You are gonna use what WORKS FOR YOU Nothing else matters, as long as it works. Worked for KVD, but will it work for you? KVD got his for FREE. I would try out anything for free too. I will not spend a paycheck for it, just to find out it doesn't really work. But then again, I am not going to rush out and buy one either. Now my Birthday is only 2 months away...hint hint hint.....lol Just my opinion on this subject. Squid
  2. Good for you Cody.
  3. To be honest....that was the first time I had ever fished the eastside of Michigan. Yes, I feel that everyone should make a trip...just once....to Lake Erie. Just like I think we all should fish the lakes in Mexico.... I am now looking to beat my 3.28lb Large mouth....lol My biggest smally before Lake Erie was caught in Muskegon Lake and was 4.32lbs
  4. I Love story time....lol. I was out with some friends the day before the BFL on Lake Erie. We were out by some helo pad and I was sitting in the middle using one of their set ups. Spin rod and reel with a green pumpkin with purple flek goby on 6lb test drop shot. It must have been my 10th cast and I caught my finger on the line, so it only went out 3 feet from the boat. We were 18-20ft of water but the bait didnt get that far when I start to reel it to recast out. It felt heavy, but I thought I had a drum on. Then it jumped out of the water.....lol....they looked at me and said "holy shiooot, you have a hog on the line." I never saw it. I just kept reeling in when the owner of the rod told me to slow down, because I was fishing with only 6lb test. It took me 20 minutes to bring that fish in. When I got it in they took a picture of it for me, but we were not able to weigh it. I held it from my belly button to my knees. They said it was well over 6lbs, just by the size of it. All I know is that it was the BIGGEST bass I have ever caught in my life. On tournament day, I caught 2 bass that weighed less than 4 lbs total...lmao. Squid
  5. It's Kevin's brother, Randy, that owns D and R Sports. Don't know, maybe his dad used to. I think that D and R Sports was started by Randy. I will ask him when I see him next month. Have to start getting my stuff ready for the coming season. But if I don't see him then, I will catch up to him on his Open house. Here are MY FAV"S 1. KVD, not just cause he is good, but he is very easy to talk to and very informative. 2. Shaw Grigsby, cause he is funny with his stories and full of excitement. 3. Denny Brauer, one of the best instuctors I have been honored to sit in with. I do have more for the list, but these are my top 3. Ike, would also make it for his raw energy that he shows off every time he catches a BIG one
  6. We have a youth club here in Michigan that is open for kids 15 and under and is free. It is a Non-profit program. 7. Well look who's back...nice to see you JT
  8. Ok...I have told this one before on here. Tritonman, his son and I were fishing on a camping trip. This was our first day on the water, so we had 3 more days to go...lol We were fishing around some overgrown weed beds when my baby torpedo got hooked in the weeds. Well I tugged and pulled so hard that it came flying towards me. I closed my eyes and turned my head as to protect my eyes. It hit me on the side of my face. I turned to see where it landed, but did not see it anywhere in the boat. His son, then said...OMG!! I turned to look at him and felt the lure haning from my ear. I had two of the 3 hooks stuck in my ear passed the barbs. I had Tritonman cut and try to pull and push them out of my ear. He couldn't do it, so I did it myself. I pushed them far enough for him to grab with pliers and pull them out. He and his son could not believe how much pain I could take :...lol....I wanted to cry so bad ...lmao. Took an hour for me to push them through. We all thought our weekend camping was going to be over before it began....lol. Now I have 3 earings in my left ear ;D....lmao It is amazing that you NEVER feel it go into the skin but hurts like burning blazes coming out. Squid
  9. You can use heavier line if you use Fluorocarbon. You want it to sink to the bottom as quicly as possible. Plus this type of line is virtually invisible to the fish, unlike other heavier lines. Gamma has Fluorocarbon line in 6 to 20lb testline, which could mean you can also go smaller and have the strength to pull out a big one in heavy cover. Squid
  10. Man, I thought we would have had an answer by now...Glad to see that they like the idea though. Squid
  11. Well he did say that the money should go to charity of choice...whether Charlie's team wins or the BassResource.com Team wins.
