  1. okay i cant use and cranks i fish in stockton i even tryed the shallow think is was only 1 or 2 feet and still kept getting tangled in the weeds pullign them up. i found that june bug and black were the 2 best colors for me but neither are doing what they were a few months ago. i hear you there all though i hear were supposed to get a cold snowy winter this year we shall see. i think most places were getting 70* in the middle on january and February. ill have to try some flukes i thought they were usually best in the spring from what i was told. im running low on senkos i may run out and get some more and hope there are on the rare "buy 1 get 1 free deal". whats the best color/ more popular in new jersey? im down in south jersey.
  2. after a long time off from bass fishing i just got back into it in the summer. found that senkos worked very well but had a down side very expensive for a worm that only lasted 1 fish 2-3 @most then i learned about wacky rig style. long story short after i got sick i stopped going out then doctors appts. kept popping up or weather was messing me up. been gettign out a few times this week, and it almost seems dead. are bass still active? i have heard that a certain time they go dormant but usually in winter when water freezes over if it gets cold. still using works and senkos but no luck. i have no luck with frogs did not catch a thing this year had a few hits but missed them still learning how to properly fish them, and when to set the hook. what should i bw using this time of the year? i know there are lures specifically for spring that are most effective then. is it the same for this time of the year or is bass fishing just slowing down?
  3. o yea the table kind not the kind that snap on pool an di have all bait casters i have some spinning not many. don't know what the batteries are for but some of the berkleys mention taken batteries
  4. not sure if this is right section or not hoping it is since it says line and reels. i had recently baught 2k yards of pline fluorocarbon and i still have some reels i need to spool up. i have been doign a few of them the old school way with a pencil and its just a pain in the ass and some what hard to do 4 things at oen time holding down the spool keeping pressure on the line guiding it in and reeling. since i have a $20 ebay bucks certificate i was considering buying one of the spooling machines on there for $25 or $30 from berkley. there not the big ones that tackle shops have i'm not sure if they are machines or not but i was just thinking they may be a lot easier now you have something holding the spool and keeping tension and could be faster. has anyone tried these are they worth it? i could be wrong but i think my 2k spool is 2 pounds i was reading some only hold 1 pound
  5. imma get a snagproof i think they only like $4 at dicks just to try it out. gotta figure out whats not goign right. occasionally ill get a strike but i hear and read some peopel say they can get alot of hits with a frog. i walk it better in the pads then open water but for some reason the better and longer i maintain the side dance i think i would get a hit but i dont. seems like it does nothing even tryed skipping across the pads
  6. how you fishing the frog if its not walk the dog? got it down with my new one walkign th edog but does not seem nearly as good as people say it is bass apprently blow up on it the 3rd-4th side dance, and i know the bass are they. seems they rather have a senko then a frog making me feel like i waisted $150 on a pole and $225 on a reel
  7. mayhave to trim new one cant get it to walk as easy as yesterday on old one
  8. GETTing it now. must be wrong color i had soem bass jumping out of water while it was working but non went for it. starteddoing quick short fast gently snaps and reel slowly and what do you know it starts walking im sure ill get real good at it adn get timing down i cant get it to walk the whole retrieve yet or as good as i seen others do it but getting some were now. picked up a rainforest spro so give this a try tomorrow this one seems differnet though the legs feel softer adn not as many strains as my other one
  9. ill try to trim so more tomorrow. its still hard all it wants to do is go straight even with 1" trimmed off. i get it to swim to the side once ot twice on a hard fast jerk then it stops. im goign to assume this i sluck but i have had 2 or 3 bass jump on the frog got 1 in the other 2 i missed. not sure how long you have to wait until you set hook. was told by one person locally count to 5 then set it and read soem were else set hook as soon as you feel the weight but missed em both. i had my dad grab me a green rain forest or what ever that rainforest color is while he was at cabelas
  10. i hope i get this down sometime soon i even read an artical saying you should take half of th elegs on each side and just cut them off.
  11. still cant get it to walk starting to get on my nerves literally feels liek you needs a 3 or 4 foot pole the tip keeps hittign th ewater and all it does is move the slack in line dont make the frog move at all
  12. not sure if this is right spot to put this or not i could not find a thread for hook removers etc. i just got this from dicks sporting goods after hearign how nice and easy these were. got a few fish yesterday and today and ended up goign old school and usign my fingers to remove hooks. i cant get this thing to work, and i hear its so easy. pull and twist is what instructions say i grab the hookpull up and twist and nothing happens dont release hook or anything and if i under stood correct as soon as you pull and turn a little hook is supposed to fall right out. am i doing something wrong does it matter if the barb is still on? when i twist after pulling it really does nothing but scratch up the paint on hook. before i return this and get my money back i want to see if its something else im missing or not doing right.
