  1. I have several and the only advantages I feel the micros have over the regular guides is the are easier to get in and out of the rod box, rods dont seem to get tangle together as bad, and I feel pitching and flipping accuracy is better.
  2. I have both reels and they both have the their good points and bad points. The lews tp is a little smoother and quieter but doesnt touch the stx gen 3 in casting/pitching distance. The stx feels better in my palm then the lews. Some people have a problem with how low the gear box hangs on the new gen 3's I dont have a problem with it though. Cant go wrong with either one my dad likes the lews and I like the stx better.
  3. I dont have both but I have a 705cb diesel and the 723cef diesel and the are great rods for the money. I have no complaints with either one they are also fairly light for that price range rod.
  4. I used an old 4 piece rod I had for camera holder. I JB welded a threaded stud that fits into the camera threads on one end. I shove one end of the camera stick in the dirt and screw the camera on the top. The sections are about 15" each and they fit in my fising backpack I use for pond fishing. The picture of the fish in my avatar was taken with it. Its hard to stay in the center of the frame when taking a picture yourself so you usually have to crop the pic afterwards.
  5. When fishing a full moon I always do best in the late afternoon or the first thirty minutes of daylight in the morning before the sun is even all the way up. By the time the sun is all the way up its time to go home. This is in the local neighborhood pond.
  6. Id guess in the 7.5# range
  7. The fish in my avatar is 9-2 and I caught in a 5 acre golf course pond. I have caught 5 over 8# this year in golf course ponds alone. You still have to put the time in to catch them. I fish 4-5 days a week in the afternoons for about an hour. You can catch a 8#+ in just about any body of water large or small. A couple of weeks ago my father and I caught 75 fish and the avg size was around 2.5-3lbs with about a dozen around 4# and several around 6lbs.
  8. Picture of the 6.5 I caught today click pic to enlarge.
  9. Ive had good luck with pop r's when fishing small ponds right at sun down.
