  1. TRY IT BOTH WAYS....JUST TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE AFTER. ALSO TRY THROWING A TUBE AND PLAY AROUND WITH THAT....EITHER DRAG IT OR SWIM IT. DON'T USE A HEAVY WEIGHTED TUBE JIG EITHER...SOMETHING LIGHT OR JUST T-RIG IT WITHOUT WEIGHT. TRUST ME....BACK OF THE BOAT BED FISHING SUCKS...BUT YOU HAVE PLENTY OF WATER TO THROW AT WHEN THEY ARE TARGETING BEDS.... 8-)
  2. I LIKE TO USE TRICK WORMS....AND FLOATING WORMS ARE GOOD TO USE TOO.
  3. WELCOME ABOARD THERE TRAVIS
  4. I DROP THE BROWNS OFF AT THE SUPER BOWL BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE.....I AM NOT ONE FOR USING THE DNR TOILETS.....ONLY TO DROP SOME YELLOW RAIN AND THAT IS ALL. IF THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY COMES TO TOWN.....WELL....I JUST STAY HOME ON THAT DAY.....LOL..... 8-)
  5. IN THE SPRING...HIT THE SANDY FLATS WITH A RATTLE TRAP, OR SWIM A TUBE. LATER IN THE SEASON...GO DEEPER AND TRY DROP SHOTTING OR TUBE OR EVEN JIGS. ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT WHERE THEY GATHER...IT WILL BE THE SAME THING ALL OVER THAT LAKE.
  6. FOR THE MOST PART...ON THE WATER...BUT WHEN I GET BEAT OUT BY SOMEONE...WHO IS WILLING TO SHARE THEIR SECRETS....I ASK THEM WHAT/HOW THEY DID SOMETHING....WHERE/HOW DEEP THEY WERE ON THE WATER. JUST GOT BETTER WITH PRACTICE.
  7. VITAL !!! YOU TWO ARE FUNNY..... ;D
  8. I get excited on EVERY bass I catch too. IKE is worse than King....lol
  9. WOW....THIS THREAD CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE YARD.....LOL I SAW A GUY FROM THE STREN SERIES, WHO CAUGHT THE BIG BASS OF THE DAY....IT WAS OVER 7LBS ON LAKE ERIE.
  10. I USE YELLOW FOR LOW LIGHT, LIGHT SMOKE FOR BRIGHTER DAYS, AND I BORROW MY PARTNERS .... I THINK..... BROWN/GREEN?....FOR WHEN I NEED TO LOOK DEEPER INTO THE WATER. HE HAS SOME AWESOME LENSES, BUT HE ONLY HAS THE ONE PAIR, SO HE IS OUT OF LUCK ON THE LOW LIGHT DAYS. ;D
  11. WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU? EXTRA LINE...SICCORS, PLIERS, FIRST AD KITS, SUN SCREEN, EXTRA SUNGLASSES. TACKLE WAS A GOOD ANSWER. YOU ASKED A VERY VAGUE QUESTION.....TO WHERE YOU WILL GET 100 DIFFERENT ANSWERS TO. SO LET ME ASK YOU THIS.....WHAT WOULD YOU PUT INTO YOUR TACKLE BOX? I HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED IN MINE AND PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH OF THE IMPORTANT STUFF. LIKE TOILET PAPER...LOL....GOOD ONE
  12. I enjoy the big 3...my big 3....Bassmaster, Bassin, and FLW. Every now and then I can find a local mag...depending on what state I am in...and will get that one....might be chaulk full of info that I can use for the lakes in that area.
  13. I have enjoyed this thread. It is the first time I have seen on here where a potential sponsor tells ya what they are looking for in an angler. Also, give advice on how to pick up others outside the industry. I have gotten plenty of sponsorship in the past for my youth program(non-profit) and have promoted them so well that we never lost them as sponsors. But did notice it was harder getting newer ones. Also found it hard to get them to just sponsor me. Which was interesting, since I attend/work 3 big sporting shows and some smaller ones every year for a team tournament trail. That is how I picked up some of the ones I have now and working the Hawg Tank giving demo's helped too. When you can demonstrate that you can promote something and believe in it, you will pick up sponsors. It might not be fast going, but they will come. There are companies out there that will pay you to advertise on your vehicle, if you know where to look....that always helps the entry fees too.
  14. THOSE JON BOATS ARE FUN ON LAKE ERIE....LOL....8 FT WAVES....GOTTA LOVE IT....LOL ;D IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE YA GO...RIVER...SMALL LAKE? ANYWAY YOU LOOK AT IT...IT'S ALL FUN.
  15. GO WITH GOTEX....FROG TOGGS ARE OK, BUT IF YA SIT OR KNEEL DOWN ONTO THE CARPET OR YOUR SEAT....THE WATER SOAKS THROUGH.. NOT MY IDEA OF COMFORT. GOTEX...YOU CAN FIND FOR UNDER $100 AT BPS, GM, CABELA'S. JUST HAVE TO LOOK FOR THEM AND THE SALES.
  16. Do you want someone fishing in your hole or not? But if you are boat 200....does the size of the motor really matter now....when 199 others have the same size motor, or close to it? If you are not in the top 20...unles it's a secret spot....You are screwed!! Even with smaller lakes....the earliest and the fastest boats makes it to the hole fisrt...plain and simple. I have a 115hp, but have passed alot of bigger motors due to the size of the boat and the fact that I am alluminum...helps too. But most of the time...big or small lakes...size will beat you to the hole...that is why you need more than one hole to fish from.

Oh, forgot to add. YOU SHOULD NEVER MOVE YOUR NET TOWARDS THE FISH. Be patient and guide the fish to the net. Pull it out of the water until the fish is ready to come in. You will never lose a fish this way.

Also, when you use the rubber net, the fish will most of the time lay flat in the net and not flap around so much. This help them from gettin cut in the net. I love rubber nets. Have used one for 4 seasons now and just bought a new colapsible one....yeah for me....lol Squid
  19. All the tournaments that I fish in pay 1 for every 5 boats. Looks better when trying to get more anglers to fish in.
  20. This is so true, even for local team events. We have a guy in NBAA who fished enough tournaments with different partners that he won AOY individual points....out of 2000+ anglers. With that, he was able to pick up a few National Sponsors. My teammate and I are trying to do the samething, but for a TEAM sponsorship contract. We have been with this organization now for 5 years and have moved up from the bottom of the barrel so to speak, to the top 10 in the top 250 teams in the Northern region alone. We have slowly started to pick up some sponsorships, but are ready to sign contracts for monetary sponsorships to help with the 30+ team tournaments that we fish. It has been a long and slow learning game, but have enjoyed playing it and will always enjoy it...even if we NEVER get the big shot.
  21. I would use a clear baby torpedo with a twitch and pause.

BigTex, Megabass has a shallow crank bait...in the Griffon series, they even have top water crank baits. Squid
  23. I chose deep water, only cause I will be on Kentucky Lake the first week of May, but for up here in Michigan, for this time of year.....shallow flats for the spawning period.
  24. I think it's great that you found a J. O. B. Wish I could get my G/F's son to find one....what a lazy butt...he doesn't even like fishing...and he will be 17 this year. Here's to you for finding a job.
  25. That is where I got over 5lbs....lol
