  1. I use them a lot flipping and pitching visible grass. When you insert the hook into the worm, insert it deeper so that you can screw the weigh in and it won't push on the top of the hook eye.. It also helps to bite off the very tip of worm if it is rounded. That gives you a flat surface to start the twisting motion..
  2. Welcome. I am just south of you in Sumter County. What lakes do you fish up there?
  3. Ditto Gator Tail worm and the Culprit worm in Watermelon/Red Shad color
  4. I use a Berkley Lightening Rod, 6' 6" Medium Action, Mitchel Spinning reel, 10# test Trilene XL, clear. Works great for me. Nothing real expensive.
  5. I study old maps and logs of the lakes i fish from the 80s and 90s when I kept records of all my trips. Stay in touch with a couple of guys who fish the same lakes. Once a week while I am waiting for one thing or another I will get a rod out of my rod locker and pitch and cast to small targets under my oak trees. While on the lakes i am constantly watching my electronics and observing cover/structure.
  6. I fish a lot of canals in Florida. As long as it is attached to the public lake you should be fine. I am assuming you are in a boat.
  7. I use to take a fly rod with some wet and dry flies. Nothing serious, just fun.
  8. Here in Florida I have caught good fish that have" followed the water". Flipping and pitching.
  9. Seems there is a lot of good bank fishing in Orlando!! Driving thru I have seen good looking canals, don't know if you can get in there or not Good Luck.
  10. The State had purchased 8,000 acres and I was to turn it into a State Forest. We had owned it for apppox. 6 months. I was driving the boundry lines and came upon a freshly made wooden ladder tree stand. I cut it up into small pieces with my chainsaw and then put my business card in the middle of it. That afternoon I got a call from a neighboring landowner letting me know that the stand was on his property not mine. I met him at the site and by night fall I had built a replacement stand. We had a good relationship from then on.
  11. Still have the River Runt that I caught my first bass on in 1958. Steel rod and a baitcaster that the handles turned on it when you cast it.
  12. The old "Vibra-shaft" spinner bait, because it makes me fish it slower.
  13. Talked to a Bass Guide who fished a tourement there 2 weeks ago. Caught fish in the stick ups with curly tail worms, Black I believe. Best I can do. Will check around. Welcome. B. Highhawk
  14. Good comments Skeletor6. I am testing the Yo-Zuri 12 pound test and I have ripped some fish out of the grass flipping with it that I probably couldn't do with 12 pound regular mono. I am really concerned about the sensitivity. Haven't felt much difference.
  15. Testing some Yo-zuri out now on my flipping and pitching rods. Still thinking on it. Haven't seen that much difference at all from mono except has a larger diameter than the same pound mono. And it does have some memory but not bad at all.
  16. You bet'cha. like to see the results
  17. No-mex flight gloves with the leather palms or wool liners with the finger cut out down to the first knuckle.
  18. I use to gather Christmas Trees and use cinder blocks to sink them. Put 5 or 6 in a small area on flats, humps. on shallow side of drop offs. Works great. Be careful, some rules and regs don't allow them. And don't take anyone to them outside your family. I did and they were not a secret anymore.
  19. I have been trying out Yo-zuri's Hybrid line for soft Plastics, Flipping, pitching, and short sidearm casts. So far so good, have caught some fish but still testing. I have always fished " mean green trilene". I do use backing, and when I spooled appox. 40 yards on my reels. (12 pound test). As I was spooling I ran the line thru a rag saturated in "Reel Majic" then tied the end of the line to my fence and streched it out for the 40 yards and keep it under pressure for appox. 15 mins. Then as I was reeling it back on the reel I ran the line again thru the reel majic. I spray reel majic on the line before I start fishing. As I said, so far so good. Have tried FC line and did not like it, just to stiff. Have not tried it for cranks or spinnerbaits.
  20. Most of the fish I catch are 12 to 14 inches. I know that if I am catching fish I will hit some good ones sooner or later.
  21. When I am not throwing Producto Tournament Worms I throw Culprit 7 1/2 inch worm. Caught fish up to 10.2 pounds on them. I fish them in stained water anywhere you would fish a worm.
  22. I fish drop shot in the shallow lakes of Florida. Usually 4 to 8 feet with some sucess. Most of the lakes I fish are only 15 to 20 feet deep.. I am glad I can fish year around now that I really don't hunt much.
  23. I change all of my crankbaits to triple grip hook, usually size 4 and 6.
