Power For A Hummingbird 150
This is what I use for my kayak's fish finder. It works great and is pretty small and compact.

Grate Or Great??? Updated 9/25/12
Found out that they were allowed to read to their kids at home, but only books that the class was supposed to read and no other books. Her friend was actually "talked to" by the schools principal and warned that they were to no longer read other materials to their kids. And yeah, it's crazy that it actually happens like that.

Grate Or Great??? Updated 9/25/12
And you want to hear something that is really sad with regards to that? My sister-in-law was going to send her kids to public school where they live until they found out from a friend that they were forbidden by the school to read to their own kids at home. The school said that it put the kids that were read to at home an unfair advantage in the classroom to the kids that weren't read to at home. Therefore instead of having kids that want to learn at an accelerated rate, they had kids that are held back from learning so that the other kids can "catch up".. Thusly, my sister-in-law home schools...

How Long Can You Safely Run A Trolling Motor On High Speed??
I wouldn't think it'd hurt it one bit. The motor is down in the water so it's being cooled the whole time while running.

All You Reel Experts, Help Please
Exactly what I was going to say. eBay seller says New-In-Box! But it's a refurb or factory reject he bought in a large quantity for cheap to dump on people on eBay for a big markup from what he paid.

Kayaks And Fish Finders
Yeah the type of kayak kind of matters on how you install it. My SOT ocean kayak has an oversized front scupper hole where you can run the transducer down and it's flush with the bottom of the kayak. If your scuppers are too small or you have a sit in kayak most transducers can shoot through the plastic hull of the kayak and it can be mounted inside. The only downside is you lose accuratr temperature readings.

What Is That One Lure That Always Catches Fish For You?
When all else fails a rooster tail will catch some sort of fish. I've caught small mouth, largemouth, spotted bass, crappie, catfish, and all sorts of pan fish on them.

Kayaks And Fish Finders
I have a lowrance Elite-4x DSI mounted on my Ocean Kayak. Works great. I would save up for something better than those fishin buddy finders. The down scan finders really are a lot better the older style finders.

Budget Spinning Rods < $50
My current spinning combo consists of an Abu Cardinal 102i reel and a Berkley Amp 6'6" M rod and I think they work pretty well together. The rod was only $30 after the Berkley Cherrywood rod that came with the reel snapped on half on me. My only complaint with the rod is its a 2-piece (I require that since 1-piece rods don't fit in my car) and it comes apart sometimes when I cast. Not a big deal and I just have to remember to push the sections together better when I start.

Question About Driving A Bass Boat
As said above check your local and state laws. Here in Missouri you have to be at least 14 to operate any motorized boat or Personal Water Craft (i.e. Jetski). In addition anyone born after 1/1/1984 has to take and pass a Boaters Safety Certification course to be able to operate a boat/PWC.

Newb Question About Reels
The higher the gear ratio the faster the line comes in. The ratios go like this: a 7.1:1 ratio reel will spin the spool 7.1 revolutions for every one full turn of the handle. You want a high ratio reel (>7:1) for burning top water baits or for getting fish out of cover quickly or getting a crank bait down deep quickly. A low ratio reel (<5:1) is for making slower presentations for when fish aren't actively feeding etc. Most people use something like a 6.x:1 reel for an all around general use reel.

4" puke colored BPS tube or white super fluke. Rebel craws always work well too.

How Long Do Jigs Last You
I wish more jig makers used powder coated heads. The cheaper ones I've tended to buy from Wally world are painted and banging them off rocks wears through the paint pretty quickly leaving a bare lead head.

Storage For Plastic Worms?
I started keeping them in the boxes that came with my tackle bags, now I just leave them in the bags they come in. That way the scent that comes on them doesn't proliferate through the tackle bag and stays on the worms...

Fish Jumping/breaching The Surface
Go to YouTube and search for Asian Carp. You will see a fish that truly jumps out of the water, even into the boat sometimes. They jump from the vibrations of boat engines or even loud or vibrating lures in the water.

Is This The Thermocline On My Dsi Finder?
I'm thinking that's what it is. We had some really heavy rain the two days previous from the remnants of Issac. The day after that picture the line wasn't there anymore. I'm thinking the water was mixing from the rain as the water temp about a month ago in this pond was around 82-83 degrees. And as you can see the surface temps the other day were around 78 or so. I think the rain cooled the surface down, the water mixed and yesterday it was mixed enough to not show the difference on my finder anymore. Yesterday the surface temp was around 80-81. The bite was off too as I only managed about 10 compared to 30 or so the previous day.