  12. Hey now...last season Charlie lost almost every challenge out there....even his sister beat him....lol....this season I think they let him win....lol. Hope you will get to hear from him for next season...would be fun to see, if he commits, who he will get to fish with him....lol...Mark Zona would fit his personality...lmao......both are pretty cocky...lol...and they both make me laugh. Squid
  13. I know I was MIA...couldn't get Tritonman to email my pics to me, and he still hasn't...even after I have asked him now 3 times....geez ;D Well, I am just gonna have to shoot his deer this year...lol Squid
  14. Ranger1, We have not seen Joe on here since May. He had a death in the family then never got back with anyone. Good luck on getting any info from him on here. You might want to go to his website and get his address from there. Squid
  15. If that is your total for the year..I would fish it. Our yearly dues are $30 or $75 for 3 yrs. Weeknight fishing is $20 per person for 12 weeks, and if you want to fish a weekend tournament about $60 per person for 5 events. Now the BFL is $25 a yr and cost the Co-Angler $550 to fish all 5 events, plus giving atleast $20 to help with gas...although that isn't very much now....huh?

  17. I hope to get some pics to send you in time. Squid
  18. Here in Michigan theyare supose to give you space and not come to close. Tritonman and myself have thrown baits towards them and hoping NOT to hook them, but let them know we are not pleased with what they are doing...that seems to work... ;D But we have thought about bringing just a rod with a 1oz weight attached to the end and just wing it at them and hope the HIT them anywhere it lands. Forgive me FATHER for these terrible thoughts....lol....please feed the starving pigmies...lol
  19. Yes, there is a BIG difference in eyewear when it comes to price. If you are just wearing them to BLOCK the sun, then $50 and less is good for that, but to protect your eyes from Lake glare and to see into the water, you need to investigate and invest in some awesome eyewear, from some of the top makers of fishing glases. I have Oakley's, and Solar Bats. Both are very good and worth the price. Once you PAY the price you will SEE the difference.
  20. Well RW that is impressive, and you are right, now I will never have the chance to go to Eagle Lake and catch one of them when they are bigger. Plastic or Plaster ...lol... is better. That is why we have cameras, and tape measures..... but hey...didn't mean to dog you on those two big Michigan bass...just next time...remember....that to beat the record they must live to grow. Squid
  21. I use a 6'6" spin rod with 6-8# test line. Some use heavier line, that is what I use.
  22. Yep, he was wrong...just look at him...smile...and say "Thanks, will remember that the next time you need to get off the water and can't fit into small places, that is bigger than your boat really needs!!" :-X :

  24. Well, I had many goals this year. I wanted to finish in the top 10, if there were 20 or more boats, I wated to do better than we did last year in our weekend division, and just catch some fish in the BFL....lol In divisions 2 of the NBAA we had an avg of 21 boats and we finished in 10th place over a 12 week weeknight league. 8th place with only 8 events fished out of 12 in Division 7, but an avg. of 14 boats. 20th place, which was an improvement, in our weekend league with an avg of 31 boats over 5 events. In the BFL, I just had problems. To start I missed the first event and zeroed 2 others. I caught 2 smallies in the second event for 4.4lbs. In the last event, this past weekend, I caught 3 for 6.13lbs with 2 Lrg Mouths and 1 smallie with the smallie being the biggest fish in the livewell. So as you can see I did improve and I also learned a LOT in the BFL as a co-angler. I am now ready for DEER season to begin....lol
  25. You guys are too funny. I guess I would go under the guy who can tell/show you how to get a treble hook out of the earlobe...Ouch....lol You forgot JT Bagwell for crankbaits and all good info...Where are you JT? Squid