  13. more i throw it seems liek its getting a lil bit closer but still just swimming straight. am i supposed to be reeling while im doign this or what?
  14. trimmed about an inch of and still not easier getting it a little butwhen i twitch it the tip just keeps going in the water and the line still moves but dont do nothing to the frog unless i make a fast agreesive snap then it jumps out of water sometimes
  15. just tryed again and keeping the tip low and twitching does not a think all twitching with tip low does is move the slack in line
  16. hello guys, i just got a spros bronzeeye frog in natural green. also got the powell max from rod with 65# pp braid on a curado 201. i just took it out last night with o luck at the usual lake. i watched the video on here how to walk a spro frog and it said its very easy. i will probabl ykick my self in the butt if i find out it was very easy and i was missing something so simple. and i could not get it to walk side to side. i pointed the rod tip down. (im on land if this means anything) did the twitching and up and down wont move side to side. can some one please help me with what i have to do or what i could be doign wrong? reall yappreciate it. also i just took the frog out of the package and put it on. i hope i can figure this out an dpactice up in my bak pond before i head out tonight.
  17. hello i have been throwing a dt 16 from the shore i have read the rapala dts are great crankbaits so thought i would give it a try. i only made 3 casts every one i got a ton of grass as soon as it would hit water few cranks and hooked on the grass. is there a certain place you fish these. i keep getting hooked on the grass. i thought you wanted to be in grassy areas with these. im not sure how deep it is maybe 6 foot. another lake i fish at is about 22" thats why i got the dive to 16. would be nice to try this out without the weed problem.
  18. I'm trying to buy some fluorocarbon in big roll stores only supply ande and big game mono so I need to go through eBay or basspro. I hear fluoro has more upsIDE then mono. Im looking into getting seaguar fluorocarbon for my baitcasters. Figured give that a try they make the beat leader for off shore fishing that's all we use here. My question is what #test should I get I can't find it in 15 as small as 4 6 8101220 and 25. What pound should I be getting I have 15# berkley trilene 100% on my revo but they do t have it in big spool on eBay in America just over seas.
  19. I need a rod for my curado 51 e want to get a rod for frogging. I like my st croix for worms. Is the st croix frog rod any good I hear some reviews saying the mh fast that I use for spinners is a better frog rod then the actual frog rod. I'm trying to avoid paying $200. I also have another reel filled with 30# braid pp will they get me buy in Lilly pads? That's we're I'll be fishing the frogs hate to buy more if the 30 will do or at least get me by I just got it. I prefer to buy on eBay as well if anyone here even has just a frog rod for sale and willing to put on eBay I'm interested for a good deal. I only use PayPal with bill me later
  20. Im confused as to why some of the rod handles are all cork and others like mojo bass are cork back to rid then cork if I'm explaining it right they got the cork handle then it goes to the rod metal then at bitten back to cork what's this for I don't under stand what the purpose and others are all cork from reel to bottem I hope I explained this right if not look at the mojo bass style then I think the avid that's all cork the mojo is not I'm looking into buying a frog rod and I love my st croix for worms
  21. Leftys is all I can use I'm left handed its more natural for me I can throw right but hurts my wrist unless I hold the reel or a rod with a 2nd grip above reel now my off shore gear I can do right handed for marlin tuna etc. I just hate how lefty are hard to come by in my area. Leftys are easy to get used to just feels weird at first but so much more comfortable for me
  22. I'm out of town. I was on eBay and found I have eBay bucks expiring soon so I need new line anyway. I Trued searching the sticky on my iPhone could not find much. I have Tryed fluorocarbon berkley friend 100 %. I have been told that fluoro is literally a must have. Is there really much of a difference between fluoro and mono? Besides the stretch does one have a blogger advantage over ther other, and what brand and # test is the best too many too choose from and I hear there are a lot of bad brands out there. Thanks
  23. i actually have 2 spools one big game 20# test 500 yards i believe and ande green line both mono in 350 or something like that thats in 15#.
  24. i dont have a spooling machine thats why i just take it down to the local store. 120 yards of fluro was only costing me $12. i would do it my sefl if i got ahold of a spooling machine or something that woudl make it easier. last tiem o spooled mono on my own it was very lose hard doing 5 things at once. holdign the rod cranking the reel, holding the line, keepign pressure on the line, and guiding it. i lose patience fast. but yea i see what you mean doign your own is cheaper. i woudl just buy a big 1500-3000 yard line i have the storage just dont have the equipment. i coudl be wrong but i think spoolign machines are close to a grand if i were to buy one.
  25. as for the mono its not much cheaper then fluro. fluro is 10 cents mono is 8 cents a yard. hopefully ill get out tonight to see if i an master it with the new advice. could not get out last night with all the rain.
