  1. Except for Bass Pro Shop.
  2. Do you know fishsniffer.com? It is Sacrament/Delta fishing site that you might get more leads if you post there.
  3. Which issue was that?
  4. Thanks, Raul. Man there was video like this for over 30 years? I didn't get the memo. I'll admit, I never knew schooling and non-schooling fish are two separate groups. I thought same fish become schooled and unschooled depending on circumstances. Anyone has suggestion on a good write up on this schooling vs non-schooling topic?
  5. Joey, I agree with both points mentioned above in power selection: 1. Lure rating --- what (weight) are you throwing? 2. Environment ---Are you fishing in heavy vegetation? If not, you might get away with medium. My personal standard is MH. M is too wimpy for my taste.
  6. I've recently moved from California to Texas. It is not just hot but humid. I do not see myself enjoying fishing all day in this climate. A lot of locals fish night time this time of the year. Also good fishing lake here gets so busy with wakeboarders. Because of these, my current pattern is to fish from 5 or 6a to 10a, so I get my fishing before the heat and traffic. Back when I was in California I used to fish 6-8 hours.
  7. I'm looking to buy a spring analog scale. Anyone has any recommendation other than boga? I like 20-25 lbs with 1/4 lbs accuracy.
  8. Went out to Lady Bird Lake in Austin this morning at 6am. This lake is electric motor only lake. I avoided usual Lake Austin, which was said to be super crazy this weekend. Since I am new in the area I didn't know what to expect at the lake I went, but it was nothing different from the last time I went. Caught a couple of 4 #'s on buzz bait early. Later switched to plastic and missed three. Out from the water by 10a. Went out to lunch/shopping with my daughter.
  9. I have lower back problem, but it is nothing compared to yours. (My doc said my back looks normal for my age.) Good luck to you, bill.
  10. Yeah, I think you might have gotten a bad intel somewhere, unless you mean suuuupppperrr sloooooooooooooow, like one inch per minute. I love plastic fishing. To me cranks and spinnerbaits are too automatic, if you know what I mean.
  11. Welcome to the forum! I had to say that my moment was when I realize that I don't catch fish unless I fish where the fish are.
  12. I was joking about the price of the boat in case you took it seriously...
  13. Like A-jay said, depends on application. Sometimes I want the hook that bends and that's not always a bad thing. Having said that I'm leaning towards twist lock type of hooks because the plastic last longer.
  14. When I am fishing, one of the two things are usually happening. 1. Thinking so hard where the fish are, and if I am not catching, what I should do to catch them 2. Monkey in my head is throwing some daily junk which I do not want to think about while fishing Either way I am busy in my head. Being bored does not happen to me while fishing. I get tired, yes, but not being bored. I do not need music. If I am doing some repetitive 'work' like delivering news paper, I might need music yes, but not while fishing. I say if you get bored, you are not 'that' into fishing. That's totally okay thou, everybody is different. When I take my daughter out and not catching fish, she gets bored quickly, but I think she still enjoys fishing when she catches one.
  15. For me I don't mind adjusting the sink rate with weight / line / hook than depending on the bait itself. What do you do when wind picks up or you want to use your bait deeper that day? I have the color and shape that I like and I just make it work. (At lease I hope I do.)
  16. I think bass generally follow the most expensive boat on the lake at that time. So when you see those expensive boat fish the same area joking aside, one needs to "put time" on the water to find the pattern and catch fish. There's good chance the ones who spend lots of money on the boat fish a lot, therefore there's good chance they know the current pattern. Learn by observing them. I recently moved to a new state and I am out of the elements to say the least, but slowly learning by my own experience and by watching others.
  17. If I were to buy me one all around combo, I would go with MH/F 6'9" rod with 7.1 to 1 reel. Shorter rods will let me use it in tight spots, especially if your fishing involves in bank fishing with trees behind/above you. 7.1 because I have no problem going slow with it. But I think other posters advice above are more of main stream.
  18. Yeah, that probably explains the instant death.
  19. What do you already have and what is the reason you getting another set up? Did you already have medium and wanted get something a bit stiffer? I adjust my drag loose a bit with braid.
  20. Wow, never heard of something like this. Which spot did the hook go through?
  21. I use Rapala® Mini 25 lb. Digital Fish Scale. I bought if for the size being so tiny. When I got it, I checked against the exercise weights of various size and found it to be accurate enough for me.
  22. Maybe different kind of problem, but I only have a trolling motor myself and the boat spins around and hard to control in the wind. I fill empty soda bottles with water, tie rope and deploy on the other end of the boat. I have two of them at the moment and they give a light resistance to the end and boat spins less. I just leave them in the water from the start to finish. It doesn't seem to slow my boat much at this low speed level.
  23. Cooler box a.k.a seat for my boat. Sunglasses => I forget in the car often as I usually start fishing when the light is low.
  24. Tracker site says Approx. package weight 1129 Lbs for current model, assuming package weight means boat + trailer.
  25. Those of you night fish...what kind of lighting you have so that you can see well enough that you can cast against the bank without sending your lure to the tree branches every other time?
