Drop Shot Set Ups
There are all kinds of set ups for the drop shot. Finesse worm, hooked texas, or just through the head end. Drop shot goby's are great if that is what the fish are feeding on, or just for a different look. How far is your weight from your hook is just as important too. Are the fish feeding off the bottom, then you don't need a drop shot....3" - 18" is a good set up for distance between the weight and the hook. Style of hook is all up to you. They make drop shot hooks, but a wide gap 1/0 works well too. Some use a straight shank hook too, it is all what you feel works for you. Any other questions...feel free to send me a message. Squid

Re: why pay to be in a bass club?
Hummmm....Sounds all good. NBAA is not so much as a club, unless each Division is Concidered a club. Dues are $30 a year or $75 for three years and an extra $5 for a yearly family dues or $15 for the 3 year family dues. Just incase your spouce or kids want to fish with you. Tournament fees are $35 with an optional $5 big bass pot for the weeknights, and $115 plus $10 for the optional big bass pot. The Classics or Championships are free and so are the meals. Paid through entry fees and dues. We have two Classics, one for the Weeknight Divisions and one for the Weekend Divisions. First place gets $3000 and a boat in both. This next event will have a final tournamtn between the top 25 of the weeknight classic and the top 25 of the weekend classic. They are also having a Classic just for the Division Directors. Should be a lot of fun. We just had our Kids Classic on the 21st, last Sunday. 23 kids ages from 2 - 16 with 4 age groups. Non Profit program. We gave each kid a full tackle-box rod, 2 reels, solar bat sunglasses, and shirts. The winners of each group got nicer stuff. Shimano Rods and Reels, Gamma line and Hats, Tackle Bags and a free Pizza from Domino's. We fed them with 10 Pizza's from Hungry Howies and Sam's Cola from Wal-Mart. All in all was a great day. All this and NO COST to the families. With each county holding four summer time events. Adding two more counties next year. I just hope Moose Tracks Ice Cream will give me more shirts....lol

starting out
Hummmm, From this post huh? You must really be good. Just hope your request letters don't look as bad as your post did. Glad to hear that someone picked you up. I would still work on your grammer and spelling though, as John stated in his reply to your post. Never hurts to get better and bigger sponsors. Squid

Sponser ???
No problem, just hate it when others correct people and they need corrections too. I served in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, or medic for the Marines.
-
Who do you go after for a sponsor and why?
I agree with both Sam and Will. I have sponsors outside of the industry to help cover the cost of the entry fees, but I also have sponsors who products I believe in and use. But we all use other products, only cause that is what is working at the moment, and I proudly say I used them and why. Some of the products I use my sponsors don't make or carry the same color combination. In time they will though.. ;D With the outside industry, you can promote them by giving away coupons, or just referring them some business. I have only been given free product from two sponsors and paid a discount with the others. However, I still paid for something else with the company who gave me some of their products. I promote any and all who have helped me with my tournaments. When it comes to my Youth Program....everything has been given freely, and I promote the HECK out of them to the parents and everyone I fish with. Why? Cause it is an awesome thing to see Big Names give to the kids.

Sponser ???
Baylor_PhiDelt, You should never correct the grammer of someone else when you didn't check your own before you posted it. At the end of every sentence, your first letter to the next sentence begins with a capital letter. Example from your Resume: Sponsorship Needs Since I am going to an expensive college and begining to fish federation tournaments, I will need financial help with entry fees, gas, and equipment. i do not require lodging because i prefer to camp out. I myself never really gives a crap what I read on the forums as long as they are not rude to others. So, before you print something...make sure yours is as good or better than the person/persons you are correcting. Learned that one during 12yrs of the Military. Don't mean to sound rude, but it bothers me when people point out and not help. You are the College man, so help him with his Resume so he doesn't hear it from others when he tries to get sponsors.

Busy ramp...your thoughts?
I have seen lots of slow ppl unload and load their boats....my favorite time was when we were in line to unload and this older cpl was ahead of us. When it got to their turn, he put her in the boat, dropped it in the water, left his truck right there, went to start the boat, took a long time to get it started. Left the boat in the launch side and went to park his truck. Didn't even move it out of the way so others could unload. Well he didn't even move the boat when it stalled out, so we had to wait for him to again get the motor started. We must have had 15 boats lined up and ready by the time they went on their way to enjoy the water and the rays. We were all just laughing out of disbelief of what just happend for over 30 minutes. What made it even more humorous was that just about all of us asked to help and he turned us all down. Must have been in their late 70's early 80's...cute cpl though...lol Just remember to try and keep it on the lighter side depending on the situation....lol ;D

Help Finding the Bucketmouths
Nutt, That might be one big problem I am having....I don't stay long enough to hit around the spot I caught the shorts in. See what happens when you have a short season...you forget the basics...lol. No I am no pro, just like the boat well enough to wear the shirt....lol

Help Finding the Bucketmouths
I am working deep cranks, 5" stick baits, spinners, poppers, and buzz baits. Get hits on them all, in all areas of the water too. I think Will hit it on the nose for me, but I need to find the big ones first....lol I will try C-Rig and some more jigs the next time out.
-
where do i find these?
I would always go out at night after a good rain and find them all over the place. Had a deep kiddie pool filled with dirt, coffee and some worm food to help them grow and multiply. Never had to buy worms again, but it is just as easy to get them at night for the next time you want to go out. Then you wont have to buy stuff to keep them in either.

Help Finding the Bucketmouths
I am having a problem of catching quality bass, not quantity. How do you get the bigger fish to bite before the shorts do? It doesn't matter what I throw...the shorts hit it first, but can never get the big one to bite....What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

does bass taste good?
If caught in some lakes...like here in Michigan, they have a mucky taste to them if not done right. To take the fishey taste out of them, soak them over-night in milk, or better yet for flavor....lemon juice. Then follow RW's directions and you have the best tasting fish around.

How do you get a sponcer?
Shadow, You should take what these nice people are telling you to heart. It is called respect, which you did not display in your last post. Let's begin with, how old are you? What can you offer a potential sponsor at your age? What are you looking to get from the potential sponsor, ie...money, product..what? You should also make sure you can spell some of the easier words before you submit a request of any kind, to a sponsor of your choice. If you are serious about it, maybe Mr. JT Bagwell can give you some pointers on how to go about it. Just ask nicely, cause he is full of good information.
