  1. Thanks for the french onion soup recipe I have been meaning to look one up.
  2. I have several an love them. I have never had an issue fishing in the slop with micro guides the tip eye catches all the grass and junk. Just like it does with a rod that has regular guides. One thing that hasnt been mentioned is if your eyesight isnt the greatest they can be a little tough to run your line through. I dont have a problem but my dad has a hell of a time unless he has his glasses with him.
  3. Mine came in a cardboard tube but its not as thick as the tube TW uses.
  4. I used to put a small wrap of tape the 1/4 inch fine line tape on my rods when I was into wade fishing for snook, trout and redfish.
  5. Citca for sure. I also use my shimanos as a benchmark for casting ability the only reel that I have found that will touch my citica and curado e's is my gen 3 stx that thing will fling a lure a mile. Im not a fan boy either I have almost every brand of reel and I have more citica e's then any of the others. IMO they are probably one of the best bang for buck reel I have encountered.
  6. I ordered on rod from BTD it took 2 weeks to get here and I was less then impressed with how they packaged it. Needless to say it was my last order. TW and the Tackletrap wrap a piece of tape around the handle end of the rod and tape it to the outside of the tube to keep the rod from sliding forward and braking the tip off.
  7. Same here I fill about half the spool with mono then finish with the braid.
  8. Same here I have both dobyns champs and falcon caras. They are both great rods and the sensitivity is same to me. I prefer the falcons over the dobyns champs myself for a couple of reason you can get the falcons in micro guide if you want. They are also made in the USA which has alot of weight with me. I also like how plain they are, Im not into all the graphics and colors that are on the dobyns.
  9. Falcon bucoo micro guide I like them more then my powell endurance rods. This is true for most rods except falcons the are about 2 powers off. Their 7 power is actually more like a 5 power. Their 5 power is closer to a 4 power.
  10. The short shank trebles allow you to go up a size and the hooks not get tangled up on the bait.
  11. I have not had a problem with the tension cap. +1 on the brake set-up except if Im casting with the wind or there is no wind I will turn the magnetic brake off. I mainly use the mag brakes to fine tune to the conditions.
  12. Ponds are my favorite followed by lakes. Not alot of rivers in S.Florida so I dont have much experience on them.
  13. Tubes/Worms/Plastics-Watermelon red flake, red shad, Black and Blue Spinnerbaits-White/Red, Black, White/Chartruese Lipless Cranks-Chrome/blue, Gold, Red craw Jigs-Green pumpkin, Black/blue, Orange/Brown
  14. Costa 580g sunglasses followed very closely by the powerpole.
  15. 5200 is permanent for what you want to do thats what I would use. Ive seen where it was used on a motor bracket and when they pulled the bracket off the gelcoat/glass came with it.
  16. The C designates the new lay out. You can get a 520c with out carbon. They are only making 100 520c carbons I think I read somewhere.
  17. I use mustad kvd triple grips most of my baits have #4 with a few #2 and #6 mixed in. Some baits have one #2 and one #4.
  18. I have 4 powell rods none of them are M so I cant help on the power. I have recently been buying falcon bucoo micro guides I like them a little more then the powells they are a little cheaper and they are made in the USA. I first checked one out at walmart and was impressed so I ordered one and I now have 3.
  19. I dont notice a difference between the two.
  20. I use a 7'2" medium moderate action rod with straight braid. I used to use mono only but found with the braid you can make smaller movements with lure becuase of the zero stretch. Never had an issue with the braid but you do have to keep you drag a little looser.
  21. I lost a fish around 7.5# because the hook straightend out. I didnt learn my lesson and about a week later I lost another one around 5 since then I put kvd trebles on them.
  22. Powell diesel for $70 is hard to beat.
  23. Diawa samurai has on my to try list for a while. I have read nothing but great reviews about it.
