  1. I fish here in Florida year round. One of the reasons I moved here in 1973.
  2. You may also be inserting the point of the hook,(to make it weedless) to far down the worm pulling the head of the worm down. It really slows you down when you have to adjust the worm all of the time. Good luck. I have a problem sometime when I start using a different creature type bait for flipping, gettine the hook just right.
  3. If nothing else push a toothpick thru the plastic and the eye of the hook than break it off even with plastic. I have seen this done a long, long time ago.
  4. You know, you have a point. Why fish. I now plan to give it up and try something else.
  5. Black/Grape and watermelon red are about the only colors I use. At times I will use Black/blue and red/shad
  6. small first aid kit flashlight small reel wrench Abu-garcia reel oil Leatherman bug spray sunscreen 2 ft of heavy trimmer line to out P tube 3 pen flares .38 revolver
  7. I pull fish out of docks with 10,12,15 pound mono. For our spawning season I will spool my flipping stick with 17. It works for me. Caught the 7 pounder flipping with 15# mono. (see Avitar)
  8. Innovation 5 inch worm - dropshot (Watermelon Red) Producto 6 inch Tournement Worm - Texas Rig (Black-Grape, Watermelon Red) Culprit 7 1/2 inch worm - Flipping (Black/Blue, Watermelon Red,Red Shad) Dr. Irvs' Gator-Tail Worm - Flipping/Texas Rig (Watermelon Red, Grape Shad, Black/Blue) Charlie Brewer Slider 4 inch worm - Slider Head (Black/Blue, Watermelon Red)
  9. I purchased one a couple of months ago and wish I had have done it sooner. I wear it all of the time I am in the boat and don't even know I have it on. You should get one. Mine was about $120 from Bass Pro Shop.
  10. I use Tru Turn hooks for flipping and pitching. Sometimes I will put one of the screw-on worm keeper if I am using a thick flipping .bait
  11. I have 2 short, 5 1/2 foot rods that I use for finess fishing. I purchased them off of e-bay. Both are quality baitcasting rods with pistol grips. (Left over from when that is what you used). One is medium, and the other is medium heavy. They work great with small baitcasters with 10 pound test. I use them for Sliders, wacky worming, dropshot, and small crankbaits. I have caught up to 5 pound fish on them. Love'um. I also like 6 1/2 foot rods over the 7-71/2 foot rods. I have 2, 7 foot rods in the boat and use them for pitching and flipping regular texas rigged plastics but am not afraid of throwing those short rods!
  12. Remington 270
  13. 6inch Producto Tournament Worm, Grape
  14. Call the airline and they will give you there rules and regs. I have taken one several times on flights and its real easy. Locked Hard Case, Ammo in orginal box/s seperate from gun. Fill out a form. No problems.
  15. X 2 Sirsnookalot!! Very true.
  16. I slider fish about 50 percent of the time. I use 8 and 10 pound Trilene XL. Same with my drop shot.I use both spinning and baitcasting rods and reels.
  17. Use to collect Christmas Trees, weigh them down with cinder blocks, tie a burlap bag of dog food, to attach bait fish, on them and sink them on the second drop offs from shore. Caught a lot of fish of of them before moving away from the area.
  18. I have one 6'6" and two 7" , all MH, Berkley Lightning Rods. They are my main pitching and flipping rods for Texas Worm Fishing. I yanked that 7 pounder you see in my avaitar out the middle of a grass line with one of the 7 footers. And for 25 bucks, you can't go wrong, if you don't like it sell it.
  19. I use the 1/8 oz. flat slider with 3 and 4 inch slider grubs and worms. I also use the weedless slider head, 1/8, and 1/4 oz. with the slider worms. They are fun to fish and I can usually pickup a couple of bass on them. I like the slider worms because the tail floats up and doesn;t sink. I also use them on my drop shot sometimes because of that.
  20. I like the Rapala and Bomber lines of crankbaits. Have caught an awful lot of fish on them. In fact this morning I caught several bass on a small bomber that I purchased in the 80's. Beat up but still catching 'um.
  21. I agree, been using Lightning Rods for a long time. Have 4. Great Value.
  22. I use Trilene XL Low Vis Green for everything. 4#/6# for my ultra light and light; 10#/12# for dropshot, cranks, and pitching plastics ; and I have 15# on my flipping stick. I will go to 17 or 20 in January for prespawn/spawn/and post spawn. I have been using mono for over 45 years and like the way it handles, casts, and feels coming off my reels. It also makes me concentrate more. I don't like to use leaders and have not found a Florocarbon I like. Do want to try the new nanofil on my spinning reels.
  23. Hate to hear you went fishless again here in Florida! What works for me in Florida in the summer is identifying spawning areas, then move out to the closest point (s). Throw a worm, texas rig, drop shot, mojo, etc. on grass line 30-40 yards on either side of point. Work grass line, then start moving down the point itself shallow to deep, then across it in several places. If you locate underwater weeds on that point fish it sloooow. If still nothing start flipping that grass!! I like grass lines with 6' of water at their edge. Another trick I use is cruise the boat docks and find where the builders have sucked up the sand to reinforce the back yards with fill and fish those ditches and humps that are created; also the grass line next to these ditches. Hang in there, it will happen for you.
