Humminbird service....
they said they have a 5 business day turnaround time. My thinking is if it is going to be longer than that they can give you a new unit and the long term gain of having a customer probably outweighs the negative publicity from a negative customer experience. I would love to have it back before the weekend since i am hoping to get out given this warm spell we are having here in central VA.

Humminbird service....
I picked up a Helix 5 SI unit last june and about a month in it developed some fogging in the screen. It didn't really bother me too much but i knew i should send it off to get looked at while still under warranty. Well i finally got to sending the unit off this past weekend and I have to say that I am impressed in their service process thus far. I sent the unit off Saturday and received an email today saying the unit was received. Now they haven't said what the final result is going to be but thus far, I am impressed to have such clear and quick communication. I never even had to use my tracking number to see if it was received or not. Hopefully they say it needs to be replaced and they are out of the 5 and send me a 7 instead

Geico Bassmaster Classic
Pretty much what has already been said. He is a speed/power fisherman and it hasn't worked for him as of late. I am sure he can fish other techniques as anyone with his level of skill can do but that doesn't mean he will or want to do it. He kind of is a victim of his own success too. I am sure he has more obligations than most and that has to take a toll on you mentally which makes it even harder to keep your edge, which we all know is super important in any type of competitive endeavor.

Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship 2016
There has bee grumbling about how the money is paid out and how the tourneys are set up from day one and from what i have gleaned talking to people, it is mostly justified. I get trying to grow the sport but it's not for me. I also totally agree that motorized and pedal yaks should not be on the same playing field as paddle kayaks. Sure paddle kayaks may be able to keep up with some motorized/pedal driven kayaks but at the end of the day your legs will be a lot fresher and able to poodle further distances more easily than those with a paddle. It just plain isn't fair to me. That all being said, good luck to those who enter and I hope it is some no name person in a an old SOT who wins it all and can laugh at the people with their $5k+ "kayaks" lol

Geico Bassmaster Classic
I always viewed him as a one trick pony, albeit a very good one trick. Maybe that trick has gone sour....

Geico Bassmaster Classic
I don't believe that is possible....that is one cast every 12 seconds on average. I think he is done...he has fallen off the past few years and hasn't made the comeback everyone was talking about.

what are you using in VA
I have been doing well on the lakes around here with jerk baits fished relatively quickly and swim jigs. I am thinking that this warm weather we are supposed to be getting will really turn them on by the end of the week. And seeing that pic @Wayne P. may have just made my decision on where i need to head to next...

2016 Bassmaster Classic Grand Lake
Nah, i guess i have always been a Rick Clunn fan since i was a kid and i don't want someone to beat his record of 4

2016 Bassmaster Classic Grand Lake
I picked Alton Jones to win so we will see if he can pick it up and jump to the top spot. I am glad KVD is doing poorly...I just don't like the guy for some reason lol

Zoom Trick Worm Vs. Zoom Super Fluke
For me it is the fluke. I catch more on the fluke but that is probably because i fish it more often but really they both are about the same for me in weightless applications. Weighted applications the trick worm produces more for me and that is usually how i fish them,

braid bad to use on every setup?
total preference. I use braid on pretty much everything except one spinning rod that i use for jerk baits and topwater. other than that, i am a straight braid guy.

Do You Support Your Local Bait and Tackle Shop?
i do for pretty much everything unless they don't carry it and can't get it. Prices are a little more expensive but it is one mile from my house, the staff is great and i like supporting a local business.

Flukemaster no longer number 1 on YouTube
i would rather read an article than watch a video myself so i never even watch youtube channels or whatever they are called...I am impatient and can read the articles faster than they can talk and show it to me

Any interest in an online BR kayak/canoe tourney?
yeah that is the one i was thinking of but i thought another one took it's place

Conceal carry permit holders no longer need background check
makes sense to me but pardon my ignorance here, if you have a CCP and are convicted of a crime that would normally not allow you to have a CCP, does that automatically null and void the CCP?

Any interest in an online BR kayak/canoe tourney?
I would be in too...there is a calculator out there that semi limits the playing field and it does a decent job but i can't think of the name of it right now..

Drangonfly 4 or Fishin Buddy Max
both work and you don't even need the water bath. just a big wad of the putty and stick it in there. i ran one like that for two years with a Humminbird transducer for 2 years with zero issues.

A little help on fishing points from the bank
this is an interesting point of contention in many circles. I read an old fly fishing book from the 20's that had a chapter about this. I was always under the impression that cloudy overcast days were better because, well, that is what everyone told me. His take was that super sunny days were better for fishing in clear water as long as you didn't spook them. His thinking was hold a fly up in the air directly into the sun and see what details you can see and do the same on an overcast day. With the sun high in the sky and singing down pretty much all detail is lost and there really is only a silhouette visible as opposed to the cloudy day view where you can see the thread wraps on the flies. I then tracked my fishing for the next few months and sure enough, i did better on dry flies in the sun as opposed to cloudy days.... just some food for thought...

Cyber-Theft
I don't think a vendor is at fault for anything if they don't use a chip machine, it would still fall on the card issuer which even with debit cards is usually master card or visa. I could be wrong though as i haven't read any new addendum to the regs in the past few months. I personally hate using chip cards as it seems like the process is still far from perfect. About every 3rd time i use one, I have to retry it and for PIN based transactions, i still have to use the chip. Seems like a waste of time to me at that point as i have already used my PIN and you can't really get more secure than that except if you went with a fingerprint or something. I have had a visa card that info was stolen and it took me all of about 5 minutes on the phone to dispute the transactions and the money was back in my account within a couple days and my new card was within 5. I use credit cards 90% of the time for the rewards and just pay them off every month anyways so if one is compromised, i just use a different card.

Cyber-Theft
I am not sold that chip systems are any more secure right now. I mean yeah, if they use a blank then the chip activated card would be a deterrent, assuming the vendors have a chip machine but it wouldn't prevent online based transactions at all. All of the disputes are handled pretty much the same and fall under the same regs whether it is credit or debit card or even ACH. There are a few nuances but no need to bore you with those details.....Generally if you are legit and make the claim in the timeframe you will get your money back quickly.

Beginner fishing kayak
keep in mind with your budget that you will need a paddle and a PFD as well. In that price range i would either save up a little longer and/or look for used boats on craigslist, just be quick and have money in hand cause the good deals go fast. There are a lot of good boats out there and in the new price range jackson cruise is a great boat. I would also say go for a 12' length as it gives the best compromise between stability, tracking and speed.

Attaching items to kayak hull - HELP!
the hours of appomattox up here doesn't let me get there after work and last time i was in there, they didn't have any rivets. Ordering them was pretty easy and now i can look forward to a package coming lol And i will echo the sentiment of fishing for a bit first to see what you really want. I have been kayak fishing of a long time and out of now at least 5 kayaks and y most recent purchase i didn't mount anything until after 10-12 trips.
