  1. Yeah, I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions, including the color of the reel. My opinion....It's too bad that they didn't continue the Curado green tradition. I would still buy this reel. Maybe around the Labor day sale.
  2. x2. No backing line with straight braid. If I were flouro person, the story might be different.
  3. I was waiting for closeout sales, only to find that they don't seem to be overstocked. Shimano played it right I guess. Before I heard about Curado I, I paid $116 new in December off of eBay, and haven't found anything better since.
  4. Is your something like this? http://www.walmart.com/ip/25479743?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=41833582510&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=19880599990&veh=sem Actually I also want to try to grind off the site plate screw head which was stripped off. So maybe this is not a good option.
  5. Out of all the kits, which one is good starter kit for reel parts polishing? The other brands no good? This one is like $10. http://www.harborfreight.com/80-piece-rotary-tool-kit-69451.html#.UyfpLM6upJE
  6. So were you able to get this out? I've just bought a used Curado 200E7 and had one of the screw head stripped which I didn't realize until I started taking this a part. And also are these screws something you can buy from local Shimano dealers or am I wasting time looking around locally?
  7. You cannot stand on the slate floor that comes with it. However, once I had an idea about laying thiner smaller floor on top of that original. I never tried this idea. You can roll the slate floor, which cuts the set up time.
  8. With the custom hardfloor, I can honestly do jumping jacks on it without worries. It has enough width which I think helps a lot. What is the typcial condtion like where you fish? In addition to the wind, the other hazards for me are the wakeboarders. When they come near, I sit until they are gone. I thnk I paid mid $200's for the boat itself. I don't know how much the one you are looking at, but it might not be much difference if you look at it over the life of the boat. If you have relatively small boat for the size of your car/truck, it is faster to load and unload. You can just toss things in any order you want. For me, I have the boat with hard floor, motor, two batteries, tackel bag, anchor, 7 rods, fish finder, net, oars, cooler box (= chair), dry bag and other safety equipment...my car is full. When it is full like that, loading / unloading needs some planing so that everything fits and not damaged, and that means more time.
  9. Hey bigbill, if your comment is addressed to me, I 'm not considering moving only for fishing. Sadly I still have to work.
  10. I've been doing this for over two seasons now. As you can tell, I am not very excited about inflatable as Vzwire. At the same time, I know inflatable can get the job done. I just want to tell you what I know so that you can make informed decision. When you are deciding motor size, do condiser the condition of the water you fish. If it can get windy, you'll be glad you got the bigger motor. Actually the same goes with choosing the boat. Where I fish, I would not consider anything smaller than what I have. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/gallery/image/7866-sany0669/ Set up time for me is, if I hassle, it can be 20 minutes. But that's only if I want to be soaking sweaty. Typically it takes about 30 mintues for me. Taking down is faster, probably 20 minutes. Pakcking and uppacking is very time consuming too. I often leave stuff in the car becaue it is just too much work. Good luck and be safe!
  11. I'm considering a move to Austin. I posted to a local forum asking how the fishing is. Check out what kind of responses I got. And I thought I was just posting to a fishing froum. http://www.austinbassfishing.com/forum/black-bass-fishing-reports/41352-how-fishing-austin.html
  12. Was the other side exact same pattern?
  13. You can just take the hitch off when your lease is up. I think some of them are bolt on to existing holes. I have Mariner-4 with custom floor. I really hate setting up / taking it down. If I were to do it again, I would make the floor so that I can just drop in without deflating it, so that I can carry the boat on the roof of the car inflated. Something for you to think about. If you get the variable speed trolling motor (Digital Maiximizer or something), it will just sip the juice of the battery when you are on low speed. 5-speed one use the same amount of juice no matter what speed you are on, therefore less time on the motor. Although they are more expenisve.
  14. It all depends for me as I go very diferent places with different approaches (boat/bank/hike-up, length etc.) I have some skunk days, unfortunately especially closer waters. I am generally happy to catch one. The most I have ever caught was probably 20ish, so someone above talking about 20+ average going 100 sounds almost unreal. Anyhow, I too recommend you add some other presentation. They don't have to be plastic, but something you can present in different depth with different speed.
  15. I thought when OP said mount he meant replica.
  16. He is not the first to refer to the barometric pressure as a possible connection to this saying. Jimmy Houston's book also stated something similar. Hum, let me think this out loud...if the wind is blowing from east, doesn't that mean a front is approaching therefore fishing should be good? If the wind is blowing from west, the front just passed there for blue bird sky with less fishing action? i don't know. Actually I have never heard of this saying.
  17. This is something I hope not to be the case very soon, but currently I use inflatable boat and I just hate setting it up and taking it down spending 30 +/- minutes each. I'm happy with the boat itself, but just too much work for just 'a tool' for fishing.
  18. I think people have different ideas about good distance to others. If I were you, I would have just left. That migt have send him a message.
  19. Drewski73, a few of questios for you. Are the rollers on the extender just plain PVC pies? How hard was it for you to lift the nose of the boat on to the extender when you are on the ramp by yourself? Should be harder than doing it in your garage where it is leveled, but wondering how much harder. With all the weight of your rig, are you able to lift the front side of be boat and move the boat up the ramp by yourself?
  20. Very nice and thanks for update! I think your extender idea is brilliant !
  21. I call "dink" anything under legal. 2-> "2lbers". 3-> "3lbers" etc. Over 3 -> "nice fish".
  22. Agree with FlipnLimits. Maybe not with jigs but with 3/4 oz lipless crank or spoon I run out of the line under right conditions with 200 sized reel spooled with 65 lbs braid. 50 size might not hold enough depending on what you are doing with it.
  23. I bought low end BPS automatic/manual inflatable from fleamarket here. The seller included a new rearm kit with it. Very light, and I forget that I am wearing. One thing with low end model is that it can go off even though you are not in the water if it gets wet. It is fine for me here in Cali, but if you get lots of rain in your area, this might not work. You might know this already, but I didn't know that when I bought it.
  24. Texas sounds nice! I've been stuck in where I am for many years due to personal reasons. However that will end soon and I'll be 'free man'. I was thinking about moving to different part within the state, but this thread got me thinking about possibility of going to somewhere totally different and better.
  25. I used to be an avid windsurfer and there's a techinque called 'loop'. You jump off of waves and make a flip in the air with your board and sail and land on your board and keep going. I started using this handle when I first sticked one of those. And I have daughters. Hey but with so many PI's on this site, you sure this is a good idea to tell your stories? jk
