Interesting Facebook Post From A River Guide....
Catering to which makes sense and bumping another paying client to me are completely different. Do you think that at Sam's Club if someone who is a big spender will jump the line? I don't, even though they may have special perks for customers who spend x amount of dollars per year. To me this is completely different in that anyone can just pay a $200 fee and bump someone else from their spot.

First Aid Kayak Kit: What Should You Have In It?
i don't even carry a first aid kit, maybe i should but i don't. I do carry a set of pliers and that's about it. On the river i usually carry at least some tape in case something happens and pretty much everything can be covered and held by tape and if i needed gauze i would just tear a sleeve off my shirt. I rarely fish flatwater anywhere that i am more than a mile or so from the launch and if cannot make that paddle then the most important thing for me is my cell phone to cal land get a ride and some help.

i am thinking he isn't based on the additional comments defending his stand later one but who knows.....

Interesting Facebook Post From A River Guide....
that was my exact thought too....he then proceeded to say he had to raise prices and had a mortgage yadda yadda....two completely different things in my mind. If i make a guided trip reservation, take time off work and i get a call saying i was bumped i would be more than ticked. Honestly, he doesn't seem like much more than a dude who likes to fish and wants to get paid while doing it where most guides that are good that i have been around won't pick up a rod all day long....

Guide, Charge Or Comp That Is The Question!
gotcha, i just saw your location said appalachia so it made me wonder what species. I have seen those shows where people are guiding for bonefish and the guide can only do so much it seems....

Thinking Of Setting Up A Cranking Combo, What Do You Think
my only suggestion would be is if you need a MH for the types of cranking you do. I throw a M weight rod and i like it for pretty much everything and since i am not deep cranking, over 12', i am not sure if you will need the MH version. other than that, sounds like a good set up.

Guide, Charge Or Comp That Is The Question!
just curious, what species were you primarily guiding for?

Interesting Facebook Post From A River Guide....
So here is the post "I got a part time evening job .So I am now guiding the river full-time, so I'm available all the time .We are booked till the last weekend in September . Unless you wanna pay $200 a day and bump an existing reservation." Just curious on everyone's thoughts about this statement....i'll post up my thoughts after we get a few responses

Guide, Charge Or Comp That Is The Question!
He still worked and did his best (assuming that part of course) to put you on fish and sometimes, it just doesn't happen. If i was on the client side of that equation, i wouldn't expect a discount or anything. Now there would be a good chance if i was in the market for a guide again, i would look elsewhere and that may be where a half off next trip or something would entice me enough to go back and give them another try.

Braid Or Flurocarbon? Which Is The Most Sensitive?
like everyone already said. I personally take the advantages of braid over flouro and just watch my line and the slack line sensitivity is pretty much eliminated in my experience.
-
Best Braid?
Yeah that might have been the case because i went smaller than i usually do, 4lb test diameter and it just wasn't cutting it....moved back to 6lb diameter power pro super slick and had no issues....
-
Best Braid?
I prefer Power Pro Super slick over both the original version, which is still a really good line, and the suffix 832. I had the suffix on a spinning set up and was not pleased with it all. It seemed to get more wind knots and, as already been stated, the coating didn't last very long at all.

Seahawks
I am not sure they are the deepest team in the league, maybe on defense which is really good for sure and puts the offense in good positions to do something positive. While the score was a little lopsided, i don't think the final score reflected how close the game really was. Seattle is gonna have it's hands full this season for sure.

Which Would You Choose?
i like them both and haven't noticed a difference in catch rates between the two but i am 99% of the time weightless texas rigging them as well. My go to though is the stankxbaitco stick bait. Durable and has some really good colors. They also make a smooth version that i am curious to see how it works but i haven't placed an order recently so i have yet to try them.

Ms 150 Charity Bike Ride-Richmond Va
Yes sir, ride is tomorrow and sunday. Tomorrow is gonna kind of suck of because the heat is going to be brutal , probably up over 90 with high humidity by the time i finish. Sunday should be a lot better with the high only suppose to be 79. We are slated to start around 7:30 tomorrow but i really wish it was about an hour earlier. I am shooting for a 5 hour total ride time including breaks and going to try and keep my average speed around 16mph or so depending on what group i tag along with during the ride. I have done all my training solo up to this point and riding in a group makes a considerable difference as far as effort goes. Drafting from others takes about 30% less energy so that will be nice if I can find a decent group to ride with..... At least the route is pretty flat for the most part and i have ridden probably the first 50 miles before so no huge surprises

Pennsylvania - World Record Bear
that is a huge bear....i have had a few run ins with bears here in VA but the only time i was scared was when I was about 4 miles up a creek fishing for brookies and i see a mama and her two cubs....was really cool to see but i about crapped my pants too. I know how they can be with cubs. all the other ones i have seen pretty much take off when they see you.

The Beer Is Brewing, The Trash Is Flying, And Ian Kinsler Apparently Hates Texas
I am looking forward to the playoffs and the Phillies being the spoilers because as of late, they are playing some d**n good baseball.....sweeping the nats, winning this recent series with the braves including a no hitter and two shut outs....i think they have won 4 series in a row actually. As always though, too little too late lol

A Testament Of Strength And Value, Vs. Boneheadness
that sucks....i did the same sort of thing with a fly rod in a small mountain stream and i set the hook on a brookie into an overhanging tree branch....fished the rest of the day without the top section lol

I Win!
yeah going from a race suspension to a jeep is a whole new world.....the older leaf sprung varieties....pre 1997 aren't as bad as the newer ones....i will actually get a little stiffer spring on my 2012 when i get around to replacing the tires in about another 10k miles or so
-
I Win!
yup that is true.....same concept applies to buying Jeep Wranglers.....people buy them thinking they are going to be awesome and driving with the top down and comfortable....yeah it is a Jeep get over it then they sell them and people like me buy them a year old and get that first year of depreciation out of the way
-
I Win!
Wait, weren't you just posting a little while ago that your life was over and she was ticked and you are not to listen to what they say......and now you can get a motorcycle? Either way, go buy one and you can get custom ones on the cheap from all the mid life crisis guys who get one, realize it isn't as comfortable and they are still soft even though they are on a bike, and then sell it..... good luck brother

yeah I have one but my problems are not muscular so all the foam rolling in the world won't really help too much. They are nice for my legs though
