  1. I think that the size of the bait fish really has a lot to do with it. I usually try to take a leaf out of the fly-fisherman's book and "match the hatch" with whatever I'm throwing. The size of bass in the pond that you're fishing has something to do with it too. If I knew that the biggest fish in the pond are only about 3 lb with 2 lb being a rare catch, then I wouldn't be throwing a 3/4 oz chatterbait. Plus, alot of times small baits catch big fish. (trick worm anyone?) On this we agree, big baits don't always mean big fish, I've caught small bream on full size hula poppers longer than the bream.
  2. 7.8 lbs early May(a few weeks ago) on an Arkie rattleband 1/4 oz black/blue jig.
  3. Welcome to Bass Resource! Good to meet a fellow Ga basser.
  4. black and blue arkie jig with a georgia craw zoom u-vibe speed craw. (7.5 btw)
  5. Until recently, I've been fishing with Strike King, Skinny Bear, lucky craft, pepper custom, and a host of other "quality" jigs. I tried Booyah, didn't like them, I thought that any jig as cheap as booyah's boos would probably be the same. A while back I was walking down the isles of the fishing section "just looking" and next thing i know, i was in my truck with some brand new $1.59 Arkie rattleband jigs. fished them one time and caught my personal best, an 8Lb large mouth. I have now been thoroughly testing these jigs and have reached a verdict. They work just as good as any $5 jig I've ever used. they use decent hooks, very sharp, Eagle Claw i think, good quality silicone skirts, and you can easily add rattles if you want. It has one of the most versatile heads there are, especially if you like fishing docks (like me ). There are cons to this jig. for one, the paint job sucks, the paint comes off quickly when fishing shell beds or rocks. two, there is no trailer keeper (this really wasn't a problem to my surprise, I didn't have any trouble with it). And three, don't expect to fish any deep water with it, the heaviest weight they come in is 1/2 oz. So for shallow water fishing, is there really any thing comparable? Thoughts?
  6. I found a 1996 or 1997 Tracker Pro Team 17 with a 40hp mercury motor, motorguide trolling motor, and trailer for $4000. It seems to be in good condition, clean. A little wearing on the carpet. any idea what it's worth, or if it's worth it?
  7. Hello bass addicts. I will be fishing a tourney on Lake Oconee in Georgia on Oct. 24 and have never fished it before. Do any of you have any advice? P.S. I'm a non-boater/co-angler and me and it's boat vs boat
  8. Hey guys, I recently bought a spool of 20 lb. P-Line Flouroclear and was wandering if it would be any better than 20 lb. Berkely Trilene Big Game mono for pitching jigs and other flipping baits? Also, I own a m/h rod and a h rod and can't swing another rod purchase. I was wondering which one I should use for frogs and which for flipping? Thanks in advance for all the replies.
  9. if anyone has had any experience with the tracker pro 160 please help thinking of buying
  10. I think that they just set their drag more loosely so a fish won't break their line. Because, they mostly use light line for spinning reels(and I'm assuming that you are talking about spinning reels). Hope I shed some light on the subject.
  11. anyone have any experience with telescopic/collapsible handle rods(BPS tourney special?) vs. regular rods?
  12. What is the best jig worm/jig rod for under $100
  13. Has anyone had any experience with the BPS Prolite rod??
