Curado 50e for $120 - Yes or No
My favorite platform. I have two curado 50e, a Scorpion, and Chronarch. Love em. Dead simple, reliable, never have to worry about them.

Tungsten vs Lead
Buy it from china for a fraction of the price. I just placed a large order and I don't plan on buying more for years :-) Do your due diligence and you should be fine.

MHX Elite Pro Series
Sounds kinda similar to what Rod Geeks did. I emailed asking the difference between the C473MHXS and the B473MHXS. They are almost the same but the bass version except " the big difference is that the bass version has the reinforcing material. This blank will me more durable, but it is just as light and sensitive as the Carbon 4 blank. " Direct quote from the email I got from Rodgeeks. The weights on the elite series seem pretty impressive if they deliver the same sensitivity and durability.

rod on a airplane
I'd do this. I built a custom holder out of PVC pipe and foam rubber from Home Depot. Not too expensive to build, super secure, and around the same price to ship it as check it both ways.

Daiwa reels
Tatula CT is more compact sure... But it depends what your'e looking for. Are you looking for a true compact size reel? Alphas platform looks to be pretty dang sweet.

Flippin/Pitchin' Blank...
Which of those two do you recommend? Just looking at the weights they seem to be a touch heavier than other blanks, not that that makes a huge difference. I've actually got an ETEC72MH waiting for me to finish wrapping right now. Then an ETES72ML to be stripped down and built! Those eternity's are nice! Excited to see the updated ones For this build I'm pretty settled on the Liberty blank. Was able to get in touch with someone that built on the 764 and uses it for exactly what I'm intending to use it for and said if anything it was under rated. Price is right, weight is nice and i'll get to try something new. I like to have two of everything though so I will probably build my next flipping stick on a revelation blank. Will there be any trickle down into the revelation series? I know the Eternity's are getting updated (Rx9+?) and the Immortals are staying the same.

Flippin/Pitchin' Blank...
I think I had a zirconia titanium alps top picked out. Was definitely gonna spiral wrap. Spiral wrapping an ETEC72MH right now. Sweet stick for sure. Can't find much info on the Liberty. Supposed based off the old shikari blank rolled by Cousins maybe?(at least the 764 is rumored to be, cant find much on the 766. Was going to call the folks @ Get Bit tomorrow to see what they say). Kind of leaning that way because the price is right. Wouldn't mind using the 764 if they think it would work, almost an ounce lighter I think. Any other input? Probably gonna pull the trigger tomorrow.

Tow Vehicle
I have a diesel to tow my 18ft aluminum boat... Glass boat plans fell through due to other investments taking priority :-( That being said... My buddy has a ford 7.3 that was made by IDI before they became powerstrokes. Sick motor, plenty of power, easy to work on, more than capable of towing, and can usually be had pretty cheap.

New to me champion
haha I saw that boat on CL and pointed it out to my buddy. If you need a good mechanic, Ken Howden of Holiday Mobile is one of THE BEST if not the best.

Flippin/Pitchin' Blank...
Posted this on another forum and no bites so far so I figured I'd ask here as well. Well I've decided this summer I'm going to become a better grass fisherman. The lakes here typically have submerged milfoil. Occasionally it will mat up on top, but nothing like you see on some lakes that are known for it. We've also got some pretty heavy wood on some lakes so it will probably be more general purpose than just specifically submerged vegetation. Looking for a blank around 7'6" that can handle this. I'd like to keep the blank under $100 if possible. I'm going to use Recoil guides and braid... Why? I've actually had a few people ask me about them. (Actually have a guy wanting me to build 'Father and Son' rods for a graduation gift. The 'lightest most sensitive' available. He's the one that actually brought up recoils) I haven't built a rod with them, or fished a rod that uses them, so I can't really give them first hand experience, just what I've read. I've read all the horror stories and really want to get some experience with them. Lately I've been building on Immortal and Eternity blanks but I dont think I need a super high dollar stick for this project plus its fun to try new things. I've been looking at the Bushido FS78-12/25 and a couple of Liberty blanks. Specifically the FS764 or the FS766. Has anyone used any of these? THoughts? Recommendations? I might even throw on a Daiwa T3... Lets see if the guides and T-Wing will groove! :-) 8-[

expensive jigs
Biggest difference I've noticed is head design. Some work better than others. If I really want a specific kind of jig now a a days I look for someone that pours them. Almost always considerably cheaper than buying from a large store, and you get the profile and hook style you want.

Boat cover
You've got a couple of options. A lot of awning places here actually do boat covers. However, this option is typically pretty pricey. Not quite 1000 (depending on the boat of course) but the good places here measure everything and you have an awesome cover that perfectly fits your boat made out of nice material. If you feel handy at all you could also attempt to do it yourself. We've got a ton of fabric stores here that sell "sunbrella" (I believe thats a brand name but it's basically UV protected fabric) material. You could measure your boat out, buy some grommets, and save a lot of money that way. I helped my buddy make one for his aluminum boat. He bought the material, we measured it out and made our cuts. Straight lines weren't super important because we folded the edges back over themselves and stitched it that way. Installed some grommets and voila, custom boat cover.

Fuel Additives?
If you're really curious about additives I'd highly recommend the bob is the oil guy forums. It's like the bass resource for all things oil/additive/car related!

Whats a decent price
For anything thats plastic/synthetic I'd highly recommend Aerospace 303 protectant. Your gauge cluster, steering wheel, seat covers, trolling motor etc. Family friends used to sell spas and would always include a bottle to help keep the spa covers last longer in the AZ sun. Stuff works amazing. Congrats on your purchase! A boat with that size motor here would probably go for more than 5k.

Anyone get a 2016 Shimano Scorpion yet?
How do you guys like the new brake system? I LOVE my curado 50es/Ch50es and my one equiv scorpion. My most versatile reels IMO.

Most sensitive rod for bottom techniques
I'd be very wary of anyone who definitively said one rod was the most sensitive by far. Honestly most people would be hard pressed to find the difference in sensitivity in most 'high end' rods. NRX, Any of the St Croix blanks built on SCV, Phenix K2, NFC etc. I'd say DVT hit the nail on the head. Half the reason people think NRX are king is because of the brand loyalty and name they've built up. Not saying their not great rods, but there are plenty out there that are just as good.

Edge Black Widow Vs St Croix Legend Elite
Im of the opinion most high end blanks perform VERY similarly and the biggest difference comes down to getting the specific action you want and brand preference. If you built a custom on any high end, NFC, K2, SCV, Eternity2 etc I'm sure you'd be more than happy. I love the competition as it tends to breed innovation and we as anglers win. I'm slowly phasing out my off the shelf rods for customs. I like knowing exactly what I'm getting every single time.

DVT does amazing work. Highly recommended.

Rod Or Reel
I've pulled some BIG bass (no scale so who knows how big) out of some nasty stuff in Obregon with inexpensive reels. Guess we'll just agree to disagree :-)
-
Rod Or Reel
Um absolutely. 100 times over. I'd rather feel the subtle bite and fight the bass than miss it altogether with an inferior rod. Especially if I'm using it for bottom contact presentations. We go after little green fish that more often than not don't tax our reels much at all. If it was between NRX/k2/SCV/Eternity2/NFC blanks w/ Mettle reels or a 60 dollar rod with all Metanium/Steez reels... High end blanks all day.
