  1. not in my opinion but i know certain states have regs that say the fish must be hooked in the mouth to be considered legal or not.
  2. Agree on that one entirely. There are also some pretty good free credit reporting sites out there that will give you a score that is usually in the ballpark but then you throw in the FICO score which is even different than the three big credit bureaus. Creditsesame and credit karma are both decent sites. One reports from trans union and one is from Experian I believe. I know when i bought my Jeep last year the score they showed me on Credit Karma was within about 10 points or so of what the bank showed me when they calculated the report.
  3. How long ago were you 25? Lots of banking and credit regulations have changed in the past 10 years. When i was in college i had a CC that had a 25k limit too....those types of limits nowadays are extremely rare. Most places will lower your credit limit if you are not a profitable customer to them too.
  4. I am no accountant but i think when they ask for payment, you are not getting a refund. they just want the payment. You have to file to get the refund assuming you are owed one that is. I could be wrong though, happens rather frequently
  5. If you don't file an extension they can calculate your taxes for you and send you the bill but it will not be in your best interests of course to let them do it.
  6. I can see that line of thinking with regard to credit building but the way scores are calculated it does not impact the score. Now what lending institutions use to extend credit is much more than just the credit score so that is probably where the difference lies. A high score does not automatically mean you get a loan and it is the same reason income is required when getting a loan/credit card but it is not a factor in your credit score.
  7. I never said not to use the card, i just said not to carry a balance. Your history will still show on time payments with a low credit utilization both of which have a high impact on your credit score.
  8. sorry but this is completely false. Carrying a balance over month to month does not show your ability to pay off over time it just shows you have a lower credit available. I use my rewards credit card for everything pretty much and will make multiple payments during the month if needed just so that when they report to the agencies it doesn't show a high balance. No late payments is key, not a balance.
  9. Carrying a balance does nothing to improve your credit score, it only impacts your available credit which does impact your score. you want to keep that as low as possible, usually under 15%-20%. The major influences on your credit score are your payment history, available credit percentage and derogatory marks aka collections etc..and credit inquiries play a part as well.. If you have a card just use it like your debit card and pay the bill completely each month. Also keep in mind that any type of loan will build credit. I know people who would take out a personal loan that they didn't need just to pay it back month after month to build credit. Not something i would recommend unless you can get a really low interest rate but it is an option to show that you are able to pay back your loans.
  10. Here is one i caught about a week ago at a pond near where i used to work...
  11. Yeah i got that same quote but i kind of wanted a different pair lol
  12. If you caught a 32" chain pickerel you most likely had the state record and possibly a world record as well since the world record chain pickerel measured 31" and weighed 9lbs 6oz
  13. Not even a comparison in my mind. I have worn/owned sunglasses from oakley, smith, mountain shades, optic nerve, maui jim and costa. I used to work in an outdoor store so could get them real cheap. Anyways, i bought a pair of costas on a trip to the shore where i forgot i had my smiths on and went into the surf and wiped out and lost them. Paid full pop for them and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. they are top notch lenses and the quality is very good. I am actually looking to get another pair because my son pulled them off the shelf and they landed straight on the lens from about 5 feet and cracked. They still work and i wear them but it is not a warranty issue and i will replace them this summer most likely.
  14. Both but for me it depends on what species I am wanting to target that particular day. For largemouth I hit the lakes and for smallies i am hitting the rivers and creeks. There is also the time allotted to fish as ell. There are a few river access points pretty close that i can do a paddle up and float back i na few hours where the majority of lakes i like to fish are about 45 minutes away.
  15. I am sure all you guys saw this already but if not.... http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2014-05-22/baseball-general-manager-rankings-2014-best-worst-beane-cherington-cashman/slide/1 Big shocker that Ruben Amaro is last....he single handedly destroyed what could have been a spectacular run by the Phillies. Sure they did well for about 5 years but at the same time that was with Gillick's players. Burns me up every time i think about it.....
  16. That is kind of what I thought but i know they were busting people who were using smallies for bait for big flatheads on the James. The thing with using a gamefish with a creel limit for bait is how can you determine how many were used and if the person was over their creel limit for the day.
  17. Good looking fish. I have never caught a northern but i have caught their smaller dousing the chain pickerel many many times. My largest measured 26" and no idea on the weight. The way the smaller ones hit i can only imagine that the big ones would be even more fun.
  18. Yup, another ride post... 25.1 miles today and just missed my goal of averaging 17mph by .06...still not a bad pace. http://www.mapmyride.com/workout/593735151
  19. I can't argue with what everyone else said....i will also add that i was fishing a small river/creek today that is maybe 50-75 feet across and caught a nice smallie right underneath a rope swing that is heavily used. I wouldn't complain either for one, I cannot stand HOA's and for two, they aren't hurting anything for the most part other than the fishing right at the spot they are messing around.
  20. i looked at the VA regs and couldn't find anything saying you couldn't per se but the fish cannot be mutilated or anything so i would guess that they could use that as an exception and also creel limits are still in effect. I figured it would be easy to find but didn't see anything.
  21. No new advice here other than I have used a razor blade to do this when i had to a few years ago. Also, what difference does it make if you nick the spool slightly when cutting? I don't see that causing any impacts to performance or structural integrity of the spool unless of course you took a huge chunk out of it but i doubt that would happen. and for the record, I didn't see him as whining at all, just asking a question as a newbie to baitcasters like everyone else has been one time or another.
  22. go get yourself one from a fabric store that is a cloth tape...won't rust and takes up no space. After all that...nice fish!!
  23. Yup-another ride post from yours truly. Debated this morning on whether i should go ride or not given it was a little misty, windy and in the low 60's but i figured the event is rain or shine and if i start making excuses on why not to ride it will only be easier the next time. Anyways, went out with the intentions of riding a short ride but i was feeling pretty good so i kept going. Ended up doing my longest ride of the year at 25 miles and maintained a 16.3MPH speed. Pretty happy that i have been able to add miles and keep the same speed average. All in a good ride, got pretty much soaked but it was fun. http://www.mapmyride.com/workout/588734433 Here is the link if anyone is still thinking of donating to help MS.....up to $490 in donations so far http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Bike/VARBikeEvents?px=4544103&pg=personal&fr_id=22247
  24. I am not sure why launching on concrete ramps is an issue unless of course you are not floating and you scoot your way out into where the boat can float. Any boat will have problems if you do that repeatedly and you see it a lot on river boats but still only after years of abuse. the commander also has a removable/replaceable skeg that is designed to take the brunt of any dragging of the boat around. I fished probably 200 times out of my commander and never had any issues other than the captain's perch support breaking which was a common problem in their earlier boats. And as far as warranty goes, I called the place i bought the boat, they asked me to send them some pictures and the hull id # and within a few weeks I had a brand new 2014 commander that has sadly never even been in the water yet. Another bonus is it has the new seat which is pretty nice compared to the old one but i rarely use the seat.
  25. Look at the Cardinals, that is a true homegrown team. personally i don't care either way as long as my team wins but saying they don't buy their team is not accurate. They do pay based on need but that doesn't change that the team is built via free agency really.
