far as I could again. Let it sink, twitch it again. I see my line going left. Set the hook as hard I could. Got the 4 pound 22 ounce 18 inch Largie, That thing fought so hard. I let a great yell. Culled the 18 incher into the livewell. The rest the day goes on, No keepers. I only culled one keeper but oh well. I got on the board like other people did. I felt better that I caught fish. I see the clock at 2:15. So I hauled back across the lake into the canals. I got back at 2:45. Weighed the fish 4.22. I felt okay for first tournament ever. What a relief. I go to the weigh in at the hotel Arrowhead. I got 2nd place for Big Bass. The 1st place Big Bass was a whooping 5.22. I was like WHAT! Overall, an amazing experience that I ever had. More tournaments to come.
