Johns resume updated
John, If you are under 18, I don't recommend putting on your phone number, but what about an email address to contact you with? That is the only thing I see missing. Are you going to Kentucky this May? See you on the 11th, Squid

how do you fish with a young child
Well since I run a youth fishing program, I can tell you this; Try and take them FISHING!! period. Teach them how to fish first, then teach them how to bass fish if they still like to go fishing. Take them out for no more than three hours, use live bait first to get them use to catching fish, then slowly work them into plastic baits. Fish from shore to get them the hang of casting and setting the hook, then when you feel you will be safe...lol.....take them out in the boat and teach them how to place the bait where it should go. Now this does not happen in one outing....over the years maybe, but you can take them in the boat with you anytime you want and cast for them, but give them live bait to just catch fish and a smile. You will be a hero in their eyes if they can bring in a big one with dad in their sights. Anymore questions about teaching a child to fish..just send me a message. Just remember...hook and bobber to start and you wont go wrong in their eyes. Squid Oh forgot this one.....take a camera with you....everytime. Also, if it's not a bass, let them keep the fish, but also teach them about/why catch and release.

Ike #6 Hated Athlete
I toss them back, but to the other side of the boat as to not scare off anymore bass than I already did when I caught the short. I don't throw them back, just toss. Squid

WANTED: soft plastic company sponsor
Senko knew where I was coming from, and didn't feel that I was offending him. Just admitting that if you are going to correct someone, make sure you are in the right. Topwtr, Good luck on the FH Training in the GM's. Still trying to get the closest ones to me to order them. Squid

how many lakes
Normally, about 6. With tournaments, about 15-20 different lakes. I will go about 2 hrs away for a 1 day trip.

WANTED: soft plastic company sponsor
Senko, Before you chew someone out for spelling and grammar, make sure they can't do the same to you. When using I, don't use i. Don't is with 't in it. Friends is ie not ei. This is how to spell recommendations. I try to write my stuff in an email first to get spell check, then copy and paste it on here. Works for me. I don't do it all the time, but if you are going to correct someone on grammar and spelling, make sure you are in the right yourself. Squid

club costs
My clubs dues are $25 a yr, and I can fish in any one of the 100 divisions that we have to offer for tournaments. Weeknights are $40 for team plus optional $5 for big bass. Weekends are $115 for team and optional $10 for big bass. The Monday night division that I run is also a Skeeter sanctioned trail, which means, if we get 30+ boats and a Skeeter/Yamaha boat wins, they get an extra $1000 from Skeeter. If they are in a 2006 with a 225 or larger hp, they win $2000. Not bad for just running a 30 boat tournament, HUH? Squid

A good company?
Crankin_King, If you are writing this while sitting in 7th grade English, please make sure you are learning your writing skills first, then worry about your fishing skills and getting sponsors second. I feel that school should be more important to you right now. When school is out, that is when you can get into fishing and learning everything you can about the basics. 13 is way too young to worry about finding a sponsor and fishing seriously in tournaments. You still have to write and speak so that others, a lot older than you, can understand. I do not mean to offend you, but you do need to learn more than just fishing. Sorry, Squid
-
would you or have you used a guide??
If I could afford one I would use one. It helps to know where the fish are and what to use in different times of the day.

Bass Magazines
I can tell you what magazine not to get...FLWOutdoors!! To much junk in it if you are looking for just bass fishing. There are all kinds of good ones out there....Inside Line, BassMaster Mag., Bassin, and In Fisherman. Before you subscibe, check them out at your news stand then go from there on what type of info you are lokking for.

Schooled By D.B.
I can't believe that you want to axe Jerry's show. He is a devoted smallmouth fisherman, and one of the best around.....If you want to axe someone axe that d#uc*e Charlie Moore. He lives down the street from me. He is the only guy that has his own show and can hardly acatch a bass over 2lbs.............It must help that his wife had an IN with the exec's at ESPN Sorry to say this, only because I LOVE to fish for smallmouth bass, but his shows are OLD repeats. From YEARS ago. If you are gonna have a show on twice a day, then get some NEW material. Mark Zona lives here in MI and he is funny and so is Charlie Moore. I would rather want to be entertained than bored to death with OLD shows. Denny is releaved not to be back. Let's see what happens when he retires from tournament fishing. He will be back and BETTER...you watch. If I had a J. O. B....... I would bet my paycheck on it.....lol...just not going to give it a time frame though....lol

A good company?
Spell check and some proper grammar would help out too, huh? Yes, eye is the correct spelling but when talking about yourself...I....is the correct grammar to use. JT is right about the age to sign contracts. If the Strike King PS'r is under 18 then his/her parents would have to sign under their name to make it legal. I see nothing wrong with helping young ones to get LOCAL sponsors, cause this works in many ways. It helps them learn the responsibilities and needs of their sponsors, and teaches them how to better prepare themselves when talking about their sponsors in front of other people, whether it's the products or services that the sponsor provides.
